Too many "Henry"s?

If been iffy on the name [name_m]Henry[/name_m] for a while. I wanted to love it. Its distinguished, it isn’t too common where I am, it isn’t too nerdy and I like the nn [name_m]Hank[/name_m]. Then I found the family tree for DH’s family.
His uncle is a [name_m]Harry[/name_m] (who goes by [name_m]Ned[/name_m]), his uncle’s son is a [name_m]Henry[/name_m], called [name_m]Hal[/name_m]. His grandfather is a [name_m]Harry[/name_m] as is his grandfather, [name_m]Henry[/name_m] who preferred [name_m]Harry[/name_m], and his great grandfather [name_m]Harry[/name_m] who also went by [name_m]Ned[/name_m]. So essentially: [name_m]Harry[/name_m] had a son named [name_m]Henry[/name_m] who had a son named [name_m]Harry[/name_m], who in turn named his son [name_m]Harry[/name_m] and finally the youngest [name_m]Harry[/name_m] had a son named [name_m]Henry[/name_m].
I think us having a little [name_m]Henry[/name_m] might be too much even if he goes by [name_m]Hank[/name_m]. We don’t see that side of the family since we live so far away and we have a different last name but it seems “worn” for lack of a better word. [name_f]My[/name_f] family has the same issue with [name_m]Robert[/name_m] so that’s a contender off the lost as well.
What do you all think? Too much or a nice family connection?

Personally, I love names that have been passed done through the generations. For me, this holds lots of meaning. Perhaps using a non-family name with [name_m]Henry[/name_m] may help to add some personality or individuality (ie [name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] might be too much for one child).

It sounds like most of the men with this name don’t actually go by [name_m]Henry[/name_m], and you mentioned that you don’t see them often, so it shouldn’t be confusing.

Good luck!

I think it is kinda cool - but only if he really likes his family!

All my kids have a family name in the first or middle spot because I think it anchors them to the family.

Sounds like [name_m]Henry[/name_m] is simply a tried and true family name. So are [name_m]John[/name_m], [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]William[/name_m], and [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] for most people, but I think the family history makes the name more special.

I just don’t know. His entire family is a repetition of the same six or seven names over and over and over including middle names. [name_f]Every[/name_f] once in a while a gem pops up that hasn’t been used recently like DH’s name which is a family surname.
With the excessive use of family names makes me want to go to the opposite end. Meaningful but not a family name.
