I wouldn’t say Twilight is long gone, but it’s gone. By the time the kids are old enough to care it’ll be long gone, but at the moment other parents might notice. It just depends on how much you care.

I’d say it’s usable. I doubt primary school-age children in five or ten years time will be aware of Twilight. By that time the only ones who would make the connection would probably be adults who were fans of the series.

Personally I think the names are too close to each other and I definitely think of Twilight. As names on their own they are fine, but [name_u]Emmet[/name_u] and [name_f]Esme[/name_f] just sounds too matchy matchy

I definitely think of Twilight. However, I was 14 when Twilight came out so maybe in the future it won’t be as noticeable.

I do not know anything about Twilight. I am guessing many others are not familiar with the show either. Plus by the time your children are tweens/teens the show will get less and less known. Adding in another sibling(s) and it makes it even less noticeable.

[name_u]Emmett[/name_u] and [name_f]Esme[/name_f] are lovely together. Twilight came out when I was in middle school; I’m now about to begin my fourth year of university. The reference does feel a bit, well, dated to me at this point.

I think if they were the only siblings, yeah I wouldn’t go for them but with [name_m]Connor[/name_m] they seem to fit and I would go for it

My first thought was Twilight, but I dont think the association is a problem.

Honestly if I met siblings named [name_f]Esme[/name_f] and [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], Twilight wouldn’t even cross my mind. My main issue with them is how similar they are in sound and appearance but in 5/7 years time when kids start school and such, Twilight won’t be an issue. [name_m]Even[/name_m] now it’s already fading.

I thought of Twilight, but I’m a movie junkie. I don’t think it’s an issue, people may notice it if they’re familiar with the movies, but it’s not a deal breaker and your kids and their friends will probably be completely unaware. The hype is long gone.

I read the series when it came out and watched all the movies. Like the previous poster said, the hype is long gone. If it was [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] and [name_m]Edward[/name_m] it may have raised some eyebrows, but [name_f]Esme[/name_f] and [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] are totally usable.

I don’t think the Twilight reference is a big deal at all. The only thing is that [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] and [name_f]Esme[/name_f] are a bit similar, imo, so I’m not really a fan of them together in a sibset.

Thank you to everyone that commented! It made me feel better about the association! But I never thought [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] and [name_f]Esme[/name_f] were that similar? I mean yeah they both start with E and have an m in them but the sound is different to me. More thoughts on this issue??

I also think they’re a little too similar to one another. [name_f]Esme[/name_f] has all but one letter in common with [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], and they’re in the same order (E*me**), they both start with E and have and M sound somewhere in the middle, both are two syllables. (The fact that they’re both in Twilight is just one of many things they have in common.)

For me personally, this would be a deal-breaker, more than the Twilight association.
To illustrate further I could use [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] and [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], not [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] and [name_f]Esme[/name_f]. Probably wouldn’t use [name_f]Alma[/name_f] with either of the two, but would use [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] or [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]. Wouldn’t use [name_m]Samson[/name_m] and [name_f]Esme[/name_f], but would go for [name_m]Samson[/name_m] and [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]. [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] and [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] is fine, not [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] and [name_f]Esme[/name_f]. [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] has things in common with both, but I’d say she works, although feels more clunky than [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] and [name_f]Esme[/name_f]. Wouldn’t use [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] and [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], but [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] and [name_f]Esme[/name_f] works for me.

I only think of Twilight because you brought it up. I think it’s a non-issue.
