Too Much Beatles?

I’m due in 2 months and my husband and I have finally narrowed down the middle name if we have a boy (we didn’t find out gender). The first name is for sure going to be [name]Jude[/name]. The problem is, the name we fell in love with for a middle name is [name]Rigby[/name]. We love both of the names for reasons not involving the Beatles, but is it too much of a connection? If we didn’t bring up the Beatle connection, do you think people would jump to that anyway? Opinions please!!

I think the Beatles are still very popular and probably will always be, an as a result, most will assume Beatles fan when they hear the name of your son, sorry. If that doesn’t bother you, then I would go for it.

Honestly, I think people are going to think Beatles without any help! It’s too of their most famous songs! If that bugs you, I wouldn’t do it. Also, [name]Rigby[/name] sounds like a dog’s name to me.

I wouldn’t do it. I’m not gonna lie, I get really irritated by Beatles themes in baby names. It just rubs me the wrong way, for some reason, so even if you aren’t going for Hey [name]Jude[/name] and [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Rigby[/name], it still comes across that way loud and clear. And yes, I think people would absolutely jumt to “You must be a HUGE fan of The Beatles!”, whether that was your intention or not.

I wouldn’t do it either. [name]Jude[/name] is a great name, and if you ever have another you can absolutely use [name]Rigby[/name] in the middle, but I would definitely not do [name]Jude[/name] [name]Rigby[/name]. It seems like it’s trying way too hard. You wouldn’t be picking the names because of the Beatles, but that’s what everyone would assume.

When I read the title of the post, my first thought was “No such thing!” I love [name]Jude[/name] [name]Rigby[/name]! [name]How[/name] handsome. Anyway, that’s my 2 cents, and good luck making the decision!

I agree! If you love the names individually and together, who cares if it sounds Beatles-heavy? They were a very influential band and one of my favorites. The majority of people won’t know his middle name, anyway.

I would jump right to the Beatles, personally. I like [name]Jude[/name] but like [name]Rigby[/name] less (I agree with [name]Ottilie[/name]). Also, the Beatles connection might not necessarily be bad…it is really up to you. If it’s fine with you, use it, but if you dislike it then I would use [name]Jude[/name] but find a different middle!

As a huge Beatles fan myself, I obviously thought of the Beatles. However, you say there are other connections to the names, and even if there wasnt, how often will [name]Rigby[/name] really be “out there” in public for people who might judge you as a Beatles fanatic? And if so, do you care enough not to use it? I mean, you arent naming a baby [name]Lennon[/name] McCartney (lastname) or something, kwim? I think its a great combo, congrats on your up and coming child.

I think if you love it you should go for it. You don’t use the middle name very often anyway so most people probably wouldn’t even know

Had you not said anything, I still would have made the connection. I wouldn’t be able to get past it, and probably wouldn’t use both. But I see your conundrum as they are both awesome names! Good luck!

If you introduced him as [name]Jude[/name] [name]Rigby[/name] they would get the connection. But just as [name]Jude[/name], it’s fine. I’m a huge Beatles fan, and I personally like [name]Lennon[/name] for a girl.

I love love love the name [name]Jude[/name]. I agree with others that [name]Rigby[/name] isn’t my favorite so if you are going to eliminate one then finding another middle should be a bit easier. (I also like the idea of saving [name]Rigby[/name] as a middle name for another child and that way the siblings would both also have their own connection to each other).

Yes, I do think that most people would immediately make the Beatles connection. That being said, I think the name [name]Jude[/name] by itself will also make people think of the Beatles 90% of the time, so if you both like [name]Rigby[/name] in the middle go for it. =]

I love love love the name [name]Jude[/name]. I agree with others that [name]Rigby[/name] isn’t my favorite so if you are going to eliminate one then finding another middle would be a bit easier in my opinion. (I also like the suggestion of saving [name]Rigby[/name] as a middle name for another child… and that way you ensure that the siblings would both have their own connection to each other’s names).

To answer your question: Yes, I do think that most people would immediately make the Beatles connection. That being said, I think the name [name]Jude[/name] by itself will also make people think of the Beatles 90% of the time, so if you both like [name]Rigby[/name] in the middle go for it. =]

I think [name]Jude[/name] [name]Rigby[/name] is fine! I’m seventeen though and I don’t really listen to that style of music, so maybe thats why I didn’t really make the connection! The first thing I thought of for [name]Rigby[/name] was The Regular Show! Lol.

My cousin and her husband are both HUGE Beatles fans, and they named all their kids intentionally after The Beatles! [name]Eleanor[/name], [name]Abbey[/name], and [name]Lennon[/name]! Most people didn’t even realize the connection until they had [name]Lennon[/name]!

I honestly don’t think its that noticable! I say if its what you love, go for it! x

I’m not really into the Beatles, so I had no idea that [name]Rigby[/name] had a connection. I did get the [name]Jude[/name] connection, but that’s not the first place my mind would go if I met a kid with that name. As others noted, most people won’t use his middle name anyway.

I didn’t immediately make the connection, but I seem like a minority here. And I am a Beatles fan…but not like a SUPER crazed fan. Not like the other people posting are or anything…just not the first thing I thought of.
