Too many X's???

[name]Hi[/name] Berries!

We were lucky enough to have a beautiful baby boy 14 months ago, whom we named [name]Xavier[/name]. We are now ttc #2 and I have found myself loving [name]Xanthe[/name] for a girl and [name]Xander[/name] for a boy… Would these names be a bit too much as siblings for [name]Xavier[/name]? I have seen other sibsets that share the first letter, but because X is a bit more unusual, would it be corny or lame to have more than one child with this initial?

For two siblings maybe, but three? Probably not. I wouldn’t use [name]Xander[/name] with [name]Xavier[/name] though, since they both start with Xa and end in the same sound. But then again [name]Xanthe[/name] sounds similar too, [name]Zan[/name]-thee ([name]Xanthe[/name]) and Zay-vee-er )[name]Xavier[/name]…Unless of course you pronounce [name]Xavier[/name] like ig-zay-vee-er.

Personally I wouldn’t do it because of the similar sounds and letters.

Other berries might have better advice though.

I think [name]Xanthe[/name] could work, but no so much with [name]Xander[/name]. Also, I would’t use more than two ‘X’ names. But of course the decision is up to you and your partner. Congrars and good luck!

I’m with jaderain, [name]Xanthe[/name] works but with a third child name [name]Xander[/name] I think it would be too much similiarity because of the similar sounds. I love [name]Xanthe[/name] and “x” names too!

[name]How[/name] do you pronounce [name]Xavier[/name]? If it’s “x-zay-vee-er” then having sibs named [name]Xander[/name] and [name]Xanthe[/name] will cause [name]Xavier[/name]'s name to constantly be mispronounce.

I think [name]Xavier[/name] “zay-vee-er” and [name]Xanthe[/name] make an awesome pair- very stylish and sleek. [name]Xander[/name] is nicknamey and trendy. It lacks the style and maturity of [name]Xavier[/name] and [name]Xanthe[/name]

I agree with previous posters. [name]Xanthe[/name] yes, [name]Xander[/name] no.

I wouldn’t do [name]Xander[/name], for all the reasons mentioned above. And I would only use [name]Xanthe[/name] if you pronounce [name]Xavier[/name] ZAY-vee-er, not eck-[name]SAY[/name]-vee-er. Otherwise [name]Xavier[/name] will be mispronounced and [name]Xanthe[/name], which already might be difficult for some to pronounce, will be even more confusing to some.

Thanks everyone! We pronounce it zay-vee-er, I was having the same thoughts as all of you, just needed them confirmed  We are currently thinking of trying to have 3 kids, so maybe a second X name isn’t the best idea because if we have a third then the last one will seem out of place if they don’t have one too! My husband is terrible when it comes to names, so I like to plan way ahead, but I am finding it really hard to find names that go well with [name]Xavier[/name]…

If your planning on having more than two kids I wouldn’t do it. It would be very obvious the eldest two having ‘X’ names and then the youngest not. Maybe use another name for your next baby and come back to the ‘X’ names when/if you come around to your third, as it wouldn’t look themey then.

I adore [name]Xanthe[/name]. [name]Xavier[/name] and [name]Xanthe[/name] works okay.

But the only way I could do 2+ X names is to expand the theme a little.

Can we add just has an x in it?
[name]Beatrix[/name], [name]Felix[/name], [name]Phoenix[/name], [name]Calixta[/name], [name]Alexander[/name]? I think [name]Alexander[/name] flatters [name]Xavier[/name] much more than [name]Xander[/name] (which is usually a NN for [name]Alexander[/name] anyway) does, as the repetitive x- and -er is broken up by more sounds.

Id use it with a Z! insetad so not too many x’s lol [name]Xavier[/name] and [name]Zander[/name] sound ok x

I like the X’s! I do think that [name]Xander[/name] and [name]Xavier[/name] are too similar.

I don’t think it’s a problem unless you then have a third child you name something completely different, like [name]Xavier[/name], [name]Xanthe[/name] and [name]Karen[/name]. That would sound weird in my opinion, but it might just be me. Also, I wouldn’t name siblings [name]Xanthe[/name] and [name]Xander[/name] - the names are just too similar. However, [name]Xavier[/name] and [name]Xanthe[/name] sound adorable together. If you need some inspiration for x-names, [name]Xenia[/name], [name]Xerxes[/name] and [name]Xanthos[/name] are all great names.
