Too popular? Or just right?

Hello everyone! I’m new here, but I’ve been watching the boards for awhile, and I love that everyone gives such great advice. I’m hoping you all can help me out!
I have a few names I love for our daughter due in 10 weeks, but I’m just wondering what you all think… Are they too popular, or should I not care. I’m not around a lot of babies now, so the popular babyname lists mean nothing to me. Is [name]Sophia[/name] and [name]Emilie[/name] or even [name]Olivia[/name] going to be everywhere when my daughter starts school?
Here they are, thanks!

[name]Sophia[/name]
[name]Emilie[/name] (I much prefer this spelling)
[name]Maia[/name]
[name]Isobel[/name]
[name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name]
[name]Leonora[/name] (I love [name]Nora[/name] as a NM, so if you have any other “nora” names I’d love to hear them!)
[name]Olivia[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name]

If you absolutely love those names, then don’t let the popularity issue bother you. All those other thousands of parents chose [name]Sophie[/name]/[name]Emily[/name]/[name]Olivia[/name] because they thought they were perfect!
Personally, I stay out of the top 10…I can say [name]Maia[/name], [name]Scarlett[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] are my favourites from your list!
I love [name]Nora[/name] as a stand alone name or as a nickname for [name]Eleanor[/name]!
However, any name from your list would be perfect for your future daughter

[name]Hi[/name] and welcome to NB! [name]Sophia[/name], [name]Emily[/name] and [name]Olivia[/name] are very popular, but if you love the name, don’t let popularity stop you! Personally, I love [name]Isobel[/name] from your list, it’s very classy! [name]Leonora[/name], [name]Evangeline[/name] and [name]Maia[/name] are very pretty too. Good luck!

They are quite popular, however I absolutely [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Isobel[/name], and also really like [name]Maia[/name] and [name]Evangeline[/name]. If you love the names then use them regardless of their popularity x

sophia, emily and olivia are popular but like others said, i wouldn’t let that hold you back. you will definitely hear them on the playground but not nearly as much as jennifer 30/40 years ago bc the top names aren’t used as much today as they were back then

Some ‘[name]Nora[/name]’ names:
[name]Eleonora[/name],
[name]Annora[/name],
[name]Honora[/name],
[name]Gwenora[/name],
[name]Onora[/name]

I like [name]Emilie[/name], [name]Evangeline[/name], [name]Olivia[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name].

I don’t let popularity deter me from a name, [name]Emma[/name]'s high on my list, and so is [name]Olivia[/name].

[name]Leonora[/name] is such a pretty name. I consider it less popular than the others as well, which is a good thing.

I agree, if you really love the names, I would use them anyway. I think it’s actually a blessing not to be around too many babies so as to not really understand what popularity means–it doesn’t really keep you from the names you actually love! Honestly, when you do the math, it averages out that even children with the most popular names out there ([name]Sophia[/name] and [name]Jacob[/name], last year), it’s likely that there will only be one in each classroom, at the most. When I did the math the last time, if my memory serves me correctly, there averaged to be one [name]Isabella[/name], [name]Sophia[/name], [name]Jacob[/name], etc. in each GRADE, not each classroom (which can be significantly different in some schools, depending on the area and all), per school district. None of them are too popular for me if I truly loved it ([name]Isabelle[/name] and [name]Olivia[/name] are on my own top three, and [name]Olivia[/name]'s in the top 5 of the nation, and [name]Isabelle[/name]'s close variant, [name]Isabella[/name], is number 2), and some of your choices ([name]Leonora[/name] and [name]Evangeline[/name] especially) are rather uncommon.

[name]Even[/name] if you take the most used spelling of [name]Isobel[/name], which is [name]Isabelle[/name] (I only say this because they sound alike, and [name]Isobel[/name] isn’t listed, to my knowledge), it was used only 2,643 times in the US. If you divide that by 50 (the number of states in the country), you get 52 point something or other, and then most states have around 67 counties, so that’s not even one [name]Isabelle[/name] in each state. There were nearly as many Isabels as Isabelles born last year (about a 500-person difference), so that averages about 100 Isabels/Isabelles born in each state last year, which averages between 1 and 2 [name]Isabel/names born in each county in the last year. When you divide that between 20 or so public school districts (not to mention Catholic schools, [name]Christian[/name]-but-not-Catholic schools, private-but-not-[name]Christian[/name] schools, home schools, charter schools, etc.), it’s really not that bad.

Good luck!

[name]Welcome[/name]!! I agree – if you love it, use it anyway. You never know who your daughter will meet and you don’t want to regret not using a name you loved that felt perfect just because it was popular. Personally, I only know 2 [name]Emily[/name]/[name]Emilie[/name] (I prefer this spelling as well – it helps that it’s a family name for me), 1 [name]Scarlett[/name], 1 [name]Lucy[/name], and 2 Olivias.

Of your names, my favorites are [name]Sophia[/name] (I know this is supposedly popular, but I don’t know any), [name]Maia[/name], and [name]Leonora[/name], but they’re all great names! Incidentally, I know an [name]Emilie[/name] and [name]Nora[/name] (that’s her full name) sibset and they are so cute together!! Also, I know [name]Nora[/name] is a common nickname for the name [name]Eleanor[/name].

[name]Do[/name] you have favorites? [name]Do[/name] you have a middle name picked out?
