Too similar?

We are not finding out the gender of this little bundle…but I am trying to settle on a name before hand!

I have a daughter, Lynley, and a son, [name_u]Everett[/name_u]. If this baby is a girl I like the name [name_u]Sydney[/name_u]. Is it too similar to Lynley?

We also like [name_u]Josie[/name_u] and [name_f]Callie[/name_f].

What are your thoughts? Thanks for helping!!

Yeah unfortunately I think it might be… I tried saying it aloud and it was quite difficult to say Lynley and [name_u]Sydney[/name_u]. You could still use it if you wanted, but I love both [name_u]Josie[/name_u] and [name_f]Callie[/name_f] and think both would be a really great addition to the sibset!

Lynley and [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] feel very similar because it’s as though they follow the same recipe: two-syllables, end with -ey, have a prominent, identical -y sound in the first syllable. I highly suggest you look for another name! I think [name_u]Josie[/name_u] and [name_f]Callie[/name_f] are great and go well with Lynley and [name_u]Everett[/name_u], [name_u]Josie[/name_u] maybe a little more so.

Suggestions:
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_f]Millie[/name_f]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] (maybe?)
[name_u]Emory[/name_u]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Hattie[/name_f]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_u]June[/name_u] or [name_f]Juno[/name_f] nn [name_f]Junie[/name_f]

[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] would be the perfect choice for you, I think. It’s similar enough to [name_u]Sydney[/name_u], it’s its own name and it is also very much in the same style as [name_f]Callie[/name_f] and [name_u]Josie[/name_u].

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the post above. Lynley and [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] are very similar in pronunciation. If you plan on always calling [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] “[name_u]Syd[/name_u]”, you might be okay, since Lynley and [name_u]Syd[/name_u] aren’t too similar. I might still avoid the name [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] just to be safe. [name_u]Josie[/name_u] and [name_f]Callie[/name_f] both work, since they only share the same ending sound as Lynley.

I think Lynley, [name_u]Everett[/name_u], and [name_f]Callie[/name_f] is an adorable sibset! Lynley, [name_u]Everett[/name_u], and [name_u]Josie[/name_u] is great too! I hope this helps!

[name_u]Sydney[/name_u] is too similar to Lynley.

I agree with the posters above that Lynley and [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] are too similar. I love both [name_u]Josie[/name_u] and [name_f]Callie[/name_f]! I like [name_f]Callie[/name_f] a bit better with your sibset. Lynley, [name_u]Everett[/name_u] & [name_f]Callie[/name_f] are great together!

[name_u]Sydney[/name_u] and Lynley is way too matchy matchy for my tastes

I feel that often there is an over reaction when it comes to names people find too close. In this case, with Lynley and [name_u]Sydney[/name_u], I find it a bit too close.

I agree about [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] and Lynley being way too similar to use together. I’ve never heard Lynley before, it’s interesting.

I also think [name_u]Josie[/name_u] and [name_f]Callie[/name_f] are great choices. I prefer [name_f]Callie[/name_f] =]

Oh, love [name_u]Everett[/name_u] by the way. It’s such a cute name.
