[name]Just[/name] found out this afternoon that we are having a girl! Our son’s name is [name]Callahan[/name] and we were planning to name the baby [name]Sullivan[/name] if it was a boy. I love the name. Thinking of Sullivann for a girl…thoughts? I love the 2 n’s because I have them at the end of my name as well
I’m not a fan of [name]Sullivan/name on a girl at all, sorry. It’s way too masculine to me–I can’t imagine it on a girl at all. I would save it for a second son, if you’re blessed with one in the future.
What about something like Ariann(e), [name]Lillian[/name]/[name]Liliane[/name], [name]Julianne[/name], [name]Brianne[/name], [name]Vivianne[/name], etc.?
Congratulations on your little girl!
The name is most definitely too masculine, and misspelling it does not make it a feminine name I’m afraid. [name]How[/name] about:
[name]Susannah[/name]
[name]Julia[/name]
[name]Tallulah[/name]
[name]Roseanne[/name]
Annelien
[name]Arianne[/name]
[name]Corinne[/name]
[name]Fabienne[/name]
[name]Lucienne[/name]
[name]Rhiannon[/name]
Sunniva
[name]Zinnia[/name]
I agree that it’s way too masculine. I know someone naming their baby boy this when he’s born soon. I really like PP’s suggestions!
If I met boy/girl sibs named [name]Callahan[/name] & [name]Sullivan[/name] I’d think [name]Callahan[/name] was the girl because of the nn [name]Calla[/name]
This was my thought too.
I think [name]Sullivan[/name] could work on a girl. What I don’t really like is that your son’s name is so close. You cannot tell who is the boy and who is the girl. I always feel that if you choose a boy name for a girl you should choose a 100% masculine name for your boy, one that is totally different in style from your daughters name so you can see a gender difference.
Oh but please do not change the spelling. That never makes a boy name more feminine, just more wrong.
I’m not a fan, especially if it’s misspelled. [name]Way[/name] too masculine, and I agree with pps that it would be difficult to tell which child is which gender by looking at the names. If it’s a family name, you could use it as a middle with a feminine first name maybe. Or you could save it for your next son.
I think it’s extremely masculine and paired with your son’s name, I would definitely assume she was a boy.
My thought too! I also think [name]Sullivan[/name] is too masculine. What about [name]Simone[/name] for a girl instead?
I’m usually cool with gender neutral names but I’m positive that people will assume that you have 2 sons, and if they hazard a guess at which one is the girl, as others have said- they would most likely go with [name]Callahan[/name] (I know I would).
That, and I can’t stand the American trend (at least I think it’s pretty American? Correct me if I’m wrong) of using surnames as first names- but that is just my personal preference.
I honestly think you could find something gender neutral or something slightly feminine that is a bit nicer (someone mentioned [name]Vivienne[/name]- I like that with [name]Callahan[/name]) and definitely no way on the spelling change!!
Sorry, it’s probably not what you want to hear
It’s just really masculine. I’d assume siblings with those names were brothers.
I love the name [name]Sullivan[/name], but I really think this one should stay with the boys.
[name]Sheridan[/name]?
Addisan?
[name]Jordana[/name]?
[name]Hayden[/name]?
[name]Kayden[/name]?
NOOOO!!! oh god!!!it is realllllllly masculine…
It’s far too masculine, and the spelling change is just not making it more feminine.
I agree with previous posters that [name]Sullivan[/name] is a little too masculine and might be best reserved for a brother. I think [name]Callahan[/name] is really cool and might sound good with [name]Madigan[/name] as a sister.
You could add the second “n” too. She could go by [name]Ann[/name], [name]Annie[/name], [name]Maddie[/name]…lots of nicknames possibilities.
I like [name]Callahan[/name] & [name]Sullivan[/name] together, but I do agree they sound like brothers.
[name]Madigan[/name] is a great suggestion, or how about Milligan? [name]Callahan[/name] & Milligan nn [name]Milly[/name] is very cute!
Are you planning to have more children?
Definitively two masculine. What about [name]Susan[/name], Shaylynn, or [name]Shannon[/name] if you want an S name. [name]How[/name] about [name]Roselyn[/name], [name]Joselyn[/name], [name]Lillian[/name], [name]Madison[/name], Geralynn, Gloriann, or Krysalyn if you want a 3 syllable name like [name]Callahan[/name].
What about [name]Sylvaine[/name], sylvie or [name]Sylvia[/name]?
