[name_f]My[/name_f] husband’s ex girlfriend’s name is [name_u]Holly[/name_u] and I am in love with the name [name_f]Molly[/name_f]. Would it be too weird for us to use it? Should we avoid using such a similar name?
I think it would only be weird if your husband thought it was weird. If he’s fine with it, I think it’s totally fine!
I think that’s a decision you will have to make. When you say [name_f]Molly[/name_f], do you automatically think of the name [name_u]Holly[/name_u]? [name_m]Can[/name_m] you separate the two names? How long was he with her and how well did his family know her? If you can’t look at the name [name_f]Molly[/name_f] and not think about his ex-girlfriend, then don’t use the name. Otherwise, I wouldn’t pass by a name without real cause.
[name_m]Even[/name_m] though there’s only one letter difference, [name_u]Holly[/name_u] and [name_f]Molly[/name_f] have completely different vibes to me. [name_u]Holly[/name_u] is more modern and nature name. [name_f]Molly[/name_f] is sweet and classic/vintage. I don’t think they’re too similar but ultimately it’s up to you.
If your husband thinks it’s fine, it’s fine. Did he have a long term, serious relationship with [name_u]Holly[/name_u] or a short one?
I feel like they are different and distinctive enough to be defined from one another.
Definitely use it- two different names and vibes!
Only if your husband finds it weird. They’re two separate names
[name_f]Molly[/name_f] needs a long form for that to work.
No I think it’s fine. Imo they give off totally different vibes and they are different enough that it wouldn’t be weird
I think that’s fine! Molly is a popular name (so is Holly, really), so they rhyme but they’re not very similar to me.
Its not weird. Sure they sound similar, but they aren’t the same name.
It would be different if you wanted to name the baby [name_u]Holland[/name_u] or [name_f]Holliday[/name_f] nn [name_u]Holly[/name_u] and the ex girlfriend was named Holly… but even then they’re very different.
If you’re over thinking it, and concerned than I’d have to say [name_f]Molly[/name_f] is not the name for you.
What about:
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] nn [name_u]Ollie[/name_u], [name_f]Livvy[/name_f]
[name_f]Pollyanna[/name_f] nn [name_f]Polly[/name_f]
[name_f]Roxanne[/name_f] nn [name_f]Roxie[/name_f]
[name_f]Mona[/name_f]
[name_f]Melody[/name_f]
[name_f]Melanie[/name_f]
[name_u]Mallory[/name_u]
