Too harsh/matchy?

I seem to be attracted to names that end in “an” or “in” sounds but my last name also ends in “in” as you can see by my username ([name]Griffin[/name]). My question is would these names be too harsh sounding or hard to say with my last name?

[name]Rowan[/name]
[name]Lillian[/name]
[name]Declan[/name]
[name]Kieran[/name]

They are a little more difficult to pronounce-- I think [name]Rowena[/name] [name]Griffin[/name] or [name]Lily[/name] [name]Griffin[/name] are better.

I think “[name]Lillian[/name] [name]Griffin[/name]” is ok, but the others would sound a little harsh together…

out of your boys list I think “[name]Wyatt[/name] [name]Griffin[/name]” flows really nicely…and has a cute country sound to it! (if you like that sort of thing)

I’d stay away from r sounds accompanied by the -in/-an ending. [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Griffin[/name] and [name]Kieran[/name] [name]Griffin[/name] are the hardest to pronounce for that reason. I agree with seraares that [name]Lillian[/name] [name]Griffin[/name] is nice, also because it has 3 syllables not 2 like all the others.

These all sound good:

[name]Benjamin[/name]
[name]Allison[/name]
[name]Caspian[/name]
[name]Damian[/name]
[name]Jillian[/name]
[name]Jonathan[/name]
[name]Madison[/name]

[name]Lillian[/name] [name]Griffin[/name] has a beautiful sort of symmetry to it without being matchy or harsh. It’s a beautiful choice.
I don’t really like [name]Kieran[/name] or [name]Declan[/name] much. I like other suggestions of [name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Jonathan[/name] instead.

I hear you. My last name ends in a similar sound and I can’t seem to find boys names that I love that end in anything else. It stinks. I unfortunately agree that [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Griffin[/name] and [name]Kieran[/name] [name]Griffin[/name] are the most difficult to pronounce, but I’m not sure why. I think it has something to do with their softer sound and maybe they aren’t strong enough to stand up to [name]Griffin[/name]. Which really stinks because those are two of my favorite boys’ names, so I really feel your pain. [name]Declan[/name] (another of my favorites!!) [name]Griffin[/name] is too rhymey for me, but it’s not hard to say, so it just depends on how you feel about rhyming names. [name]Lillian[/name] is the only one that doesn’t sound bad at all to my ears. I wonder if it also has something to do with the other three also being two-syllable names like [name]Griffin[/name]? Maybe some longer ones? [name]Maximilian[/name] and [name]Sebastian[/name] are two of my top favorites that we can’t use because they rhyme with our last name and are similar amounts of syllables, so it’s way overkill, but they sound great with [name]Griffin[/name]!

Thanks for the feedback, i’m glad [name]Lillian[/name] flows alright because that is my favorite of the lot. The others will sadly end up in name limbo most likely. Cathyc, I love [name]Sebastian[/name] if I can get my husband to go for it

I don’t think it’s a big deal, really. My first and last name end in the -en sound (-in and -on respectively), as well as starting with the same letter, and I’ve gotten nothing but compliments. If you really love the name, I don’t see it as a problem. I actually think [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Griffin[/name] is lovely, although gender ambiguous.
