I probably wont have kids for a least 5 years. And I’m pretty confident that my favourite girl’s name, [name]Antonia[/name], won’t become too popular for me to use. I do worry about my favourite boy’s name though, which is (and has been for years and years) [name]Theodore[/name]. I am very adamant about my children having unpopular names, or at least names that aren’t in the top 50. [name]Do[/name] you think [name]Theodore[/name] will increase to that level by 2020ish?
I’m a little concerned also about my 2nd and 3rd favourite girl’s names, which are both coming back into style, [name]Beatrix[/name] and [name]Vivian[/name]. What do you think the popularity of these names will be in 2020?
My backup boy’s name is [name]Caspian[/name], which I don’t love half as much as [name]Theodore[/name], but has been my second favourite forever. I don’t think I need to worry about that one, or my 3rd place boy’s name, [name]Jericho[/name].
What do you think?
I honestly don’t think [name]Theodore[/name] will reach the top 50 by 2020, although these things are virtually impossible to tell. Boys names tend to move slower than the girls ([name]Jacob[/name] was #1 in 2000, where is it in 2010? #1!!! whereas [name]Isabella[/name] was #45 in 2000 and #1 in 2010) In 1990 [name]Jacob[/name] was at #20, while [name]Isabella[/name] was at #896! See? crazy stuff  [name]Theodore[/name] has moved 49 spots in 10 years (#312 to #263) so if it follows that pattern it will be #214 in 2020 (well out of the top 50). Girls names can be sneakier, [name]Vivian[/name] is rising fast (it has moved 114 spots in ten years), and could reach to top 50 by 2020 (another 114 spots move would put it at #44).
Name fashions can change quickly though, causing some names to skyrocket while others stall in their climb. I do think your safe with [name]Antonia[/name], [name]Theodore[/name], [name]Beatrix[/name], [name]Caspian[/name], and [name]Jericho[/name], but I would keep my eye on [name]Vivian[/name]
