Too much?

[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I have decided on [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] for a boy name. I really, really love [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] as a middle name. But is [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] too much for a name?

Our other middle name choice is [name_u]James[/name_u], which is a family name like all my other kids have.

I actually really like [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]!! It feels so magical and fiery! I usually don’t care for double meanings or double associations with firsts and middles but… Idk, there’s something about this name that I really love

I’m the type to fall in love with strange and magical names like [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u], however I do see how that can be a problem for some parents who aren’t into the same name taste or might not be as bold!

if your having concerns or don’t want the matching connotations, [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] (another magical creature name but has a similar energy to [name_u]James[/name_u]) is my suggestion!

Blaise [name_u]James[/name_u] doesn’t do it for me unfortunately, and I think it’s in the names not meshing with the double S that makes it sound awkward! Overall, hands down [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u], for me there can never be enough of cool sounding names :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Blaise [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] is epic! [name_f]Do[/name_f] it!

Blaise [name_u]James[/name_u] feels clunky to me, and I’d steer clear of BJ as initials.

Blaise [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] sounds stately though, if you wanted to use both options.

It’s too much. [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] is not a name I’m fond of and it seems so harsh, I just can’t abide. A blaze of fire is something I associate with danger, not a dashing, handsome boy. However, I do love [name_u]James[/name_u] and [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]. [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] would by favorite combination!

I love [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] and I love [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u], but I do see your concerns with having them both together. What if [name_u]James[/name_u] broke them up in the middle - [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]? [name_u]James[/name_u] softens the whole and adds a bit of tradition in the middle. [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] [name_m]Felix[/name_m] has some of the same sounds whilst being a totally different category of name. ([name_u]Blaise[/name_u] [name_m]Phinneas[/name_m]?)

I grew up in [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]. The logo for the city is a [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] (bird). The city itself is known to have some blazing hot temperatures, with this year sitting at 144 days (out of 288) over 100F, of which 53 were above 110F and 14 were above 115F. Also, [name_f]Arizona[/name_f] is in the mist of fire season (even in the area surrounding [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]). The name, despite the spelling change for [name_u]Blaise[/name_u], is descriptive enough to evoke images of this for me.

I’d go with [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] personally.

I actually think [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] is really nice! However, [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] (or even [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]) is nice as well.

I think [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] is perhaps too much. I like the suggestion of [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]! That’s very cute.

I don’t think it’s too much. First and second names or seldom said together in everyday life.
You love [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] so use it!

I. can. not. stop. seeing. Blasé! It is a cool name…I think I like it better spelled [name_u]Blaze[/name_u].

Blaise [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] sounds like a super hero. I have to agree that [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] doesn’t sound great together.

I see this in the future: “Where in the blazes is [name_u]Blaise[/name_u]’s book bag?”

Hi there.

Blaise [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] is super cool! Sure, it’s a little intense w/imagery, but it’s very badas* mystical feeling imagery. I like it a lot. [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] is handsome & old fashioned, but feels fresh & spunky too. [name_u]James[/name_u] is a great name, & it’s nice to use family names. But [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] kind of rhymes. Maybe [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] or [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] [name_u]Jameson[/name_u]?

Hope this helps.

I think it is a little much, seeing as both names give me intense fire imagery. [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] is also not great imo. I like the suggestion of [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] [name_u]Jameson[/name_u]!

Blaise [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] is bold but cool

It’s quite intense yes. I prefer phoenix.

I think that’s just up to you! It is a very obviously fiery name, but there are no rules against that! I personally wouldn’t use it, but I would be very impressed by anyone who did use it. It’s all a matter of personal taste I think. Side note, can you imagine how cool that little boy would think he was when he learned what his name meant? His friends would be really jealous with their “boring” names haha

I like [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] better, [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] is a bit over the top

I would caution using [name_u]James[/name_u] as it would give you the initials BJ :weary:

Blaise [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] is quite out there but perfectly useable and I really liked the suggestionS of [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] and [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] [name_m]Felix[/name_m].

I really like [name_u]Blaise[/name_u], but I think a bit much with [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] (rising from the ashes), sorry. Have you got any other multiple syllable family names?
