Too Much Twilight?

Do Jasper and Emmett as brothers automatically make you think of Twilight? I am not a Twilight fan, and had actually forgotten that Jasper and Emmett were Edward’s brother’s names, but was reminded a few days ago. Then I realized several of my favorite names were used in Twilight (Charles “Charlie”, Rosalie, Alice, Belle/Bella), but most would be middle names. This doesn’t make me not want to use the names, but I am wondering how often I’ll be asked whether I’m a fan or not. lol So, do you automatically think of Twilight when you hear Jasper and Emmett together?

I am not a “fan” either but unfortunately I do and most people from the [name_u]Twilight[/name_u] era probably would to be honest. Middles might be the safest bet.

I personally love [name_u]Carlisle[/name_u] (and did before the books) but don’t know that I’ll use it because of that association.

I’m in US and that’s just my take.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!

I think some people might see the reference but even though I’d seen the films without you mentioning twilgiht I’m not sure I would of make the twilight association. I think as long as you pick middle names that are no relation to any other twilght characters and your last name isn’t [name_m]Cullen[/name_m] or similar I think you won’t have to worry.

I had absolutely no idea [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] was in twilight!! I did know that [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] was though!

Yes, it does remind me of [name_u]Twilight[/name_u]. But I’m 26 and grew up with [name_u]Twilight[/name_u] (and I was a fan). Their peers growing up will likely not make the connection though.

Never seen an episode of [name_u]Twilight[/name_u]. I think [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] and [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] are bigger than a passing popular culture reference for some people, and have hundreds to thousands of years of history behind them. Good names.

Yes, they do, even though I’ve never read the books or watched the films. I would assume most people in my generation (I’m 19) would know about them through cultural osmosis.

I know vaguely they were both characters in [name_u]Twilight[/name_u], but I never watched beyond the first film//read the books, but if I met brothers [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] and [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] (+ your other kids) no, I wouldn’t assume it was for [name_u]Twilight[/name_u]

I think it’s fine, especially since you aren’t a big fan. Meh! :woman_shrugging:t2: I don’t think I’d immediately think of these guys anyway, and I have seen every movie lol!

I just watched the first movie at the time and didn’t find it any good so I had totally forgotten the names of any but the main 3 characters (because they still pop up as memes or whatever)

I think 10 years ago it may have been too much twilight , but I think the fan fare has settled !

Only because I just read it this year :joy: Theyre both popular enough at this point that I don’t think its a big deal. They work together stylistically.

They do immediately make me think of [name_u]Twilight[/name_u] but I’m 27 so right in that prime age range where it imprinted on my mind lol
