From my favourite to least favourite:

[name_u]Kieran[/name_u]
Nox
[name_m]Adam[/name_m]
[name_m]Erik[/name_m]
[name_m]Cesare[/name_m]
Asterius
[name_u]Noah[/name_u]
[name_u]Leith[/name_u]
[name_u]Dale[/name_u]

I like [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] a lot, but not so keen on the others. I’ve only known a female [name_u]Leith[/name_u] even though it’s a unisex name so can’t see it on a boy so much. [name_u]Dale[/name_u] was common where I grew up for both boys and girls and just feels very dull and dated to me. [name_u]Noah[/name_u] has never appealed much to me and now has become very over-used.

Fave to least fave:

[name_u]Kieran[/name_u]
[name_m]Erik[/name_m]
[name_u]Noah[/name_u]
Nox
[name_m]Adam[/name_m]
[name_u]Leith[/name_u]
[name_u]Dale[/name_u]
[name_m]Cesare[/name_m]
Asterius

Nox – I greatly prefer this to [name_m]Knox[/name_m] (I’m a big fan of [name_f]Lux[/name_f] & [name_f]Nyx[/name_f]). I like the Latin meaning, and it’s short and punchy. [name_u]Love[/name_u] him.
[name_m]Cesare[/name_m] – I love this pronounced in Italian, however, I think that it would very rarely be pronounced that way outside of [name_f]Italy[/name_f]/Italian speaking populations, which would really bother me… CHEH-zuh-reh…sounds so nice!
Asterius – I really like the idea of this one, and the astronomical meaning is nice. I like this spelling, but also like Asterios. A very quirky yet cool name.
[name_u]Noah[/name_u] – though I do find it rather ubiquitous these days, it became popular for good reason - it’s got a nice sound and look.
[name_m]Adam[/name_m] – I actually very rarely see/hear this name used anymore, and when I do, I find it quite refreshing.
[name_u]Kieran[/name_u] – a nice strong name.
[name_u]Leith[/name_u] – I find these last three somewhat dated, and quite lacklustre, I’m afraid.
[name_m]Erik[/name_m]
[name_u]Dale[/name_u]

[name_u]Leith[/name_u] - my fave of your list. Unusual, calm sounding but also exotic & woodsy.
[name_u]Noah[/name_u] - Classic, handsome, quite popular. Would be surprised if this isn’t in the top 10 or 20.
[name_u]Kieran[/name_u] - I prefer [name_m]Caelan[/name_m] as a similar sounding celtic name, but I can’t think of anything wrong with [name_u]Kieran[/name_u].
[name_m]Erik[/name_m] - I only like it with this spelling. Disney prince, viking, easy to remember, phonetic. Check check check check.
[name_m]Adam[/name_m] - the O.G.
Nox - I prefer [name_m]Fox[/name_m] but Nox does look & sound cool.

[name_u]Dale[/name_u] - this name just has no personality or cadence for me, all I associate it with is the Chipmunk.
Asterius - this sounds to me like a name of a mythological unicorn or something. Not bad sounding, but I can’t picture it on a real life person.
[name_m]Cesare[/name_m] - my mom had a small dog named [name_m]Caesar[/name_m], and Kroll Show has a very silly character called C-zar and I can’t get over it. What about a name of a specific [name_m]Caesar[/name_m] like [name_m]Marcus[/name_m]/[name_m]Aurelius[/name_m] or something?

Here we go!

[name_u]Noah[/name_u]-I think this is fine. It’s not as exciting as some other biblical names. Super common too.

[name_u]Dale[/name_u]-Meh. This seems dated.

[name_m]Adam[/name_m]-Hm. See [name_u]Noah[/name_u].

[name_u]Kieran[/name_u]-I love this, although prefer [name_m]Ciaran[/name_m]. It’s handsome.

Nox (yes this spelling and not [name_m]Knox[/name_m])-Looks weird without the ‘K’.

[name_u]Leith[/name_u]-So cool! I rarely see this, but it’s nice. [name_u]Unique[/name_u], yet simple.

Asterius-This is too much.

[name_m]Cesare[/name_m]-Not sure…

[name_m]Erik[/name_m]-Hm. Seems dated too.

[name_u]Kieran[/name_u] & [name_u]Leith[/name_u] are my favorites. [name_u]Leith[/name_u] is more interesting. [name_m]Knox[/name_m] with a ‘K’ would be right up there. I’m picking about spellings!

