Hey berries !
This is kind of a silly question, but i’ve fallen in love with the baby name rye. I think that it would be lovely on a little girl. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think that this name would work on it’s own?
Hey berries !

I just think of rye bread, sorry!
It has a nice sound but I also agree; it just reminds me of rye bread.
What about [name_u]Rae[/name_u], [name_f]Kyra[/name_f] (pronounced like kai-ra) or [name_f]Raya[/name_f] [name_u]Riley[/name_u]? They all sound similar to [name_m]Rye[/name_m].
I don’t think the length is an issue at all, but I agree with above about the rye bread connection
Yes I think the bread association esp with that spelling is going to make it a bit burdensome. [name_u]Riley[/name_u] or another [name_m]Ry[/name_m]/Ri name nn [name_m]Ry[/name_m] would work?
It would be great for a boy.
Might you like [name_u]Rue[/name_u]? The meaning isn’t great but I have always thought it is a pretty, elegant name.
I think if [name_u]Rae[/name_u]/[name_u]Rey[/name_u]/[name_u]Ray[/name_u] works, why not [name_m]Rye[/name_m]?
Obviously I see the bread connection but I guess I’m curious as to what the actual problem is. No one will mistake your child for bread. And I wouldn’t just assume “Oh the parents must really like rye bread!” (though I might wonder if it’s short for something.) As with any word name, we only think of the word as a word until we hear it as a name–then we think of it as possibly both. I’m not a word name fan, and I think you will likely get mixed reactions, but once people know your daughter, [name_m]Rye[/name_m] will just be [name_m]Rye[/name_m].
And her classmates Kynnydy and Otter [name_u]Storm[/name_u] probably won’t bat an eye…
Same here! Maybe [name_u]Riley[/name_u]/[name_f]Ryleigh[/name_f] nn [name_m]Rye[/name_m]?
I think Rhye is lovely, and looks more complete. It is the name of a band though, if you don’t mind the association.
