We could possibly be looking at girl/girl twins and I was wanting some opinions… are [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] (“Ee-fa”) and [name_f]Fiadh[/name_f] (“Fee-ah”) too similar sounding?
I’m not changing [name_f]Aoife[/name_f], but looking for input on other [name_m]Irish[/name_m] girl names to go with it… any help would be appreciated Berries!!
I appreciate your input! I thought so, my wife says she thinks it’s okay but I think they’re too similar sounding. My middle name is Roisin so I’m partial to that as maybe a middle name… I love Orla so much but it sounds so different in an American accent
(I’m Irish, my wife is American and we’re - for the time being - living in the states)
I think they’re too similar. They’re almost palindromic and that’s too intense for twins (who will already share a lovely but intense relationship and be compared etc).
How about Aoife &
Niamh
Bridie
Saoirse (but apparently some added implications of using this name if you’re not Irish?*)
Oona / Oonagh
Sloane
Orla
Tierney
Keeley
Bridget
Darcy/Darcie
Bellamy
Mairead
Clodagh
Rowan
Maeve
If happy to cast wider net into Brit/Celtic names:
I adore [name_f]Isla[/name_f] but it’s so popular it’s crazy!! I have a niece named [name_f]Erin[/name_f] so the welsh name [name_f]Eira[/name_f] is too similar which sucks because I think it’s beautiful.
I love [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f]. Our last name is Morgan… do you think [name_f]Mollie[/name_f] [name_m]Morgan[/name_m] sounds too weird?
They are a bit too close for me I’m afraid - and while I don’t think they’re unusable, the fact they’re sort of the same sounds flipped around is a bit matchy for my tastes.
Seconding the suggestions of:
[name_f]Oona[/name_f] / [name_f]Oonagh[/name_f]
Órla / Órlaith
[name_f]Mairéad[/name_f]
[name_f]Clodagh[/name_f]
[name_f]Nuala[/name_f]
[name_f]Niamh[/name_f] (I knew sibs called [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] and Niamh!)
[name_f]Darcy[/name_f]
[name_f]Keeley[/name_f]
I think it works - I know quite a few people with alliterative names!
I think [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] and [name_f]Fiadh[/name_f] are lovely together!
But if you want other suggestions I also like
[name_f]Aoife[/name_f] and [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f]
[name_f]Aoife[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
