Too much?

Our daughter’s name is [name]Grace[/name]. Would it be too much to name a sister [name]Felicity[/name]? We’re not really keen on virtue names, but these really stood out to us. We know the names both have meanings, and we like them, but that’s not why we picked [name]Grace[/name], and certainly not why we are thinking about [name]Felicity[/name]. What do you think?
We also like
[name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Katherine[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name]
[name]Daphne[/name]
[name]Caroline[/name]
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Harper[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name]
[name]Bridget[/name]

I think it’s a bit matchy, like naming sisters [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Lily[/name]. But they are both beautiful names, so I can see why you like them!

I my opinion, both [name]Grace[/name] and Felcity sound like names first not virtues…if that makes sense. Now if you were going with [name]Hope[/name] and [name]Faith[/name], I would think the virtue first, then the name. So for me, it’s not too much.

No, definitely not! I think they sound great together, and I also like that they are both virtue names. But if you would have another child later, you wouldn’t have to pick another virtue name, they are not that matchy. Best of luck!

No, it’s not too much, the name [name]Felicity[/name] is very pretty, I personally wouldn’t use it, but I have no problem with it. I love the names [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Scarlett[/name], they’re actually two of my favourite names.

I don’t really see [name]Felicity[/name] as a virtue name and I think it is absolutely beautiful so go for it.

[name]Grace[/name] and [name]Felicity[/name] are lovely together. They complement each other and yet have their own unique sound and look. I wouldn’t worry too much about the names being viewed as “virtue”. You’ll find that most people think of them as “names” first instead of a “theme”. I would not hesitate to choose [name]Felicity[/name] for your second daughter. Good luck!

Felicityand [name]Grace[/name] are wonderful! The only thing to mention is that you might have to go with another virtue name later on, if you haad another child. Then that might be too “matchy-matchy.”
I also really like [name]Grace[/name] and [name]Alice[/name]! both are sweet, but without being over the top. The only thing is they have the same ending.
Best of luck!

I know how you feel, our eldest is named [name]Reuben[/name], its a very meaningful family name and also we did love it but our favorite name with our second was [name]Micah[/name] and we did not want a biblical theme. We ended up going with it anyway and decided to ignore the biblical references and hope others would do the same.
Having said that I agree with the other posters who have said they don’t see [name]Grace[/name] and [name]Felicity[/name] as virtue names so much as just names. I think of [name]Grace[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] when I hear [name]Grace[/name] and would only see it as a virtue name first when paired with something obvious like [name]Hope[/name] or [name]Faith[/name]. [name]Felicity[/name] has transcended the original meaning to become more of a name than a virtue at all, to me at least.
I hope that helps with your decision making.

Ps, if you have a third like we are it gives you even more of a chance to put the spin you want on your name choices by accenting the style you see in the names you have chosen and minimizing the other connections with your third choice, I hope that makes sense lol

Not at all! I think it’s a subtle connection between your daughters, which is great. I agree with pp who said that [name]Grace[/name] and [name]Felicity[/name] are so integrated that they are names before virtures- for a moment, I thought “[name]Grace[/name] and [name]Felicity[/name]? [name]How[/name] are they matchy?” So I think it’s fine. I love the name [name]Felicity[/name].
