Too small of a name?

[name]Lee[/name]. As a FN for a boy. Is it too short? Too nothing? [name]Just[/name] a sound? I love it and it has such meaning for me (honouring my dad and my brother, both of whom I am very close to), and it is one of the only sure names on my list. Would it need longer MNs to fill it out or would that off balance it?
What do you think?

I [name]LOVE[/name] IT!!!

I think it is simple, classic, distinct & lovely.

For me the best boy names are strong & simple. Not at all over-the-top or childish or overly macho or ornate. This leaves me with a lot of super common choices like [name]John[/name], [name]Tom[/name], ect which are nice enough but not as special feeling. For me [name]Lee[/name] has that special factor.

[name]Louis[/name] is another

I know a [name]Lee[/name]. Never really cared for his name honestly. It just doesn’t have enough substance to it… I always call him some longer name just to make it flow off my tongue better.

[name]One[/name] name I call him quite often, which I dont think is too terrible is [name]Leopold[/name]. Quite hipster/old man sounding, but the right kid could pull it off.

[name]Leo[/name] is trending in a big way in my area…I’m sure quite a few of them are [name]Leopold[/name]. [name]Leo[/name] is nice, but it feels more hipstery to me, therefore feels like it’s trying harder. [name]Lee[/name] is so much nicer imo. It also feels Southern to me, which is always extra points. To me, [name]Lee[/name] is so pared down & spare that it feels modern & masculine. It’s so untrendy but it puts me in mind of something like [name]Reed[/name].

I like [name]Lee[/name]. I think some of the simplest names can say so much. While I prefer something with the nn [name]Lee[/name] ([name]Leo[/name]/[name]Leopold[/name], [name]Levi[/name], [name]Liam[/name], etc.), just [name]Lee[/name] is nice, too. It sounds like a rugged cowboy to me, haha. The only [name]Lee[/name] I know is the principal of the elementary school I used to attend (he wasn’t my principal, but he was for my siblings). He’s a little… quirky, haha, but still a nice guy and really cares about kids. I think it’d be quite refreshing to meet a little [name]Lee[/name]!

There’s a [name]Lee[/name] in my dad’s band! He’s the drummer and he’s awesome so I like the name cause I have a positive association with it. I think it would be really cute on a little boy and I know that it ages well too  And, if you love it for the family associations then I would totally say go for it. I think any name is usable really if it has a really strong meaning/association to you, especially if it’s from family.

I like [name]Lee[/name]. It’s a very overlooked name, and I would love to see it used. Like [name]Ashley[/name] mentioned, [name]Lee[/name] has a rugged cowboy image that gives it an extra boost of strength. Look for something at least two syllables for the middle name, but preferably longer.

I think [name]Lee[/name] is a good, strong boy’s name. For the middle name, you would want more than one syllable!

For example:
[name]Lee[/name] [name]Michael[/name]
[name]Lee[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name]
[name]Lee[/name] [name]Everett[/name]
[name]Lee[/name] [name]Edward[/name]

It’s okay. A little boring for my taste, but usable. For me, being in [name]China[/name], it seems strongly like a Chinese surname (I know hundreds of people with the family name ‘[name]Lee[/name]’). Also, my grandma, great grandma and two aunts all have the middle name [name]Lea[/name] (pronounced [name]Lee[/name]), think that used to be one of the most common female ‘filler’ middle names of a generation or two ago.
What about [name]Leland[/name] or [name]Leander[/name] or one of the [name]Leo[/name]/[name]Leon[/name] names or [name]Stanley[/name], with the NN [name]Lee[/name].

I like [name]Lee[/name] a lot. Refreshing, and so… free!

I must advise against [name]Love[/name] for a girl, at least in the first name spot. I have a friend whose ex-girlfriend is named [name]Love[/name], and at one point there was a lot of “[name]Love[/name] stinks, [name]Love[/name] hurts, [name]Love[/name] stole my favorite teeshirt and left me brokenhearted…”

I like it! Anyone remember [name]Lee[/name] [name]Pace[/name]?
Anyway I would use a long middle name just for the heck of it. [name]Lee[/name] [name]Evander[/name]? [name]Lee[/name] Maxilimilan? [name]Lee[/name] [name]Bartholomew[/name]?
I think it works just fine on it’s own.
My favorite longer name would be [name]Leander[/name].

