Top baby names in the Irish Times birth announcements 2013

Here is a link to the most popular names in the Irish Times birth announcements for 2013:

I think we are much more conservative with our names than in the US or the UK.

The Irish top 100 names list is usually released in the summer.

There is nothing wrong with [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] for top names. I also like [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]/[name_m]Hugh[/name_m], [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] for boys and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] for girls. [name_f]Lara[/name_f] is an interesting addition. I’m happy to see an Irish name like [name_m]Oisin[/name_m] the list but sadly I have to ponder over the question: where have all the Irish girls names gone? [name_f]Aoife[/name_f], [name_f]Niamh[/name_f], [name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f], where are you? Thanks for sharing!

I only like [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] and [name_m]Oisin[/name_m] of the boys’ side - though [name_u]Max[/name_u] is all right I guess. Can’t deal with the others.

[name_f]Emily[/name_f] and [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] are okay for girls, followed by [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. I wouldn’t say [name_f]Ava[/name_f]/[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]/[name_f]Sophia[/name_f]/[name_f]Emma[/name_f] are notably more conservative than US/UK - more like same ol’, same ol’.

But yeah, I can think of a lot of Irish names I like that aren’t here.
