Top Combos for Baby Boy Bao Bucket (Getting closer!)

Hey everyone! Sorry it has been a while, but good news… I have a much shorter list for the boy possibilities. Care to help out with the boy combos for our team green number 3 set to likely appear in [name_u]July[/name_u]?

For anyone new to my posts, I’m using quite a bit of shorthand here (Metal [name_m]Ox[/name_m], for instance) that you might not have context for but could easily find in other posts of mine, but I’ll take your feedback at face value either way.

Tops in the Running:

Constantine [name_u]Jules[/name_u] - “forever youthful”
Some pros: Time-based meaning. Hard C/K sound. T heavy. [name_u]Jule[/name_u]/Julian honor. Dashing. Possible nicknames TinTin and [name_u]Kostya[/name_u]. One of my partner’s favorites for first name.
Some cons:

Endymion [name_u]Jules[/name_u] - ‘to plunge into youthfulness’
Some pros: 49/50 month [name_f]Olympiad[/name_f] cycle name. [name_f]Non[/name_f]-obvious -io to match siblings. [name_u]Jule[/name_u]/Julian honor. Mythological and literary.
Some cons: Not my partner’s absolute favorite as a first name. The uneasy bits about the mythological background.

Endymion [name_u]Jem[/name_u] - ‘to plunge into revolution’
Some pros: this is likely my favorite MEANING on the list. It takes the usually negative connotation to me of [name_u]Jem[/name_u] as a [name_u]James[/name_u]-based “supplanter” and turns it on its head. [name_m]Endymion[/name_m] is “to plunge into” but in the context of the stars as we make our daily revolution and they appear to plunge into the ocean horizon, which is just such a beautiful image of stars making ripples as they drop into the sea. So here I see the “supplanter” as a willingness to plunge into that daily, monthly, olympiadic, and ritualistic revolution… that everything is at once always changing and always staying the same. Other pros: the [name_f]Olympiad[/name_f] connection. [name_f]Non[/name_f]-obvious -io to match siblings. [name_u]Jule[/name_u]/Julian + [name_u]James[/name_u]/Jimmy mother-son honor combo.
Some cons: Not my partner’s absolute favorite as a first name, though [name_u]Jem[/name_u] is one of his absolute favorites for a middle. The uneasy bits about the mythological background. The face value of the name meanings (always uneasy about “supplanter” for the third boy… it feels like he is fated to create rivalry).

Ferdinand [name_u]Jules[/name_u] - ‘youthful, bold voyager’
Some pros: Such a dashing, sea-faring adventurer vibe. Metal ox. [name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m] the Bull. [name_u]Jule[/name_u]/Julian honor. Literary.
Some cons: Not my partner’s favorite first name.

Ozymandias [name_u]Jem[/name_u] - ‘supplanting empire’
Some pros: Literary and historical. Another turning of the [name_u]Jem[/name_u] on its head. It pulls more on the ephemeral and entropic nature of the supposedly everlasting empire than it does on the ‘replacement’ connotation. Cool nicknames of [name_m]Oz[/name_m] and [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m], but also the honor nickname [name_m]Manny[/name_m]. [name_u]Jule[/name_u]/Julian and [name_u]James[/name_u]/Jimmy mother-son honor.
Some cons: [name_m]Can[/name_m] come off as pretentious (but also not sure that any of my names ever truly escape this). Not my partner’s favorite first.

Taliesin [name_m]Artair[/name_m] [name_u]Milo[/name_u] - ‘gracious bear with a shining brow’
Some pros: [name_u]Taliesin[/name_u] honors [name_u]Jule[/name_u] through her interior design work at [name_u]Taliesin[/name_u] [name_u]East[/name_u] with [name_m]Frank[/name_m] [name_m]Lloyd[/name_m] [name_m]Wright[/name_m]. Literary and mythological. One of the favorite first names for my partner. [name_m]Artair[/name_m] honors my partner though the meaning of [name_m]Artair[/name_m] as ‘bear’ (his Chinese name meaning blazing bear’ here echoed by the ‘shining’ meaning, too). [name_u]Milo[/name_u] is also one of his favorites via The Phantom Tollbooth. TAM initials honor MIL.
Some cons: Double middle?

