Too many "um"s?

So my top name for a girl is currently [name_u]Tatum[/name_u]. I think it’s adorable. [name_f]My[/name_f] top boy name is currently [name_m]Callum[/name_m]. I love this name to pieces and think [name_u]Cal[/name_u] is a great nn.

Obviously both names end in “um”. If I was to be lucky enough to have a boy and girl, would it be totally out of the question to use these names together as a sib set?

I don’t mind matching endings nearly as much as matchy beginnings. As long as your last name doesn’t end in -um, I think it’s fine.

It is matchy, but so are plenty of other sibsets out there. It really depends on if it bothers you personally. I think [name_u]Tatum[/name_u] and [name_m]Callum[/name_m] are too similar for my taste, but I wouldn’t think much about it if I met two children with those names.

I feel the same way.

Well said.

I wouldn’t pay much mind if I heard the names. It’s seeing them written that draws my attention to their endings.

Would you consider [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] instead of [name_m]Callum[/name_m] to get the nn [name_u]Cal[/name_u] but avoid the ‘um’ ending.

I like [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] also, but a family member had a little boy about 6 months ago and named him [name_m]Calvin[/name_m]. Seems a little too close for comfort…

I totally agree
