[name_m]Hi[/name_m]
We’d love to call our little girl [name_f]Rose[/name_f] but I have two family members (aunt and a cousin) with rose related names. Both go by [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] as a nn ( which we would use too). They are on different sides on my family but I’m a bit concerned people in my family will say ’ oh another [name_f]Rose[/name_f]!’ We don’t see them all that much ( once or twice a year)
What are your thoughts on this? Should we be concerned or stick with the name we love?
Thanks
Personally, I wouldn’t do it, but I see no problem with it if you aren’t close.
I don’t see a problem. My sister recently gave birth to an [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] and we already have two cousins called [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] (one each side of the family). We probably see them up to twice a year and no one has said a thing.
I wouldn’t do it either. I have a cousin with one of my favourite names, and though I’d give a son a different nickname, and I only see my cousin once every two years, for me its still too close.
I think you should use [name_f]Rose[/name_f]! I love the idea of using names within one’s family tree! Added bonus: [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is a beautiful, classic name!
Since you don’t see them all that much, I think it would be fine. If you spent a lot of time around each other it would probably get confusing, but in your situation I would use it. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is a beautiful, classic name If you don’t quite feel comfortable with it though, maybe a variant of [name_f]Rose[/name_f]? You could still call her [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] as a nickname.
Suggestions:
[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosamond[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosaline[/name_f]
Rosmerta
I say go for it. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is a beautiful, classic name that I love as well! I’ve never seen problems with naming in my family (actually, both sides tend to be pretty creative with names) so I can’t say I can relate. Although if you see them only once or twice a year I think it would be fine.
