Too Wizard of Oz

Would [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] be a little too over the top [name_m]Wizard[/name_m] of [name_m]Oz[/name_m]? [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] -> main character, [name_f]Iris[/name_f] -> [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f]. [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] is a family name, and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is the reverse of another family name.

I don’t think most people would know that [name_f]Iris[/name_f] means rainbow. It’s pretty? You could also do [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] or [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] to honor

I don’t think of [name_m]Wizard[/name_m] of [name_m]Oz[/name_m] at all, but the names flow really nicely though.

[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is lovely! I wouldn’t have thought about [name_m]Wizard[/name_m] of [name_m]Oz[/name_m]

Definitely not too [name_m]Wizard[/name_m] of [name_m]Oz[/name_m] — and I don’t find / recall the rainbow mention a big part of the story anyway…[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] Toto or [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] [name_f]Glinda[/name_f] would be too WoOz!

Somewhere over the rainbow?

[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is beautiful! I didn’t think of [name_m]Wizard[/name_m] of [name_m]Oz[/name_m]. I do slightly prefer [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f], though.

I don’t think [name_m]Wizard[/name_m] of [name_m]Oz[/name_m] when I hear it.

Not at all. It’s beautiful

Besides [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], [name_m]Wizard[/name_m] of [name_m]Oz[/name_m] wouldn’t even cross my mind for [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] as a combo.

Thanks everyone! I thought I was overthinking it, but wanted to make sure.

@kipperbo1 Thank you for the suggestions! I’m considering [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] as well. [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] is my mom’s name, and she was named after her grandmother, so part of me wants to keep the name as is to be part of a tradition, but I’m not necessarily sold on that yet. My husband also loves [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]

Definitely not. I wouldn’t even have put it together and I’m familiar with the meaning of [name_f]Iris[/name_f] & the Greek goddess. The name gives off a very vintage feel but not [name_m]Wizard[/name_m] of [name_m]Oz[/name_m]

I knew that, thanks - hence saying “a mention” in a song but it’s not like she’s following the rainbow. It’s a yellow brick road. In other words, the rainbow isn’t central or the first image you’d think of in relation to it. Anyway, I just can’t see anyone going “[name_f]Iris[/name_f] means rainbow (instead of flower/ part of eye) and [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] dreamt of a land somewhere over a rainbow, OMG!”
