I need opinions on two boys names:
I love [name_u]August[/name_u] nn [name_m]Augie[/name_m] and [name_u]Owen[/name_u]. I am concerned about the popularity of both but I love them.
Which do you prefer?

I prefer [name_u]Owen[/name_u]. [name_u]August[/name_u] is really not my cup of tea.
[name_u]Owen[/name_u] is by far the more popular name in the USA, but both names reside below 0.5% of total births having that name. 1/200 doesn’t seem like bad odds, plus you’d have to look at local births too, if it’s a popularity issue. You could pick [name_u]August[/name_u], only to find you’re surrounded by similarly minded people who have little [name_u]August[/name_u]'s too.
Either way. 0.5% doesn’t seem too popular to me.
I have an [name_u]Owen[/name_u], but actually I like both equally. [name_u]August[/name_u] nn [name_m]Augie[/name_m] is adorable. [name_u]August[/name_u] is, and I’d bet will continue to be, less popular than [name_u]Owen[/name_u]. But I have a feeling the recent [name_u]Owen[/name_u] craze might be dying down a bit. And it’s not like it took it into the top 10 or anything.
Of course, this ‘feeling’ is based on absolutely nothing and could well be the opposite of the truth! Either way, I don’t think popularity should deter you from using a name you love, unless you know and encounter multiple children of that name on a regular basis. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t let the national #'s scare you.
I love [name_u]August[/name_u]. I like [name_u]Owen[/name_u] too, but strongly prefer [name_u]August[/name_u]. It just feels a little more unique to me.
I love them both. As arielladreams said, [name_u]Owen[/name_u] is more popular so based on that fact, if I was forced to choose, I would probably go with [name_u]August[/name_u].
But both are great names! And you could always save the one you don’t use for a future sibling! I think [name_u]Owen[/name_u] & [name_u]August[/name_u] would make for adorable brothers.
[name_u]August[/name_u] would be the less-popular choice. I love both but would go with [name_u]August[/name_u] if you’re concerned about popularity.
I prefer [name_u]Owen[/name_u].
[name_u]August[/name_u] feels feminine to me (along with the other month names)
Like kala_way I also prefer [name_u]Owen[/name_u].
For me [name_u]August[/name_u] would be a total no-go but I guess that’s only because in [name_f]Austria[/name_f] it is considered an old man’s name
I prefer [name_u]Owen[/name_u]. If you love the names, you shouldn’t let popularity bother you.
I like both, but if you live in the Midwest, I’d opt for [name_u]Owen[/name_u]. Otherwise, [name_u]August[/name_u] nn [name_m]Augie[/name_m] offers much more flexibility, and I’d vote for that!
