Too similar for brothers?

[name]Beckett[/name] & [name]Emmett[/name] - way too similar? We already have [name]Beckett[/name] at home and baby boy #2 is on the way. The only boy name that we both really like is [name]Emmett[/name] but is everyone’s first thought going to be how similar they are? Also, we are only planning on two so there won’t be any more names added to this sibset in the future.

I don’t know if you can make an objective judgement on whether the names are too similar, but no, I wouldn’t do it. The -ett endings plus the short e being the only other vowel sounds would force me to look farther afield.

I’ll throw out some suggestions, just because that’s the fun of these boards.

Yes, they’re too similar for siblings. Here are some suggestions.

I think if you’re only have two then it works. The problem for me would be if I brought another child in and then there is a [name]Beckett[/name], [name]Emmett[/name], and something like [name]Sawyer[/name]. Then it’s bad. However, two kids with similar names is kind of cute. I like it.
