Too weird?

[name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Honey[/name]

I have been wanting to ask opinions on this but have been a little nervous since I know it is kind of out there! However, the name to us has great meaning…our wedding was in the summer of 2010 and it was an outdoor ceremony, beautiful day…as we exited the ceremony the song “American [name]Honey[/name]” by Lady Antebellum was playing. My husband and I, our immediate family and wedding party met just after the leaving the ceremony for photos and we were all embracing and crying tears of joy because it was such a beautiful moment while the song played. [name]Every[/name] time I hear it, it takes me back to that moment.
So, I have been considering using the name [name]Honey[/name] in our girl name. I still think it is a little too weird for the first name, but am slightly considering it. I really would like to use it as a middle with [name]Isabelle[/name], our other option is using my mom’s middle name which would be [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Jo[/name]. Thoughts??

Usually, I wouldn’t have great things to say about [name]Honey[/name]. It’s very nicknamey and cutesy to me, and some even see it in a down-market light. But [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Honey[/name] is too cute! I love the association for you, and [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Honey[/name] is really sweet. I definitely would not use [name]Honey[/name] as a FN, but I think [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Honey[/name] is just adorable. If you’re worried it is still too weird, you could do something like [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Jocelyn[/name] [name]Honey[/name] or [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Honey[/name]–that way, you could keep [name]Isabelle[/name], the significance of [name]Honey[/name], and still honor your mom.

Good luck!

I say, if it’s that meaningful for you, go for it! Especially with a fairly popular first name like [name]Isabelle[/name], I think an “out there” middle name is fine. Also, just an idea, I happen to love the French/Spanish word for “honey” which is “Miel” (Italian “Miele” or Catalan “[name]Mel[/name]”). Totally not a name, but maybe you could come up with some variants on that ([name]Amelia[/name]? I don’t know) that are less unusual, if you feel like that would be something you prefer. Other names that mean “honey”: [name]Jarah[/name], [name]Melita[/name].

I wouldn’t use it as a first, but I kind of love it as a middle for [name]Isabelle[/name]! It’s a really fun combo, and [name]Isabelle[/name] grounds [name]Honey[/name] well. I strongly prefer [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Honey[/name] to [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Jo[/name].

I [name]LOVE[/name] it as a middle for [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Honey[/name]. What an adorable and unique but still completely understandable and recognizable name. I also like the suggestion of [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Honey[/name] to honour your mother too. Either way I am definitely on board with [name]Honey[/name].

Sorry but [name]Honey[/name] gives me stripper/porn star vibes :frowning: I think [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Jo[/name] is gorgeous  It has a lot of spunk and charisma!

[name]Hi[/name] there,

I actually think [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Honey[/name] really works well in this instance, and I love the fact that it has such a a special meaning for you as well. I don’t think that [name]Honey[/name] is too “strange” a name by any means, but I do think that it works better as a middle name.

This is clearly a name that feels right to you on a number of levels - I think that honoring your little girl with a name that reminds you both of such a special occasion in your life can only be a wonderful thing.

Good luck with your choice

gilber

I think [name]Honey[/name] is too cutesy for a first name but for a middle name I say go for it. It actually goes really well with [name]Isabelle[/name].
[name]Love[/name] the suggestion of Isabelle Josephine Honey.

I love [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Honey[/name]!! Not too weird at all either - [name]Jamie[/name] [name]Oliver[/name] has a [name]Poppy[/name] [name]Honey[/name], and [name]Kate[/name] [name]Winslet[/name] has a [name]Mia[/name] [name]Honey[/name]. I think it’s so sweet as a middle name!!

Thanks for the feedback everyone!!! I’m loving [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Honey[/name], glad that most of you feel the same way. I totally agree that [name]Isabelle[/name] grounds [name]Honey[/name], but at the same time [name]Honey[/name] makes [name]Isabelle[/name] unique. I am not really a fan of the double middle names…so I think our decision will come down to whether we should honor my mom and go with [name]Jo[/name] or our choose our special connection with [name]Honey[/name]. Thanks!

I second what others have said about [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Honey[/name]! I think [name]Jo[/name] is a Scottish or something term of endearment (this is maybe in the scrabble dictionary, but please don’t quote me on it) - if that’s true it’s overlapping with [name]Honey[/name] : D. I’d go with [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] or [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Joanna[/name] or something if you can, over just [name]Jo[/name]. Going with what a pp said about miel, [name]Pamela[/name] means “all honey”, and while I like [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Pamela[/name] I’m a little nervous about initials I.P (thought I know others use it and it’s fine apparently). Maybe if you have a future daughter you could consider that as another middle. I think [name]Melissa[/name] is from the same root. I know [name]Pamela[/name] and [name]Melissa[/name] are both a little tired but I think they’re still pretty attractive. [name]Isabelle[/name] Jomela ; )?

I really like [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Honey[/name]! It sounds great, and has personal meaning to you, and since you’ll be using a “real” name in the front, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with [name]Honey[/name] in the middle. :o

One more vote for [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Honey[/name], though I think you’re already persuaded that she’s just precisely the right amount out there!

The lovely thing about [name]Jo[/name] is that it works so well for either gender - [name]Joseph[/name], [name]Jolie[/name], [name]Johannah[/name] … endless combinations.

I’m usually not a fan of [name]Honey[/name], but I think it works well with [name]Isabelle[/name]… Plus I [name]LOVE[/name] that it has a special meaning for you and your husband… I think personal meanings are important… Plus I think it will age nicely…
