Too Matchy?!?!?

My little girl is [name]Mahalia[/name] and one of the top names on my list for a boy is [name]Micah[/name]. [name]Do[/name] these names sound too matchy together or do they work together?

I think they work very well together.

They are too similar for me, and they share almost the exact same letters.

What happens if you have a 3rd child? 4th child? What do you name them? [name]Mahalia[/name] and [name]Micah[/name] is setting yourself up with a theme, and it’s not just that they begin with ‘M’ it’s the rest of the letters they share in common. If it were [name]Mahalia[/name] & [name]Morgan[/name], [name]Mahalia[/name] & [name]Moses[/name] it wouldn’t be too bad, even though same letter names aren’t for me really.

I should also clarify there will be no more children. Two is the limit but I appreciate all the feedback both negative and positive.

I like [name]Morgan[/name] as well Lizabethrose

In my opinion, they are too close, but it’s really your opinion that matters. If you think they are different enough then that’s fine. My fiance’s sister’s girls are [name]Nora[/name] and [name]Nina[/name], which I think are too close, but she’s fine with it, so it’s really a personal preference…

I don’t think she plans on having more children either, but since she recently divorced, she might later on…

Also Lizabethrose sounds awful, sorry, it looks totally made up, Elizabeth Rose as a name is fine… Lizabethrose just looks Elizabeth Rose smooshed together.

Haha, I think she was just referring to my signature because I have ‘Lizabethrose’ in there, which obviously isn’t my real name but what I like to have on here.

If it’s just two children then it isn’t so bad but not something I’d choose. [name]Mahalia[/name] and [name]Morgan[/name] would be better, than [name]Mahalia[/name] and [name]Micah[/name].

oh haha, I misread it as “as well as” my bad! lol

I think they’re too close because they have the exact same sounds, but if you are fine with it, then go for it

I think [name]Mahalia[/name] (which is lovely) and [name]Morgan[/name] would be better. I’ll assume you only want M names so here’s some others I think sound great with [name]Mahalia[/name]:

[name]Mahalia[/name] & [name]Milo[/name]
[name]Mahalia[/name] & [name]Malachi[/name]
[name]Mahalia[/name] & [name]Malcolm[/name]
[name]Mahalia[/name] & [name]Malik[/name]
[name]Mahalia[/name] & [name]Malone[/name]
[name]Mahalia[/name] & [name]Marlowe[/name]
[name]Mahalia[/name] & [name]Marshall[/name]
[name]Mahalia[/name] & [name]Matteo[/name]
[name]Mahalia[/name] & [name]Maxwell[/name]
[name]Mahalia[/name] & [name]Merritt[/name]
[name]Mahalia[/name] & [name]Miles[/name]
[name]Mahalia[/name] & [name]Monroe[/name]

Side note:: Catloverd:: I just noticed you have a cat named Calcifer and I <3 that. Howl’s Moving Castle, which is where I’m assuming you got it from, is one of my favorite Miyazaki movies and I think it’d make a cool middle name for a real kid one day

Thanks for the input… great suggestions dantea. [name]Malcolm[/name] is also on my list. If anybody else has suggestions I really appreciate them.

I think they sound beautiful together, not too similar. But I also love [name]Mahalia[/name] and [name]Malcolm[/name] – better than all the other suggestions. I also like the suggestion of [name]Mahalia[/name] and [name]Moses[/name] because they sound good together, but [name]Moses[/name] always makes me cringe because it seems super trendy. It’s just not my style. If it fits your style, though, they sound lovely together.

I like [name]Malcom[/name] too, are you looking for m names?

Yep, the movie was actually based off the book, which is one of my favorites. It’s by Diana Wynne Jones. Howl’s Moving Castle was the first movie my fiance’ and I watched on our first date. Calcifer was our favorite character and since Calcifer was our first cat, we gave him a special name  We obviously can’t use it as a name for our kid now, lol, but I don’t think my fiance’ would have allowed that anyway… lol
