Too Frilly or just right?

Hello Berries!

Ok, so we still have quite awhile to go (due [name_u]June[/name_u] 1st), but I think we may have found our top three choices for our baby girl! I like the idea of having three options, in case she arrives and the name we chose just doesn’t suit her. Plus, we have a boy name in case of any surprises! (Especially since they say she’s a girl - I know two different people who were surprised with little boys, though our technology has gotten better since then)

Anyways, our top three choices are [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] (nn [name_f]Lola[/name_f]). [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] is our favorite at the moment. [name_u]Gray[/name_u] is our surname.

([name_f]Louise[/name_f]/[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] honors my mother, [name_m]Jack[/name_m] honors his father. I also love the idea of [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] if she’s a redhead, which is a great possibility!)

My question - would combining the two to make [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] be a bit too frilly, or too much of a mouthful? We both love the sound of [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] Gr@y, but pause just a little bit on the complication of it.

(Also, I know that this is the Girl Name forum, but just an FYI - we have had our boy name, Macsen [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], picked out for many years)

Thanks Berries! Have a great new year!

Oh, and thank you to [name_u]Shilo[/name_u], who gave us the idea to combine [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]!

You’re welcome! You know I already love [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_u]Gray[/name_u]. I think it’s stunning and I love how it sounds out loud. I don’t think it’s too frilly because I don’t really think of [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] as a frilly name. It sounds strong and powerful to me. My second choice with be [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]. That one is also really nice. None of the options are bad [name_f]IMO[/name_f] and I’m sure she’ll be beautifully named no matter what

It’s a bit of a mouthful since the -lia and the [name_f]El[/name_f]- part are so close together but I wouldn’t say that it’s too frilly. It’s actually my favourite out of your combos with [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] being second

Ooh, I love it! I prefer [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] to [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] immensely.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] right! [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] is not a frilly name to me and I much prefer [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] to [name_f]Louise[/name_f]. I know a 5 year old [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] and she goes by the nn [name_f]Aura[/name_f]. I think it is a lovely name. My favorite from your list.

Phew! It’s nice to see even a few positive reactions! And interesting to read that a couple of you don’t see [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] as a frilly name! I find it quite frilly, myself, but that may be due to my typically almost-masculine tastes.

The more we say it aloud, the more we like it!!! DH especially!

Thanks ladies!

[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is amazing! But I love [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] also.

[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] is our top baby name, and I have found that the middle name that best compliments it with our last names is [name_f]Althea[/name_f]. Normally I’d say two names with the same ending isn’t that nice, but in this case the emphasis of the second name is at the front. [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] is a sound that tinkles upwards and the middle flows downwards, so it sound melodious - especially with our two last names.

Au.rel.i.a [name_f]El[/name_f].ou.ise
low.up.up.up down.down.up

I’d pick a middle that sounds like it’s going down. Emphasis on the beginning of the name.
I hope this makes sense.

I think [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is fine. [name_m]Both[/name_m] names are feminine, pretty and strong-sounding, and in combination I think they retain those qualities. If you guys are loving it, you should go for it!

I don’t think it’s too frilly. It is a bit of a mouthful, but - let’s face it - how often is anyone going to say it out loud? When said clearly, it sounds lovely, especially with your surname.

[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is a lovely name. No gilding the the lily there. A very pretty name.

[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] is a very pretty name. [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is just fine.

I like [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]. It is a bit of a mouthful but the middle is an honor name and people rarely use middle names.
I’d save [name_m]Jack[/name_m] for a boys name.

I do think it sounds frilly, but not in an overwhelming way. I like [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] a lot!

All of your top three choices are very pretty. [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] seems like a boy’s name to me, but that’s likely just because I know a young boy named [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]. Very cute for a redhead though!

[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] seems to flow better than [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] to me, despite the fact that I love the name [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]. Like others said, it’s a mouthful, but who really cares? The middle name is so rarely used that if you like it, go for it!

You lucked out with a nice surname. I have a Ukranian multisyllabic mess!

[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is unusual and interesting. I like it.

In the future, if you were ever to use [name_m]Macsen[/name_m] for a boy you might want to consider the sibset naming now. [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] and [name_m]Macsen[/name_m], [name_f]Lola[/name_f] and [name_m]Macsen[/name_m], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] and [name_m]Macsen[/name_m] – I’m not sure about [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] and [name_m]Macsen[/name_m]…

Best of luck!
