We’re expecting our second daughter, a little sister for [name_f]Sophia[/name_f].
Our front runner is [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], although I can’t help but wonder if they’re too different from each other.
Both names are popular, but to our knowledge [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] has always came across to people as modern, while [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is not perceived like that.
We’ve asked people close to us and they almost all agreed that they are different, but their opinions on if this matters is not unanimous. Some say it’s not bothering or causes problems, while others are convinced it will bother the girls at some point. Which is what I’m trying to avoid.
We would not only like to hear your opinion on this (as you guys are truly naming magicians), we’d love to hear any stories or personal experiences with siblings having different names.
I know it isn’t a terrible thing, but I just don’t want to cause any issues, problems or annoyances for my girls.
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] are a little different but both classically feminine and beautiful… Certainly not different enough to cause any bother to the girls I wouldn’t think!
I have a pretty modern name whilst my brother has a very traditional biblical name - never caused any problems and never been mentioned by anyone.
I do think of [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] as more ‘modern’ than [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] due to how popular it’s been the last few years, but while they’re not a sibset I’d put together I wouldn’t say it’s unusuable by any means & I honestly don’t think it would affect or cause problems for the girls later in life.
Yes there is a major difference in popularity between [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]. But they are both classic, feminine, 3-syllable names.
I think they’re fine together! Yes they are different as far as origin, but they are both familiar/mainstream enough that they work. Like [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], would be, or someone recently posted about [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]. All beautiful, classic-ish enough to work together.
I tottally agree with all the previous posters. The names are not entirely matchy, but they are both beautiful. There will be no harm done to anyone if you went with [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] are of a very similar style as both have old roots but have come back in style big time more recently, they have a very timeless sound and vibe which, even if they will become less popular in the future, will keep them from being perceived as very dated, I think.
To me they are ceratinly a good match!
I know twins names Kharma and [name_u]Logan[/name_u]. THOSE are different names.
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], in my opinion, go together very well without being at all matchey. They are both classic and feminine. I think the only difference is that [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] is wildly popular right now, whereas [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] has been well used over a long period of time.
I’m wondering what you would think matches [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] in terms of style?
In any case, I love [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], adore [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], and think they will work brilliantly for sisters.
Well, I don’t feel like [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] is modern and at first I was surprised by it’s popularity, as well as the fact that I find it difficult to pair in a sibset! But the “oh” sound in names is trendy, and “eff” is also more and more trendy with both [name_f]Florence[/name_f] and [name_f]Frances[/name_f] rising now.
I think that back when [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] were popular at the same time, [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] would have seemed more extravagant than [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], which I believe was considered conservative.
But I think that each have a similar beauty, that’s emphasized by the fact that we don’t often see the name [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] anymore.
Quite the contrary! [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] are perfect sister names! They are both lovely, feminine, classic names. You could hardly do better.
I think they are both classic names, but with different backgrounds. [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], for whatever reason I think like a [name_m]French[/name_m] or Italian background. [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], to me has more of an English background (or [name_f]Carolina[/name_f] with more of a Spanish background). I guess I think of various monarch families from history but from different backgrounds.
I also feel that they are both getting modernized. I think you can get away with it. I like [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] together much better than matching letter names or rhyming names. Both your girls will be individual people, with individual names, and u think it’s a girl thing.
