I have always LOVED the name Luca but since my name is Lucy I think that it might be too similar or make me sound self centered like I would be naming my child after myself. I am not planning on having a baby anytime soon but I was wondering your opinions on this. Thanks!
I don’t think it’s an issue really. When you pronounce them they sound quite different [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is more like (‘Lusie’) while [name_u]Luca[/name_u] would be pronounced like (’[name_m]Luka[/name_m]’). Plus it’s not like they’re going to be calling both of you at the same time: [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_u]Luca[/name_u] come here! haha
I think [name_u]Luca[/name_u] is a pretty name:)
I don’t find [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_u]Luca[/name_u] too close for a mother and son, the second syllable of each is different enough. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_u]Luca[/name_u] could even be siblings without an issue.
Seems fine to me
Okay thanks! I just keep thinking how [name_m]Will[/name_m] and [name_f]Jada[/name_f] [name_m]Smith[/name_m] named both of their children after them and I don’t want to sound like that! Haha
I think it’s fine. After all, men name their children after themselves all the time and no-one accuses them of being self-centered.
If you want to get technical, [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_u]Luca[/name_u] aren’t even the same name (like [name_m]Charles[/name_m]/[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_m]John[/name_m]/[name_f]Jane[/name_f]) —*[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] comes from Latin (“light”) and [name_u]Luca[/name_u] comes from Greek.
