Hello!
So I’ve been thinking about the name [name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], [name_f]Natalia[/name_f], and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] lately. I like vintage and feminine names, which is why I’m not really sure on [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]. I feel like it sounds a bit too hipster and childish. And for the others, all of them sound vintage to me, but I’m worried that [name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f] might sounds too made-up to people. For [name_f]Natalia[/name_f], I like it, but I don’t absolutely [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] it. Also, it’s so long so it definitely need a nickname, but I don’t really love any of the choices. And the only problem I have with [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] that sometimes I feel like it’s not feminine enough, if you get what I mean.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] Incase you need this, I have several nicknames for each name.
[name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f]: [name_f]Claire[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Bella[/name_f], and maybe [name_f]Belle[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]: [name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_f]Evie[/name_f], and maybe [name_f]Lainey[/name_f]
[name_f]Natalia[/name_f]: [name_u]Nat[/name_u], [name_m]Natty[/name_m], [name_f]Lilly[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]: since it is already short and ends in a long E sound, I don’t really have a nickname for it. The only one I can think of is Phoeb, pronounced ph-EE-b.
So what do you guys think? Which one do you like the best and WHY?
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.
Here are my thoughts:
[name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f]-I don’t think that this is necessarily made up sounding. It’s just two names put together. It’s kind of cute. I don’t personally care for double names, but it’s sort of fun and different.
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]-I don’t like this name much. It just has a very specific meaning that’s a lot to live up to. I do love [name_f]Eve[/name_f] & [name_f]Evie[/name_f].
[name_f]Natalia[/name_f]-I don’t mind this. It’s not my favorite, but it’s perfectly nice. What about the nn [name_u]Tali[/name_u]? I think that’s adorable.
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]-Maybe the nn [name_f]Bee[/name_f]? That makes it a little more vintage feeling. I like [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]. I understand your concern w/it sounding too young, but there are plenty of adult Kellys, Mollys, Abbys, etc. running around. [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] is 320 on the SSA list. I would have thought way higher.
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] is my favorite from the list. It has a fun & spunky feeling to it, and also is a Greek mythology name. That’s pretty vintage!
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.
[name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f] is not made up sounding to me, it is just 100% cow. I think of nothing but the cow from [name_u]Mickey[/name_u] Mouse, and I think a lot of other people will too.
I don’t like [name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f], especially this spelling. I think [name_f]Claribel[/name_f] is a bit better. I love [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]. It is very beautiful, poetic, and decidedly feminine in my opinion. Bringer of good news is an excellent meaning, too
I like [name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f] and I don’t think it sounds made-up though I definitely prefer the [name_f]Claribel[/name_f] spelling.
[name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f]: This makes me think of a cow, sorry!
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]: I agree that it doesn’t feel super feminine. I think for me, it’s just all the hard sounds in the name. I still really like it though. It goes really well as a middle name and is a subtle honor name to me.
[name_f]Natalia[/name_f]: I think [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] is lovely, though I prefer [name_f]Natasha[/name_f] and [name_f]Natalie[/name_f]. I agree that it needs a nickname, but I don’t see that as a problem. I love [name_u]Nat[/name_u], as well as [name_u]Tally[/name_u] and [name_f]Talia[/name_f]. [name_f]Lilly[/name_f] kind of seems a stretch.
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]: I’m not sure I would call [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] hipster, as it is a pretty established and traditional name. However, it is just not for me and I also don’t find it particularly visually appealing.
I adore [name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Natalia[/name_f]. I love very feminine names too. [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] is cute name, just not my favorite. [name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f] doesn’t sound made-up to me. It’s very feminine and adorable. [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is sweet and delicate. [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] is an amazing name. It’s tradicional, strong and elegant. What about [name_f]Talia[/name_f]/[name_f]Thalia[/name_f] and [name_f]Lia[/name_f] for nicknames?
Ok let’s see …
First off I think they go well together.
