Our last name is a common nature name along the lines of Forest & Field.
Are names like Magnolia & Marigold too much? I love them a lot but I wouldn’t want it to be a burden. But I love the feeling of nature names, they give me such a warm fuzzy feeling.
Also, if you have any suggestions I’d love to hear them!
hm, that’s a tricky situation! i think it depends on the exact last name - magnolia field implies a field of magnolias, while magnolia forest doesn’t really imply anything, if that makes sense. so, would magnolia/marigold (surname) imply some sort of imagery? though, you could probably get away with it no matter what, since having two nature names isn’t that bad. it’s pretty cute, honestly. i wouldn’t do a nature first & middle name, but since it’s a surname i think that makes it better.
It depends on the exact name, if it’s something that would bring up a specific image like [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] [name_m]Field[/name_m] I’d say it’s kinda iffy, though there are other people that would be totally fine with it or even think it’s cool. As long as it’s clear that it’s the actual family name I think it’s fine, really the only thing I’d be concerned about is people unfairly assuming you were making it overly naturey on purpose or intending it as a “pun” name
i actually think it’s fine! out of all the word name combinations, a flower field is a very benign picture
and, for better or for worse, with them being longer names, she’d end up getting nicknamed more often than not, so that’s an alternate not overly naturey name to go by
[name_f]Maple[/name_f] - maple tree
[name_u]Hazel[/name_u] - hazelnut tree
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] - the flower
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] - the herb
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] - the flower
[name_u]Arthur[/name_u] - means bear
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f] - means olive tree
[name_u]Holly[/name_u] - holly tree
It’s definitely a common surname, so you saying that is really reassuring. I wouldn’t do something like [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_m]Bush[/name_m], [name_f]Strawberry[/name_f] [name_m]Field[/name_m] or [name_u]Holly[/name_u] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] though
Also a lot of those names are on my list so you’ve nailed my style
Hmmm for some strange reason I don’t think [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] [name_u]Forest[/name_u] or [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] [name_m]Field[/name_m] seems redundant or too much of the nature theme but I do see how [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_u]Forest[/name_u] and/or [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_m]Field[/name_m] would give off that impression. It’s on the tip of my tongue why but [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] doesn’t strike me as the epitome of a nature or floral name while [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] definitely does. I’d love to give suggestions of other names I have in mind and I hope some of them help make your naming process a little easier!
