Top 3

Girl:

[name]Miriam[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers
[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers
[name]Julie[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers

Boy:

[name]John[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers
[name]Theodore[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers
[name]Timothy[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers

[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers is definitely my favorite, though honestly I’d like [name]Evelyn[/name] as a first above the others you’ve listed.

I really love [name]William[/name], but I’d be concerned that “[name]Will[/name] Ackers” sounds like “golly gee willikers”, not sure if that’s a big deal, but it crossed my mind.
I also like [name]Theodore[/name] and [name]Robert[/name] and [name]Timothy[/name]–I really think you can’t go wrong with any of those

No one has addressed this, so here goes. I think it is incredibly cruel to give a boy the middle name [name]Evelyn[/name]. Perhaps you could use [name]Everett[/name] or choose another family name. I think [name]Evelyn[/name] is an incredibly beautiful name…for a girl. In fact, I would use [name]Evelyn[/name] as your girl’s first name. My picks:

[name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Annabel[/name]
[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name]

[name]Timothy[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name]/[name]Everett[/name]/alternate

[name]Evelyn[/name] was originally a boys name.

Girl:
[name]Judith[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers ([name]Judy[/name]) - Hate [name]Judy[/name]! Awfully outdated and not cute for a little girl and a teen would hate it. I’m sorry but I feel strongly about this name and I really hate it! Blech!
[name]Julie[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers - [name]Julie[/name] is a little 80’s outdated too. I think [name]Julia[/name] or [name]Julianne[/name] are much better names yet still similar.
[name]Miriam[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers - [name]Miriam[/name] reminds me of a grandmother and I don’t think it suits anyone under the age of 35.
[name]Annabel[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers ([name]Annie[/name]) - [name]LOVE[/name]! [name]Annabel[/name] is adorable and I think coupled with [name]Evelyn[/name] is perfect! Good choice!
[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers - Absolutely love!!! Thinking of stealing this combo for me! So classic and timeless! Favourite!!

Boy:
[name]John[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers - [name]John[/name] is so snoozy and boring. All I think of is the endless [name]John[/name] [name]Smith[/name]'s in the world when I hear this name.
[name]Theodore[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers - [name]Love[/name]!!! [name]Theodore[/name]/[name]Theo[/name] is so handsome and strong! Perfect name! On my list!
[name]Timothy[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers - Meh. [name]Don[/name]'t really have an opinion about it.
[name]Robert[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers - Ok. But not something I would pick — ever.
[name]William[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers - [name]Love[/name] again!! I think its such a beautiful name for a boy! Classic and timeless like [name]Elizabeth[/name].

I would go with [name]Annabel[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Theodore[/name] and [name]William[/name]! They make a great sibset!

I really like [name]Annabel[/name] and [name]Judith[/name] from your girls list, and [name]William[/name] and [name]Timothy[/name] from your boys list.

[name]Don[/name]'t know if this bothers you or not, but the main character on the TV show [name]How[/name] I Met Your Mother is named [name]Ted[/name] (presumably [name]Theodore[/name]) [name]Evelyn[/name] Mosby. Not a bad namesake at all, just something that came to mind.

My favourites are [name]Theodore[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers and [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers, though I like [name]Miriam[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers too.
Have you considered using [name]Julie[/name] as a nickname for [name]Juliet[/name] or [name]Julia[/name]?

Girl:
[name]Judith[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers ([name]Judy[/name]) - I think [name]Judith[/name] is coming back in style, but it’s still enough out of style to make me hesitant to recommend it. I have to ask myself, “Would I want to be named [name]Judith[/name] nn [name]Judy[/name]?” No. Definitely no.
[name]Julie[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers - Cute. [name]Julia[/name] would match your classic style better.
[name]Miriam[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers - Very cute!! I like it.
[name]Annabel[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers ([name]Annie[/name]) - [name]Annabel[/name] is by FAR my favorite, but it doesn’t flow with [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers. [name]Annabel[/name] Ackers is very nice, however.
[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers - I love [name]Elizabeth[/name], but not with the middle name [name]Evelyn[/name].

Boy:

  1. [name]Theodore[/name] (Awesome!)
  2. [name]William[/name] (Classic!)
  3. [name]John[/name] (What’s not to love?)

** If you give your son [name]Evelyn[/name] as a middle name, he will surely resent it. It’s not worth it. Try to find a more masculine variation to honor your family members.

For your girls-- try to think of flow both with [name]Evelyn[/name], [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers, and just Ackers. For all, I think you need a name that starts and ends on a consonant sound, since that’s a lot of vowels (and vowels really flow into each other).

That leaves [name]Judith[/name] and [name]Miriam[/name], which are by far the most distinctive and interesting names on your list. I really seeing classic, underused [name]Judith[/name], btw, but [name]Miriam[/name] (esp nn [name]Miri[/name] or Miro) is very sweet too. Ideally, you’d select a 2-syllable name to balance 3-syllable [name]Evelyn[/name]. Therefore, for style, sound and meter, my vote goes unambiguously to [name]Judith[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers.

For the boys-- same idea. I wouldn’t select a name that ends on a vowel sound, such as [name]Timothy[/name], as it crashes into both [name]Evelyn[/name] and Ackers. Since you pronounce the male [name]Evelyn[/name] with only 2 syllables (in your family’s case, EHV-lyn), I’d pick a 3-syllable first name. That leaves you with [name]Theodore[/name] and [name]William[/name]. It’s a tough decision! On the one hand, [name]Theodore[/name] is a little more interesting and uncommon than [name]William[/name], with a cool-guy nickname in the form of [name]Theo[/name]. But [name]Theodore[/name] ends with an -er sound, as does Ackers. [name]William[/name] on the other hand is liquid and works so beautifully with your surname. On balance, I’d pick [name]William[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers.