Taliesin [name_m]Malachite[/name_m] - ‘soft shining brow’
Some pros: still a TaM combo for MIL. Partner favorite first name. Same as above, honors my [name_u]Jule[/name_u]. [name_m]Malachite[/name_m] also honors [name_f]Jade[/name_f].
Some cons: overall sibset flow? I’m not sure this is an actual issue.

Ulysses [name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m] - ‘bold voyager on an Odyssey’
Some pros: partner’s favorite first name. Literary and mythological. [name_m]Grant[/name_m]. Metal [name_m]Ox[/name_m]. Dashing, sea-faring adventurer vibe. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite first to say in [name_u]French[/name_u]. [name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m] takes the “wrathful” edge off [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] and makes it all about the adventuring.
Some cons:

Ulysses [name_u]Jem[/name_u] - ‘wrathful supplanter’
Some pros: Partner’s probable favorite combo. Literary and mythological. [name_m]Grant[/name_m]. Metal [name_m]Ox[/name_m].
Some cons: negative suspected etymological meanings. Shorter than siblings’ names?

Ulysses [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] - ‘wrathful peace’
Some pros: [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] balances [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] with the meaning.
Some cons: Husband simply never a fan of [name_m]Solomon[/name_m].

Ulysses [name_u]Taliesin[/name_u] - ‘wrathful, shining brow’
Some pros: Dashing combo. Literary and mythological. I think I prefer [name_u]Taliesin[/name_u] in the middle spot.
Some cons: overall meaning isn’t as strong as many others.

Concessions (at least one element to make each of us very happy):

Constantine [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] - “eternal (constant) peace”
He loves [name_u]Constantine[/name_u]. I love [name_m]Solomon[/name_m]. Perfect meaning for the final child.

Ferdinand [name_m]Scipio[/name_m] - ‘walking stick of the bold voyager’
I love [name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m]. He loves [name_m]Scipio[/name_m]. Great meaning!

Rubeus [name_u]Constantine[/name_u] - ‘steadfast ruby’
I love Rubeus. He loves [name_u]Constantine[/name_u].

Rubeus [name_u]Oberon[/name_u] - ‘red bear’
I love Rubeus. He loves [name_u]Oberon[/name_u].

Rubeus [name_u]Taliesin[/name_u] - ‘red, shining brow’
I love Rubeus. We both love [name_u]Taliesin[/name_u] but I think I might like it better as a middle?

Probably not contenders anymore (because they’re more about me than my partner):

Rubeus [name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m] - ‘bold, red voyager’
So handsome!

Taliesin [name_m]Benoit[/name_m] - ‘shining, anointed brow’
[name_u]Love[/name_u] this meaning!

Eek… it feels good to have some more substance to our boy list!

Constantine [name_u]Jules[/name_u]
[name_m]Endymion[/name_m] [name_u]Jules[/name_u]
[name_u]Taliesin[/name_u] [name_m]Artair[/name_m] [name_u]Milo[/name_u]

My favorites for you are [name_u]Constantine[/name_u] [name_u]Jules[/name_u]/Solomon and Rubeus [name_u]Constantine[/name_u]. They work really well with your boys’ names, imo, and they just flow really beautifully.

Yay you’re back!

My favourites…
[name_u]Constantine[/name_u] [name_u]Jules[/name_u] - love the overall sound, love the flow of [name_u]Constantine[/name_u] with brothers’ names, TinTin nickname is adorable, meaning feels fitting for the youngest!

Taliesin [name_m]Artair[/name_m] [name_u]Milo[/name_u] - love all 3 names individually and together, love all the honours that are packed into this name! I wonder though, would you consider just [name_u]Taliesin[/name_u] [name_m]Artair[/name_m]? It removes the TAM connection but has the same syllable length and single middle to match the other boys. [name_m]Just[/name_m] an idea! I don’t think they necessarily need to match.

