We have a list of top girls names that we are pretty happy with. We also have a list of possible middles that are all family names ([name]Leona[/name], [name]Louisa[/name], [name]Olive[/name], [name]Kelley[/name]). The problem is that all of our first names have L’s in them, and all of the middles have L’s in them too. Is it too many L’s? Here are our top combos. If you think our name combos are too L heavy, please suggest other girls names that are of a similar style. Thanks! If it helps, our last name has no L’s. Sibling names are in my signature.
[name]Just[/name] wondering why this baby #4 is gettting two middle names while your other children only have one? Are you trying to cram all of the family names into this child’s combo? Maybe use only one family mn and that may solve your problem. It totally depends on where the “L” falls in the name (what syllable). Back to back l’s aren’t good ([name]Violet[/name] [name]Leona[/name]). [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Louisa[/name], [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Leona[/name] and [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Olive[/name] sound better.
No, I don’t think so. ^^
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Violet[/name] [name]Leona[/name] [name]Kelley[/name] and [name]Helena[/name] [name]Olive[/name] [name]Louisa[/name]! :3
@[name]Mischa[/name], we originally moved to two middles to try to conquer the multiple L’s problem (and to be able to use my aunt’s name, [name]Kelley[/name], which doesn’t flow well with a lot of our first name coices). But now I also like the fact that it gives us the opportunity to honor two family members (and this is definitely our last baby). Our daughter [name]Genevieve[/name] also has two middles, but her second middle is my maiden name, so I don’t list it here.
You’re welcome! ^^ - I’m born with many S sounds in my name, which might be why I don’t consider this a problem. And then your daughter (if it’s a girl :3) might feel the same way!
@shieldc - Ok, got it! So you want [name]Kelley[/name] for sure and the other name has to be either [name]Louisa[/name], [name]Leona[/name] or [name]Olive[/name]…I think [name]Kelley[/name] sounds best as the second mn. [name]Juliet[/name], [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Felicity[/name] are my faves with [name]Madelyn[/name] and [name]Genevieve[/name].
Thanks [name]Mischa[/name]! I like [name]Kelley[/name] best as the second middle, too. Almost like another surname, which works well since [name]Genevieve[/name]'s second middle is also a surname.
Thanks! My hubby likes [name]Lorelei[/name] the most, but it is so hard to get any of the middles to flow with [name]Lorelei[/name] (and it isn’t my favorite name at all). He’s starting to like [name]Felicity[/name] more, and I’m working on [name]Juliet[/name] and [name]Violet[/name]. I just love [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Kelley[/name]!
I think picking a combo with [name]Violet[/name] in the mix is a good idea because the L feels less dominant sound-wise. For me, using [name]Violet[/name] kind of makes [name]Olive[/name] unusable. Two colors in one name is too much for me. [name]Kelley[/name] is fine though, I don’t only think green. The middle names all happen to be O heavy too, aside from [name]Kelley[/name]. This makes [name]Felicity[/name] appealing cause it has no O.
I didn’t even think about [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Olive[/name] both being colors. Thanks! We are considering going with just the one middle (though our daughter [name]Genevieve[/name] does have two – the second one is my maiden name and not listed here). If we did just one middle, I’m leaning towards [name]Louisa[/name]. My [name]MIL[/name]'s middle name is [name]Lou[/name], after her grandmother [name]Louisa[/name]. If we did a second middle, it would likely be [name]Kelley[/name] (my aunt). So…
[name]Felicity[/name] [name]Louisa[/name] ([name]Kelley[/name])
[name]Violet[/name] [name]Louisa[/name]
[name]Lorelei[/name] [name]Louisa[/name] (this just does not work, though )
[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Louisa[/name]
[name]Helena[/name] [name]Louise[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Louisa[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name] [name]Louisa[/name]
We’ve had our boy name set for a while, now. It will probably turn out to be a boy, considering how much we have fretted over the girls’ names! Thanks for all the feedback!
