Pregnant and due in [name]March[/name]. I’m trying to narrow down boys names. The problem is our last name is Rushton, and all my favorite boys names start with an “R”. I find it too “R” heavy when paired with our last name. IE:
[name]Rafferty[/name] (rafe) Rushton (for some reason I say this like scooby doo would)
[name]Ronan[/name] Rushton
[name]Ryland[/name] rushton
Am I over-thinking this, or do you see it too?
Other Maybe names are:
[name]Archer[/name]
[name]Everett[/name]
[name]Sloan[/name]
[name]Arlo[/name] (unsure about)
[name]Carter[/name] (dislike that it’s the same name as a highly popular children’s clothing line)
hayes
larkin (girly?)
[name]Arden[/name] (girly?)
[name]Merrick[/name] (dislike the nicknames)
I think [name]Rafferty[/name] Rushton sounds nice, the other two are clashing a bit. I also think [name]Everett[/name] is very nice with your last name.
I love [name]Rafferty[/name] and think [name]Rafferty[/name] Rushton sounds quite cool. [name]Everett[/name], [name]Archer[/name] and [name]Arlo[/name] from your list.
[name]Rafferty[/name] Rushton sounds super cool. The only other names from your list I really like are [name]Hayes[/name] and [name]Everett[/name]. I love [name]Sloan[/name] for a boy, but I think it’s gone to the girls.
I love the name [name]Archer[/name], but I think that one doesn’t sound as good with your last name as [name]Rafferty[/name] or [name]Ronan[/name] do. For me, even though they both begin with r’s they sound pretty good as full names. I [name]Love[/name] ‘R’ names as well though, so maybe my opinion is tainted by this
I think [name]Rhys[/name] Rushton sounds pretty good too, or [name]Reid[/name] or [name]Rowan[/name] (not sure if you are interested in those though. [name]Everett[/name] is not bad as well.
[name]Rafferty[/name] Rushton is actually really cool. I feel like the rhythm of [name]Rafferty[/name] breaks up the “R” in [name]Rafferty[/name] and the “R” in Rushton perfectly.
Multiple R’s in the first name might be too much with Rushton, but something softer like [name]Rhys[/name] or [name]Reeve[/name] could definitely work!
I dislike the idea of a 2-syllable name ending in N, because it gets too rhymey with Rushton. Names ending in R are also tricky. I REALLY like [name]Everett[/name] Rushton! I don’t think [name]Larkin[/name] sounds too girly, but it’s a bit rhymey - would you consider [name]Lark[/name]? [name]Hayes[/name] also works. My vote is definitely for [name]Everett[/name] - similar names would be [name]Elliot[/name], [name]Emmett[/name], and [name]Ellis[/name], of which [name]Elliot[/name] and [name]Everett[/name] are my faves.
I actually like [name]Rafferty[/name] Rushton. The other have similar sounding endings as well as beginning with R so I think they are a bit much but I love the name [name]Ryland[/name]!
I think Rushton is such a strong surname that to give a first name that also begins with a hard R would be too much. Especailly [name]Rafferty[/name], as striking as it is-- it has 2 Rs! Many children with language delay would have a great deal of difficulty with it (“waffehty wusston”).
An R in the middle of the name, even starting a second or third syllable, would be fine.
All of your suggestions are great-- but [name]Hayes[/name] Rushton is pretty hip.
[name]Rafferty[/name] Rushton! I love the alliteration here actually. Why can’t anyone have a quirky alliterated name anymore? It’s like how nobody has crooked teeth because everyone gets braces. Some people look better with crooked teeth, or before they get a nose job. [name]Rafferty[/name] Rushton is a wonderful, musical name, perfect for a funny scrappy little boy or a smart and soulful adult. R is one of the best letters there is.