From favourite to least fave:

Nox: Cool, spiky, daring but wearable. An amazing name! Only downside is that some people might assume the [name_m]Knox[/name_m] spelling.

[name_u]Leith[/name_u]: I’m surprised by how high I’m ranking this one, since surnamey names generally aren’t my thing. But I really like the soft, distinctive sound of this. It reminds me of the Scandinavian [name_m]Leif[/name_m].

[name_m]Erik[/name_m]: Strong, simple, Viking-chic. A powerful and timeless name.

[name_m]Cesare[/name_m]: This is certainly very handsome and rather suave-sounding. I really like it, but I think you’d need Italian heritage to pull this one off.

[name_u]Noah[/name_u]: Yes, it’s super popular at the moment, but it’s got a beautiful sound which still feels slightly quirky because of its softness. A lovely, if a little unexciting, choice.

[name_m]Adam[/name_m]: A nice, solid, timeless classic, never too overused but also never too far from the top of the rankings. I like the sound of the above more but this is a great can’t-go-wrong sort of name.

[name_u]Dale[/name_u]: I agree that it feels perhaps a tad dated, but it’s never been that popular so it’s nowhere near [name_m]Larry[/name_m] or [name_m]Jeff[/name_m] levels of datedness to me. Thinking about it objectively, I actually really like [name_u]Dale[/name_u]: short, soft, simple and with a lovely natural namesake.

[name_u]Kieran[/name_u]: I’ve just never been a fan of this name. I grew up with several, and they were all “naughty boy” types (just coincidence I’m sure!) Because I’ve known a fair few Kierans around my age (mid 20s), this feels more dated than [name_u]Dale[/name_u] to me.

Asterius: I really like the short, striking, no-nonsense thing you’ve got going on with the majority of your list, and Asterius sticks out like a sore thumb here to me. It is a cool name, I guess, but way more [name_m]OTT[/name_m] than the likes of [name_m]Adam[/name_m] and [name_u]Noah[/name_u], or even your more unusual options like [name_m]Erik[/name_m], [name_u]Leith[/name_u] and Nox. I’m ranking this one last because it’s too much for me, and I really wouldn’t like to be called something like this myself — but who knows, it could work for your kid! The only problem is that there’s no way of knowing in advance whether we’re naming a handsome extrovert or a bookish introvert.

I love your eclectic list, by the way. Kudos to anyone with both [name_u]Noah[/name_u] and Asterius on their shortlist!

[name_f]Sunniva[/name_f] & [name_f]Katinka[/name_f] - Thank you both so much for giving such thorough rankings and insights! I really appreciate your honest answers.

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_m]Cesare[/name_m] but it would slay me if people couldn’t/wouldn’t get that it is pronounced CHEZ-a-ray not [name_m]Caesar[/name_m].

I believe someone asked if we were Italian and the answer is yes, we mostly have Sicilian and Celtic heritage. My husband has black hair, hazel eyes & tan skin and I have dark brown hair, hazel eyes and fair skin. So more than likely our kids will have very dark hair and hazel eyes, toss up on the skin tone.

We are currently TTC so this is all wishful planning at this point! But it does help us out so much. So thank you all for your opinions!

[name_u]Noah[/name_u] - terribly popular, but for a reason. I really like [name_u]Noah[/name_u], but it’s popularity would put me off.
[name_u]Dale[/name_u] - This is a name I’ve never liked. Feels quite dated.
[name_m]Adam[/name_m] - a handsome classic, but feels very religious
[name_u]Kieran[/name_u] - the most boring celtic name going, every other man my age I meet seems to be called [name_u]Kieran[/name_u], and then I’ve also read lots of books recently with a [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] in them. [name_u]Kiernan[/name_u] is better, as is [name_m]Kier[/name_m] by itself
Nox - I really like this one, short and sharp
[name_u]Leith[/name_u] - I live near a place called [name_u]Leith[/name_u], which is well known for being largely full of drug addicts and prostitutes and often smells of sewage, so I really can’t imagine why anyone would name their child this. [name_m]Leif[/name_m] is much better
Asterius - Astronomical with easy nickname [name_f]Aster[/name_f], I really like it
[name_m]Cesare[/name_m] - pronounced CHEZ-eh-ray I love it, otherwise I just think of [name_m]Julius[/name_m] Ceaser.
[name_m]Erik[/name_m] - seems very stereotypical Scandinavian. It’s nice enough, and I definitely prefer the [name_m]Erik[/name_m] spelling, but also seems kind of boring
