I like [name]Aria[/name] and I wouldn’t worry about anyone calling her Area. It is rising in popularity, but don’t worry about the A name thing. My name starts with an A and now that I think of it a lot of girls I know have names starting with As but I have never got “lost in the crowd” before. It is just one letter and it can make a lot of different sounds, so I wouldn’t worry about it.
I agree that [name]Ariana[/name] might be an option to get the correct pronunciation with [name]Aria[/name] as a nn.
Also, unless these are family members you see once a week and all are known by their first names I don’t think it would be a huge issue, as you say A names are popular for girls.
If you’re not feeling strongly about it though I think being open to other options is a good idea.
Other names that have a similar feel to me:
[name]Irena[/name]
[name]Raina[/name]
[name]Amirah[/name]
[name]Lyric[/name]
[name]Amelie[/name]
I think it can work fine, and I’ve never though to say [name]Aria[/name] as Area, I used to say it [name]Ah[/name]-rye-ah, until I actually heard it. She’s safe from area imo.
