Too similar to pet’s name?

First of all… thank you to everyone who gave advice on our name choices.

We’re pretty set on [name_f]Willa[/name_f].

But… my daughters have a dog [name_u]Willow[/name_u] at their Dad’s house. Is it too similar? Would you still use [name_f]Willa[/name_f] for their sibling?

[name_u]Will[/name_u] [name_f]Willa[/name_f] ever be at your other daughters Dad’s house? If so, it’s a little too similar for me. If not, it’s probably safe to use but it may some cause confusion.

No probably not. Maybe only when dropping them off at their dad’s I guess… as everything is amicable.

[name_f]My[/name_f] daughters are 11 and 14 so it won’t be confusing for them… but I kind of just clicked recently when they were telling a story about [name_u]Willow[/name_u] how similar it is.

I think it’s a little close for now, but fine in the long run. It’s a different name, and [name_u]Willow[/name_u] the dog sadly won’t be around forever. It seems a shame not to use your favourite name for your child, which you’ll be saying for a lifetime, because of someone else’s dog.

[name_f]Do[/name_f] your daughters know the name(s) you’re considering? What do they think?

Since [name_f]Willa[/name_f] won’t be around [name_u]Willow[/name_u], I don’t think it would be an issue, your older daughters can get used to it. They won’t mention those two together anyway.

I think it’s fine

I’d still use it. [name_f]Willa[/name_f] is a lovely name!

I haven’t told my daughters the name… mostly because they wouldn’t be able to keep it a secret! :joy:

Thanks everyone for the advice. It’s so hard as we can’t ask people we know as we want there to be some surprise when she’s born. So I appreciate all the responses.
