Too Matchy Matchy?

Please help. 39 weeks preg and having major name doubts😞

My son’s name is Luca. We’re now expecting a girl, and I love the name Luna. Ive been trying to accept Ella as an alternative but I keep missing Luna.

My husband thinks its dumb to have 2 similar names like Luca and Luna for siblings.

Be honest with me. How bad is it? Please vote.

Thanks friends xx

  • It’s cute
  • No its pretty dumb

Perhaps you could have Luna as a middle name (or even as a second middle name)?

Way too close. There’s only a one letter difference and they sound really similar. if Ella isn’t feeling right, maybe you should search for additional options

Yes looks like it will be a middle name

Hi there! Congratulations on the soon arrival of baby girl!
Yes, unfortunately, I do agree that Luca & Luna are too similar for siblings. I expect it to be very common to love names that are very similar, but can’t be used for siblings. I really love the idea as Luna as a middle name. Then you don’t have to completely give up a name that you truly love. However, Ella Luna doesn’t have the best flow.

What about:

Penelope Luna
Ruby Luna
Vivian Luna
Isabel Luna
Sofie Luna
Evelyn Luna
Elizabeth Luna “Ella”
Eleanor Luna “Ella”

If you’ve already decided on another middle name and not truly in love with Ella, these come to mind that have a similar style to both Ella & Luna:

Mila
Nora
Stella
Isla
Ivy
Lily
Olive
Cora
Zoe

Maybe you would like a name with a similar sound to [name_f]Luna[/name_f]? What about [name_f]Runa[/name_f] (or maybe even [name_u]Rune[/name_u], [name_u]Rue[/name_u], or Rooney)? [name_u]Or[/name_u] something with the [name_f]Lu[/name_f]- sound like [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] or [name_u]Louise[/name_u]. [name_u]Or[/name_u] since you’re considering [name_f]Ella[/name_f] then maybe [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] would work for you since it has the same [name_f]El[/name_f]- sound as [name_f]Ella[/name_f] but has the same [name_f]Lu[/name_f]- sound as [name_f]Luna[/name_f].

Thanks for the suggestions

[name_m]Way[/name_m] too similar unfortunately!! You might like [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] as an alternative? Best of luck!

I do think they are too similar.
I like the suggestions of using it as a middle name.
One suggestion/alternative i haven’t seen is Evaluna/Eveluna (or perhaps Evelina).

I’m sorry but yeah they are definitely too close for me. They are both beautiful names though. I’m so sorry you can’t use [name_f]Luna[/name_f].

I know of siblings named [name_u]Luca[/name_u] & [name_f]Lola[/name_f] which might appeal to you. [name_f]Lola[/name_f] kind of combines [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_f]Luna[/name_f] without sharing too many sounds with [name_u]Luca[/name_u]

You could also try flipping some letters around to create more of a distinct sound, separate from [name_u]Luca[/name_u]. How about:

[name_f]Nola[/name_f]
[name_f]Nala[/name_f]

Could also try:

[name_f]Juna[/name_f]
[name_f]Lena[/name_f]
[name_f]Mena[/name_f]
[name_f]Mila[/name_f]
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f]
[name_f]Anya[/name_f]

Good luck!

Too close for me I’m afraid. I second the suggestions of [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f] and [name_f]Stella[/name_f]

I’ll also throw in the suggestions [name_f]Una[/name_f], [name_f]Aurora[/name_f],

Luca and Luna are to close together. If you need to put it into perspective go into your house and yell out the two names. Will one kid get confused when you call out the other name.

For Luna you could always use a double name like Ella-Luna …

I would go with something different

What about
Luca & Nova
Luca & Nora
Luca & Estella
Luca & Estelle
Luca & Stella
Luca & Chloe
Luca & Zoe
Luca & Thea
Luca & Cora
Luca & Clara
Luca & Lena
Luca & Lexi
Luca & Kaia
Luca & Lilah
Luca & Rhea
