Inspired by @carolinewood - this is is a game called Top 5 Boy Names. I’ve done 5… because 10 is too hard imo for boys.
Someone (I’ll start) shares their top 5 boy names (can just be current or all time favourites!)
Then the person who replies will share their opinion (politely) on each of the top 5 names the person before shared. They will then share their top 5 favourite boy names, and so on.
(Before someone comments on the way I spell favourite… yes I’m British!)
My current list in no particular order:
[name_u]Bodhi[/name_u]
[name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_u]Willoughby[/name_u]
[name_m]Casper[/name_m]
[name_m]Raffi[/name_m]
You made great picks in my opinion!
[name_u]Theo[/name_u] - such a sweet name! [name_f]My[/name_f] cousin’s son is called [name_u]Theo[/name_u], short for [name_m]Theodore[/name_m].
Felix - one of my favorite movie characters is named [name_m]Felix[/name_m]. This name evokes great, cozy feelings!
Liam - a very strong name. It’s beautiful. A great mix of trendy and traditional.
Elliot - a traditional, professional name. It makes me think of a man wearing a suit and carrying a briefcase to work.
Henry - swoon! This is one of my long-time favorites. I think of a plain-spoken, honest man.
5 of my favorites:
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_m]Jack[/name_m]
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m]
[name_u]Benjamin[/name_u]
[name_u]George[/name_u]
Henry- [name_m]Henry[/name_m] is a very put together, almost regal name to me. It definitely grew on me after watching once upon a time but I know several of them and the name has lost a bit of sparkle for me
Jack- I like this one a lot. I could see it fitting on a multitude of personalities and it reminds me of [name_m]Jack[/name_m] from lost, [name_m]Jack[/name_m] o lanterns, [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and [name_f]Jill[/name_f], and [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_u]Frost[/name_u].
Benjamin- [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u] is so bouncy. I love the nickname [name_m]Benji[/name_m] but the full name makes me think of an evil character in a tv show or [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u] button
Thomas- [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is a nice classic name. It can stand up to any social situation and I can see it fitting on all types of people.
George- This one is not my style. There is nothing wrong with it, I just don’t like the repeated g sound.
Overall you like very classic names that have stood the test of time yet hold up in the modern world.
Ambrose— strong and classic without being overused. I’ve never met an [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] but it feels very usable to me, and ages well.
Caspian— quite fond of this, invokes strong fantasy and adventure vibes while still feeling grounded enough to use.
Raven — love this one especially on a boy! Feels mysterious and strong in all the right ways, and a great nature name to boot.
Draco— I like the vibes this one invokes and the strong sounds, but the [name_u]Harry[/name_u] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] connection is too strong for me personally.
Paris— not my style, but I’m a fan of place names, as well as unisex names on both boys and girls, so I totally get the appeal and think it’s usable!
Simon- [name_f]My[/name_f] dads name so i cant really see it for a baby but it is really nice
[name_m]Cassian[/name_m]- Really nice. [name_u]Strong[/name_u] and handsome
[name_u]Ash[/name_u]/Ashe- Nice and nature-y. Prefer the spelling ash to ashe
[name_u]Indigo[/name_u]- Interesting quite unusual but i like it
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]- [name_u]Love[/name_u]. Probably my favourite boys name. amazing
Rowan - fantasy hero vibes here
[name_m]Albie[/name_m] - cute! reminds me of [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m] Albies on the ATL Braves
[name_u]Beckett[/name_u] - oo very cool (Castle anyone?)
[name_u]Beau[/name_u] - southern cutie!
[name_m]Leon[/name_m] - jazz/blues musician name for sure
Jack
[name_m]Ethan[/name_m]
[name_m]Ford[/name_m]
[name_u]Archer[/name_u]
[name_m]Hart[/name_m]
Lev [name_m]Malachi[/name_m]–5; I prefer [name_u]Levi[/name_u].
[name_u]Jesse[/name_u] [name_u]Brooks[/name_u]–9; super handsome.
[name_m]Calvin[/name_m] [name_m]Pierce[/name_m]–5; nice, but sort of nice guy boring.
[name_u]Easton[/name_u] [name_u]Gray[/name_u]–6.5; stylish and suave.
[name_u]Milo[/name_u] [name_u]Brooks[/name_u]–4; not my style.
Asher [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] - I think it works nicely together though my my style.
[name_m]Malachy[/name_m] [name_u]Brooks[/name_u] - I like this a lot.
[name_m]Malachi[/name_m] [name_m]Rainier[/name_m] - Perhaps a bit too much of a mouthful.
[name_m]Josiah[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] - Kind and classic.
[name_u]Ezra[/name_u] [name_u]Blue[/name_u] - Easily my favourite. A real standout combination.
Jameson- I prefer [name_u]James[/name_u], but it is a cool name!
