Too-Similar Sister Names?

Would you consider the names [name_f]Sally[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] to be too similar-sounding for sisters?

Why or why not?

Thanks!

I wouldn’t say so. I think they’d make a nice set so long as [name_f]Alice[/name_f] isn’t nicknamed “[name_f]Ally[/name_f]”, in which case I’d advise against it. Anyway, having too-similar names doesn’t really make a difference in the grand scheme of things - their names are only really said together as children, after all.

I’d agree with books_and_tea, unless you intend to call [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Ally[/name_f], the names aren’t too similar. Personally I prefer [name_f]Alice[/name_f] to [name_f]Ally[/name_f] anyway. They both have the same [name_m]Al[/name_m] sound, but the location within the names is different. If anything it just tells me you like that pronounced A sound. Not too similar

I don’t think they’re too similar at all.

They might sound very similar shouted across the house (the [name_m]AL[/name_m] sound being so prominent), which would make it potentially impractical, but I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. Stylistically, I like them together. [name_f]Sally[/name_f] is one of my favorite girl names!

They are not too similar at all.
