Too trendy?

I recently saw the name Truett and thought it sounded like such a cool name but it seems like it’s generally been used as a boy name. However could you add an “E” to it to make it more feminine? Truette? Is this too trendy? I generally gravitate towards very classic old lady names. So this is a whole new ballpark for me.

With adding an “e” you might run into people wanting to emphasize the “ette” rather than pronouncing it more like “it” as I think (?) it’s supposed to be. [name_f]Kinda[/name_f] like “Nicolette” or “Colette”. But that only takes a quick correction, hopefully once per person.

I think it’s too trendy and I agree with previous post about the pronunciation issues. It looks like Tru-ette to me. What about [name_f]Trudy[/name_f]?

I’ve automatically pronounced it as Tru-ette (emphasis on Ette), what about [name_u]True[/name_u] as a name? And I think [name_m]Truett[/name_m] would make a lovely middle to most names.

I would pronounce them differently. Truette sounds very old timey county to me! Adorable if thats what you’re going for.

I kind of like it actually. I agree with others that spelling it Truette really makes me put the emphasis on the -ette part and say it more like [name_f]Colette[/name_f] or [name_f]Suzette[/name_f]. If that’s the pronunciation you want then go for it. Otherwise, I think [name_m]Truett[/name_m] is fun!

I would definitely pronounce it differently… more like true- eddy. I would either keep with the original spelling or keep to something similar like [name_u]True[/name_u] or Eliotte

I think it’s fine without the E at the end, and I really think it’s cute!
