We recently found out that I am pregnant with our surprise shock baby. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband’s grandmother recently passed away, and I was hoping to use her name, [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f], in some way- maybe with the nickname [name_f]Margo[/name_f]. Unfortunantly, with our last name, which is close to [name_m]McGee[/name_m] I’m afraid it is too matchy. So, is [name_f]Margo[/name_f] [name_m]McGee[/name_m] too matchy or is it a cute matchy (if that is even possible)?
I think [name_f]Margo[/name_f] [name_m]McGee[/name_m] is fine. I mean it’s a bit cutesy but workable, they’re similar sounding but distinct and well-known within themselves.
To honour a [name_f]Margorie[/name_f], you could pretty much use anything that stems from or relates to [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]; [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f], [name_f]Megan[/name_f], [name_f]Molly[/name_f], [name_f]Greta[/name_f], [name_f]Rita[/name_f], [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], [name_f]Mamie[/name_f], [name_f]Madge[/name_f], [name_f]Mairead[/name_f], [name_f]Gretchen[/name_f], [name_f]Margareta[/name_f]. I do think [name_f]Margo[/name_f] is adorable and a great way to honour [name_f]Margorie[/name_f], but if you did want something a bit less matchy these could all work.
I think [name_f]Margo[/name_f] [name_m]McGee[/name_m] is fine. I really like [name_f]Margo[/name_f].
I really love the sound of [name_f]Margo[/name_f] [name_m]McGee[/name_m] – I’m an absolute sucker for alliteration. I also love the name [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]. It’s too bad [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] [name_m]McGee[/name_m] is a bit over the top. I think I might prefer [name_f]Margot[/name_f] as a full name and [name_f]Margo[/name_f] as a nickname.
[name_f]Margo[/name_f] [name_m]McGee[/name_m] is fine. But I’d change the spelling to [name_f]Margot[/name_f], just so both names don’t end in a vowel.
But that’s just my name OCD though.
I love [name_f]Margo[/name_f] [name_m]McGee[/name_m], it sounds great!!! But i think [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_m]McGee[/name_m] sounds good too
[name_f]Margo[/name_f] [name_m]McGee[/name_m] is fabulous! I personally prefer the spelling [name_f]Margot[/name_f], but either way, it’s lovely.
I love [name_f]Margo[/name_f] [name_m]McGee[/name_m]!
[name_f]Margo[/name_f] [name_m]McGee[/name_m] is very cutesy but I think it works. It’s easy to spell, pronounce, and it’s highly memorable. I really [name_f]Greta[/name_f] [name_m]McGee[/name_m] if that is an option or [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] [name_m]McGee[/name_m].
I do not think [name_f]Margo[/name_f] [name_m]McGee[/name_m] is at all horrible! In fact I think it is lovely. Yes it is alliteration, and yes to some people alliteration = matchy, but I think the meaning behind the name is too beautiful to pass up.
Thank you all so much for your input. I thought I had my husband on board with it, but now that we are getting more serious about names, he is starting to become a bit hesitant. I will show him all of your responses though. I do love [name_f]Greta[/name_f] and wanted it for our first little girl. He immediately vetoed it though.