I really like your naming style! The girl picks are classic, yet quirky, and the boy picks are strong, handsome names! So in that respect, you really can’t go wrong! Here are my thoughts:

[name]Judith[/name]- I only have positive things to say about this name, as it’s my aunt’s. She is the kindest, most generous person I have ever met, and I smile when I hear or see the name. [name]Judy[/name] is a sweet little nickname too!
[name]Julie[/name]- I can’t say that I like nicknames as firstnames. Why not name her [name]Julia[/name] and call her [name]Julie[/name]?
[name]Miriam[/name]- Such an elegant name! I love it, but I don’t find that it flows best with your surname or [name]Evelyn[/name].
[name]Annabel[/name]- This name is so popular right now, but I adore it all the same! I love the alliteration, and [name]Annie[/name] is a cute nickname.
[name]Elizabeth[/name]- [name]Love[/name], love, love! There is so much you can do with this name! It’s perfect for all personalities and is a timeless classic.

[name]John[/name]- [name]One[/name] of my favorite names for a little boy. Currently loving [name]Johnny[/name] as a nickname, which sounds great with your surname!
[name]Theodore[/name]- So sweet, yet grown up at the same time. [name]Teddy[/name] is my favorite nickname for [name]Theodore[/name]!
[name]Timothy[/name]- Can’t say that I like this one. It just sounds wimpy to me, which is weird, because the only [name]Timothy[/name] I know is 6"5 and as muscular as the Hulk…
[name]Robert[/name]- I like this name too! And I love [name]Bobby[/name] as a nickname.
[name]William[/name]- Another favorite of mine! [name]Love[/name]!

  1. [name]Annabel[/name]

  2. [name]Elizabeth[/name]

  3. [name]Judith[/name]

  4. [name]Julie[/name]

  5. [name]Miriam[/name]

  6. [name]John[/name]

  7. [name]William[/name]

  8. [name]Theodore[/name]

  9. [name]Robert[/name]

  10. [name]Timothy[/name]

Best of luck!

Girl:
[name]Judith[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers ([name]Judy[/name]) - I think this is my favourite. I know someone upthread asked “would YOU want to be named [name]Judith[/name] NN [name]Judy[/name]” and in my case, I would. It has tons of history and weight, isn’t too common, and [name]Judy[/name] gives it a rockabilly feel akin to [name]Betty[/name]. I love [name]Elizabeth[/name] but its comparatively common.
[name]Julie[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers - Dislike. Find [name]Julie[/name] cutesy and nickname-ish and likely to get called Joolz anyway.
[name]Miriam[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers - I think of [name]Miriam[/name] and [name]Judith[/name] being the same background and generation, and I like the NN [name]Mira[/name]/[name]Miri[/name], but I don’t find [name]Miriam[/name] as pleasing a sound as [name]Judith[/name], and I like the -th ending. [name]Miriam[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] has that strange clunky m/n assonance. It’s not bad though. I agree with [name]Blade[/name] it’d be my top two for girls though.
[name]Annabel[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers ([name]Annie[/name]) - I love [name]Annabel[/name] but [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] goes all strange when I say it, Annabe Levelin’, [name]Anna[/name] Belleleven, etc. I’m not fond of [name]Annie[/name], either.
[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers - Very, very vowelly, as much as I usually like [name]Elizabeth[/name].

Boy:
On the boy’s side its between just two names for me.
[name]John[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers - Like.
and
[name]William[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers

I find [name]John[/name] ironically less popular than [name]William[/name] (by quite a bit here, don’t know about where you are) and very distinctively male to ground [name]Evelyn[/name]. [name]William[/name] is astoundingly popular here for boys AND [name]Willa[/name]/[name]Willow[/name] are big for girls and I just find it sort of… not bad, but… I think I would go with [name]John[/name].

Yes and yes. I have to agree with these recommendations for good flow and balance. [name]Judith[/name] and [name]William[/name] work best.

[name]Miriam[/name] and [name]Theodore[/name] are my favorites!

Girl Faves:
[name]Annabel[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers ([name]Annie[/name]) - [name]Annie[/name] is a very cute nn and your daughter would have lots of other cute nn options as well
[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers - This is another beautiful name with numerous great nn options

Boy Faves:
[name]Theodore[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers - [name]Teddy[/name] is an adorable nn for [name]Theodore[/name]
[name]Timothy[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers - This combo is my favorite of your choices, baby [name]Timmy[/name] could grow into [name]Tim[/name] while sticking with [name]Timothy[/name] full at the same time
[name]William[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] Ackers - Third favorite

With a predominantly female choice for the middle name I think you’ve done a great job at picking strong male first names to pair with it no matter which name you go with!

I’m disappointed in not catching this HIMYM parallel myself :stuck_out_tongue: . Like you said, not a bad namesake at all, I think everyone that watches the show loves [name]Ted[/name], but they do tease him about his middle name.

It might not matter by the time he grows up, but a character on “[name]How[/name] I Met Your Mother,” is named, [name]Theodore[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] nn [name]Ted[/name]. [name]Just[/name] thought I would mention it.

My favorites are [name]Judith[/name] and [name]Timothy[/name]… and secondly, [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]John[/name]. I adore the name [name]Judith[/name]. Regarding some of the boy options: [name]Theodore[/name] Ackers does not flow as well, imo. A pp made a good point about [name]William[/name]. The nn [name]Will[/name] ("[name]Will[/name] Ackers") is rather problematic. Good luck!
