I feel like I’m getting close to having another girl name that I love as much as [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]…and it’s [name_f]Florence[/name_f].
[name_f]Florence[/name_f] was my great-grandmother’s name, and I love its nod to [name_f]Italy[/name_f] (my husband is Italian). Plus, I dig the vintage vibe and think [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] & [name_f]Florence[/name_f] could be an adorable set of sisters.
Here’s the dilemma: our last name is a place name, too. I’m worried that [name_f]Florence[/name_f] 0rl@nd0 might be too place-y…this is the exact reason why my long-time love [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] has slipped off of my list.
What do you think? Is [name_f]Florence[/name_f] usable with our last name? I do like [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Florence[/name_f] as a combo, but I’m trying to find a second girl’s first name that I love.
I like [name_f]Florence[/name_f] much more than [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]. I say go for it even with your last name. There’s also [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_u]Florian[/name_u], [name_u]Flannery[/name_u], [name_f]Frances[/name_f] etc!
I think [name_f]Florence[/name_f] can still work with your surname! It’s established enough as a name that people don’t necessarily think of the geographic place straight off. I say go for it!
I think it absolutely works with your last name! Frankly, I’ll bet very few people will make the connection that both names are place names. [name_f]Florence[/name_f] is one of my favorite names, and I love its ties with your family.
I think the name [name_f]Florence[/name_f] is beautiful and is absolutely fine with your last name. And you’re right, [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] and [name_f]Florence[/name_f] would be very sweet for sisters.
I don’t often think of [name_f]Florence[/name_f] as the Italian city. I always think of it as Firenza. [name_f]Florence[/name_f], to me, is an old-fashioned name so I think it works with your last name.
