I voted for [name]Soraya[/name]…is there any other ways to spell it?
I voted for [name]Alana[/name] [name]Shirin[/name]. For me it is the only name that truly reflects your daughter’s unique heritage. [name]Lila[/name] [name]Sloane[/name] doesn’t feel particularly Irish or Persian. [name]Soraya[/name] may be a Persian/Arabic name, but having a name that means “princess of [name]Ireland[/name]” kind of undermines the idea of having a name that reflects both sides of the family.
@molykate78 - I have seen [name]Suraya[/name] as an alternate spelling but we prefer the more traditional [name]Soraya[/name]
@agirlinred - we just find the “princess of [name]Ireland[/name]” meaning to be adorable! [name]Soraya[/name] is a very traditional Persian name and I have never seen it used outside of the Middle Eastern culture so the name feels very connected to both cultures to us.
I picked [name]Soraya[/name] [name]Ireland[/name], but be advised that [name]Ireland[/name] & [name]Sloane[/name] aren’t true Irish names. [name]Ireland[/name] is a modern American name started no doubt by [name]Kim[/name] Basinger and [name]Alec[/name] [name]Baldwin[/name]. I don’t think [name]Ireland[/name] is even used in [name]Ireland[/name]. [name]Sloane[/name] is a surname, yes its Irish, but it is not a traditional Irish female name. This is another one that is seldom used as a given name in [name]Ireland[/name].
[name]Lila[/name] [name]Sloane[/name] gets my vote
[name]Alana[/name] [name]Shirin[/name] got my vote.
I like [name]Soraya[/name] a lot, but [name]Soraya[/name] and [name]Ireland[/name] feel really mismatched together to me.
[name]Alana[/name] [name]Shirin[/name] is prettiest [name]IMO[/name]!
love [name]Soraya[/name] but not so keen on [name]Ireland[/name] as a name, but i like what it means. Have you considered swapping [name]Ireland[/name] for Éire? I think [name]Soraya[/name] Éire could be lovely & Éire was a goddess who name [name]Ireland[/name] which fits beautifully
I love all the first names but I love [name]Lila[/name] [name]Sloane[/name] as a combo, so that got my vote!
Good luck!
I voted [name]Alana[/name] [name]Shirin[/name] and I also like [name]Soraya[/name] [name]Ireland[/name], or the suggestion [name]Soraya[/name] [name]Eire[/name].
I personally really dislike [name]Sloane[/name] (although I love [name]Lila[/name]).
I am not a huge fan of [name]Sloane[/name], but it sounds fine with [name]Lila[/name].
[name]Soraya[/name] [name]Ireland[/name] is pretty, but a mouthful. What about [name]Soraya[/name] [name]Erin[/name]? In poetry, “[name]Erin[/name]” has been used to reference [name]Ireland[/name]. Some have even used it as another name for [name]Ireland[/name] entirely. (Though I’m not an expert on whether or not this is valid.) It’s a bit neater. [name]Soraya[/name] [name]Eire[/name] is also pretty. You’d get the same meaning, but with a slightly brisker flow.
On the other hand, I too love the name [name]Ireland[/name]. But, as others have pointed out, if you really want to reference your Irish heritage you might want to go with something else. Everyone thinks of [name]Alec[/name] [name]Baldwin[/name] and [name]Kim[/name] Basinger’s daughter, particularly after that phone call incident.
But hey, go with what you think is right! They’re all pretty.
Thanks for all the votes and opinions!
[name]Ireland[/name] is probably trendy and certainly not traditional but it does the reference enough for us! We would be fine using [name]Persia[/name] if it did not sound so stripperish and Iran certainly does not work as a name, politically or stylistically.
[name]Eire[/name] is lovely as well! I am not sure that [name]Soraya[/name] [name]Eire[/name] flows as well to my ear though but it is still beautiful as a combo
I think they are all wonderful!! I am torn between [name]Alana[/name] and [name]Lila[/name] though! but [name]Soraya[/name] is so great too. It is just too hard to choose.
I really like [name]Soraya[/name] but I’m not a fan of [name]Ireland[/name] personally. Although I usually don’t like alliteration, I like [name]Soraya[/name] [name]Sloane[/name]