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] is Greek, like [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] … The feel of names like this is different but no less legitimate. I do think especially due to the friends association that this name can feel a little ‘hippie’ but I wouldn’t worry about that. it means radiant, shining one. Fi could be a good nn - pronounced [name_u]Fee[/name_u]
[name_f]Natalia[/name_f] is Latin, and along with all the other lovely -lia names is very feminine and has various different ‘vibes’ it feels a little ecclectic, even ‘hippie’ and maybe a little flair - [name_u]Nat[/name_u], [name_u]Ali[/name_u], [name_f]Lia[/name_f] are all great nns ,
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is Greek and has a classic feel, very timeless but also current with its Ev- , means bearer of good news. I think it feels very feminine but it does begin with [name_u]Evan[/name_u] though there isn’t an actual connection between the names. This I like best from your list, [name_f]Eve[/name_f], Ev, [name_f]Evie[/name_f] are great nns
[name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f] - again is Latin and means bright and beautiful. I like it BUT it’s been used to evoke pleasantness so in old films often livestock are called this. But also cute little kids. I may prefer a simpler [name_f]Clara[/name_f] if paired right with a middle name. More because though that -a-bell nAmes as much as I like them read a bit as words. It doesn’t feel made up too me though no. My favourite [name_u]Clair[/name_u] names are [name_f]Claire[/name_f] & [name_f]Clarity[/name_f] though in case you’re looking around at alternatives.
As a sibset theyre all classic, between 2-4 syllables and begin with different letters and end with different sounds… They share at least in my mind a similar vibe and I like them together
For combinations I would do
[name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Natalia[/name_f]
I think I like the sound of them combined like that best and the longest names as middles seems to work in this case
[name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f] doesn’t seem made up to me but it does remind most people of cows… It’s still cute but not particularly mature to my ear. Please note I live in a dairy farm community so cow associations may be stronger here.
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] I find very feminine. I struggle with finding it too feminine and too religious. But I know to some people those are two categories that excess doesn’t exist…
[name_f]Natalia[/name_f] is lovely. I would probably use the nickname [name_f]Talia[/name_f] or [name_f]Nia[/name_f].
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] is one if the very few names ending in the EE sound that I don’t find cutesy but quite elegant. Though it doesn’t need a nickname pheebs, [name_f]Fifi[/name_f], [name_f]Bebe[/name_f], or [name_f]Bee[/name_f] could all be options. We considered [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] for my daughter which also allowed the nickname PJ.
[name_f]Natalia[/name_f] is super feminine and my favorite.
The others do sound “extra” or made-up. [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] is just kind of basic.
[name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f] seems pretty to me. I don’t remember hearing it anywhere. [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Bella[/name_f] are my preferred nicknames.
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] sounds very feminine and girls to be. It reminds me of [name_f]Angelica[/name_f]. Definitely girly, but I guess not very frilly. I like [name_f]Evie[/name_f] as a nickname.
[name_f]Natalia[/name_f] is nice. The only [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] I know goes simply by [name_f]Natalia[/name_f]. Talk is cute, as is [name_f]Talia[/name_f], which is a name in its own right.
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] doesn’t sound too young to me. I only know one [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], and she’s my age (20). She occasionally goes by Phoeb of Phoebs, but I don’t think it needs a nickname. [name_f]Fifi[/name_f] or Fi is more cutesy for a younger child.
I think [name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f] is beautiful. I know of two [name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f] 's and one has the NN [name_u]Clare[/name_u] bear😊
I think [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is very feminine! I like it. I don’t care for phoebe and I like just [name_f]Clara[/name_f]
I like [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] best from your list. [name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f] just reminds me of the clown on Howdy Doody-- what about [name_f]Clarissa[/name_f] instead? [name_f]Clary[/name_f] is a great and unique nn. [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] is okay-- I like [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Natasha[/name_f] better.
I don’t think [name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f] is too made-up-ish. Although that spelling flows better, the [name_f]Claribel[/name_f] spelling makes it look less like two names put together. I love [name_f]Clara[/name_f] as the nickname!