[name_m]Solomon[/name_m]- [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] is so underused and I love [name_u]Sol[/name_u]! Cute!
[name_m]Roarke[/name_m]- [name_m]Roarke[/name_m] has such a cool sound, but I do think of [name_m]Beto[/name_m] O’[name_m]Rourke[/name_m]
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m]- [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] is amazing! I love the nn [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m] and I think it ages really well
[name_m]Tobias[/name_m]- Another one I love! [name_u]Toby[/name_u] is so cute and this one also ages great.
[name_m]Fintan[/name_m] [name_m]Elio[/name_m] - Wow this is such a gorgeous combination, and I’ve never heard of [name_m]Fintan[/name_m] before! But it makes me think of a strong and adventurous little boy.
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u] [name_m]Andrei[/name_m] - Stunning & Charming! Another fantastic combination
[name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_m]Bader[/name_m] - I adore [name_m]Ronan[/name_m]! & While [name_m]Bader[/name_m] isn’t my personal taste, it sounds really nice as a middle name for [name_m]Ronan[/name_m]
[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] [name_m]Farley[/name_m] - Not really my style but I can see the appeal. It sounds empowering!
[name_m]Augustin[/name_m] [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] - [name_m]Augustin[/name_m] is extremely lovely! [name_u]Taylor[/name_u], again, not really my style but the combination gives such a pleasant image of a hard working & intelligent young man.
Evander [name_u]James[/name_u]-This is a dashing combo, but I just can’t get into [name_m]Evander[/name_m]. Something about it is too heavy for me.
Milan [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m]-[name_m]Even[/name_m] though neither or these names are quite my style, I do find this a romantic sounding combo.
Houston [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]-Hm. This is a little too much of a city to be a name to me. But it’s not unpleasant. I like the [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] part.
Arlo [name_m]Giovanni[/name_m]-That’s really nice! [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] is interesting. It’s spunky & artsy, but also kind of outdoorsy & cowboy-ish. And [name_m]Giovanni[/name_m] is just very handsome. This combo flows beautifully.
Milo [name_u]Augustine[/name_u]-I’m not generally huge on [name_u]Augustine[/name_u], but this combo flows nicely. [name_u]Milo[/name_u] is quirky & adorable.
I find mns for boys a little tricky, because I’d likely use [name_m]David[/name_m] after my dad or [name_m]Albert[/name_m] after my grandpa.
Gideon- I’ll be honest, I don’t like [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] at all.
Theodore- It’s cute! It’s sweet and solid and it’ll be a great name throughout life.
Gabriel- I actually really like [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u]! It feels so strong but soft at the same time.
Percy- I only think of this as a dog name, sorry!
Morgan- I like [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] for a boy! It’s very much unisex to me but I like it more for boys. It feels very soft yet solid at the same time.
Alexander “[name_u]Alex[/name_u]”-This name is a classic for a reason! It works on anybody & has a bunch of nn!
[name_u]Parker[/name_u]-[name_u]Love[/name_u] this name! I think it sounds so sporty but smart!
[name_u]Elliot[/name_u]-What a cute name! Gives me vibes of a sweet little boy
[name_u]Emery[/name_u]-my least favorite of your top but it’s still very sweet!
[name_m]Henrik[/name_m]-[name_u]Love[/name_u] this name! I think it’s just so regal
Henry
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
[name_m]Nathan[/name_m]
[name_u]Connor[/name_u]
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m]
My top 5 at the moment are Elliott Alaric Stephen (was my great grandfather’s name. Came over to [name_f]Canada[/name_f] from the old country when he was just a young boy about 12 years old ) Piers ( to [name_f]Honour[/name_f] a family friend who past away as a teen) Logan
I’ll leave my thoughts on both sets of names to keep it fair
Henry - One of the only classic names I like! I love how versatile it is and that I can picture a [name_m]Henry[/name_m] of any age.
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] - NMS but it’s versatile and works on any age, just like [name_m]Henry[/name_m].
[name_m]Nathan[/name_m] - It feels a bit dated to me (the only [name_m]Nathan[/name_m] I know is my friend’s dad), but it’s nice enough.
[name_u]Connor[/name_u] - I’m pretty neutral on [name_u]Connor[/name_u], I can’t find an issue with it though.
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m] - It used to be on my list! It’s been downgraded because I found names I like better, but I still love [name_m]Isaac[/name_m].
Elliott - It’s a nice enough name, but unfortunately it reminds me of someone I don’t like much.
[name_m]Alaric[/name_m] - It feels very witchy (in a good way). I’d love to meet a little [name_m]Alaric[/name_m]!
[name_m]Stephen[/name_m] - Feels very dated, but if it’s an honour then I think it’s usable.
[name_m]Piers[/name_m] - If it wasn’t for the negative association I have with this name I think I’d love it!
[name_u]Logan[/name_u] - A bit overused imo, but still a nice name.