I like [name]Lee[/name]! My husband is pushing it for this baby! I am still trying to come up with some alternatives that are longer and am thinking of [name]Hartley[/name], [name]Ripley[/name], [name]Riley[/name], [name]Wiley[/name], [name]Kingsley[/name], [name]Berkeley[/name], and [name]Leander[/name]. I like [name]Lee[/name] on its own though!

I’ve always been a fan of [name]Lee[/name]; however, I feel like I’m always in the minority there. If [name]James[/name], [name]John[/name], [name]Luke[/name], [name]Mark[/name], [name]Kyle[/name], [name]Chase[/name], [name]Paul[/name], and [name]Cole[/name] are acceptable, I don’t know why [name]Lee[/name] isn’t! I agree that [name]Lee[/name] is an over-looked gem.

[name]Lee[/name] is nms but it’s by no means too short of a name or not usable. It’s got a definite character and charm to it that could serve any boy/man well.
(PS: I don’t much love it because it’s to -leigh, -ley, -ly for me but that’s really purely a personal thing. I know a [name]Lee[/name] and he’s great and the name really fits - it’s his mn though which he exclusively goes by).

Thank you guys for all the feedback!! I never expected this much but this is so cool. I’ll come back later and read it all more closely, but I wanted to quickly tell you how much I appreciate it…

@taz- thankyou for sticking up for [name]Lee[/name]! I also quite like [name]John[/name] and [name]Louis[/name], but I often have a bit more of a wilder taste.
@stephanie413- I also have a few longer names I like with the nn [name]Lee[/name], but I don’t love them like I love [name]Lee[/name].
@javad- I never thought of the Chinese connection until you mentioned it. I know [name]Lee[/name] used to be quite a common filler name, an boring name maybe. About [name]Lee[/name] as a nn, see previous.
@emmabobemma- Thanks… And about [name]Love[/name] as a name, I’ve been wondering if its too much. When the time comes, if I’d actually have a girl I don’t know if i’d have the nerve to use the name. But I do really like it.

Too short? Not at all. I know a couple [name]Lee[/name]'s. I think it’s a refreshing and underused choice. I would use it especially if it has meaning to you! I think something like [name]Edward[/name] or [name]Harrison[/name] or [name]Patrick[/name] would balance it well. Something like [name]Theodore[/name] is a little too much.

I’ve always liked the name [name]Lee[/name]. It’s handsome and strong, even if it is only 3 letters. Hey, it’ll be easy for him to learn to spell.

Sorry guys, for the brief, spaced replies I give. I love this place but I don’t get on here much, sooo…
@emilyva- [name]Lee[/name] [name]Pace[/name]??? no… And, ya I’m definitely thinking a longer mn. Or maybe two mns. I like [name]Evander[/name], but [name]Lee[/name] [name]Evander[/name] runs together a little. It looks and sounds awesome tho, really loving it. And [name]Maximillian[/name] is cool, but is it unbalanced with just [name]Lee[/name]?
marsy33- You’re expecting?!? Congratulations. Ohhh…I like [name]Hartley[/name], [name]Ripley[/name], [name]Riley[/name], [name]Wiley[/name], [name]Leander[/name]… I love your style! Another one I like is [name]Barkley[/name].
@tfzolghadr- Did I get your username spelled right?=D Your number 2, “It’s anti-trendy” is especially what I hope for in this name. And I hope it doesn’t get too popular. I also totally agree with you on [name]Leopold[/name], and some other such names…
@lightsea and claireelise- Thank you. I doubt I’d even think of think of this name if it didn’t have meaning to me, but it does, and I love it! I think I will try to find a mn that’s a bit long and more unusual. Like ??? Lol about it being easy to spell. So true;)

I don’t think it’s to small of a name,It stands well by its self, and opens you up for an endless combination of middle names. There are tons of one syllable first names ([name]John[/name], [name]Kia[/name], [name]Finn[/name], [name]Tim[/name]). I say go with [name]Lee[/name] and choose something longer for a middle name.