Ulysses [name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m] - the meaning! The vibes!

I’d been wondering how the lists were going! Nice to see you.
The ones that stand out to me are
[name_m]Endymion[/name_m] [name_u]Jem[/name_u] ([name_m]Endymion[/name_m] isn’t my personal favorite fn, but I know you love it, and I love the meaning and imagery you see in this combo. I also like the quirky contrast of regal [name_m]Endymion[/name_m] and casual [name_u]Jem[/name_u], and the repeated M sound; also that [name_u]Jem[/name_u] sounds like [name_f]Gem[/name_f], which enhances the star imagery);
[name_u]Taliesin[/name_u] [name_m]Artair[/name_m] [name_u]Milo[/name_u] (I love [name_u]Taliesin[/name_u] and wish I could consider it, and this is so packed with lovely sounds and meaning! You can almost see it shine);
[name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] [name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m] (I love saying [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] in [name_f]English[/name_f]; I should look it up in [name_u]French[/name_u]! I like how [name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m] directs the meaning of [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m], and it also seems like this one would make both of you happy with a favorite name);
[name_u]Constantine[/name_u] [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] (as a bit of a compromise, not sure it gets better than this. [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] meaning for the last baby.)

We’re also considering a [name_u]James[/name_u] variant for a third son

What gorgeous names! [name_u]Constantine[/name_u] has got to be my favorite! I also love [name_m]Endymion[/name_m] and [name_u]Taliesin[/name_u]!

Honestly, as soon as I read [name_u]Constantine[/name_u] [name_u]Jules[/name_u], the others were out. It’s not only super handsome as a combo but [name_u]Constantine[/name_u] is also such an underappreciated gem of a name that, like your sons’ names, feels grand but approachable. [name_u]Kostya[/name_u] is intriguing, TinTin is sweet, the honour name is lovely and there are, apparently, no cons. Definitely a winner!

[name_f]My[/name_f] overall favorites:
[name_u]Constantine[/name_u] [name_u]Jules[/name_u] - just a cool name, very Metal [name_m]Ox[/name_m]
[name_u]Taliesin[/name_u] [name_m]Malachite[/name_m] - I like T [name_m]Artair[/name_m] [name_u]Milo[/name_u] as well, but your boys have those short and zippy middles. While [name_u]Milo[/name_u] itself fits, I think [name_m]Malachite[/name_m] meshes a bit better overall.
[name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] [name_u]Jem[/name_u] - the meaning gives me pause but this is the combo that feels like it fits best. Also the J plus the strong ul could be a bit of a mix around [name_u]Jule[/name_u] honor.

I also really like (some of my main holdbacks on these are that they are noted as concessions or “not the absolute favorite”):
[name_m]Endymion[/name_m] [name_u]Jules[/name_u]
[name_m]Ozymandias[/name_m] [name_u]Jem[/name_u]
[name_u]Taliesin[/name_u] [name_m]Artair[/name_m] [name_u]Milo[/name_u]
[name_u]Constantine[/name_u] [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] (gorgeous meaning)
[name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m] [name_m]Scipio[/name_m]
Rubeus [name_u]Constantine[/name_u]
Rubeus [name_u]Taliesin[/name_u]

Wow, [name_u]Constantine[/name_u] [name_u]Jules[/name_u]!!! Is this a new contender or? Because I can’t believe I missed it. It’s so handsome and wonderful. Nickname [name_u]Kostya[/name_u] is underappreciated. It’s a brilliant idea.

Really like [name_m]Endymion[/name_m] [name_u]Jule[/name_u] for you, also. Mostly because of the -io connection but it’s adorable on its own too

I absolutely LOVE [name_u]Constantine[/name_u] [name_u]Jules[/name_u] and [name_u]Taliesin[/name_u] [name_m]Artair[/name_m] [name_u]Milo[/name_u]. I think [name_u]Taliesin[/name_u] works fine with H and A, but [name_u]Constantine[/name_u] is a really perfect fit, it’s not exactly the same in sound but it feels like it has the same vibe. Also like all the Rubeus combos

Oh, so happy you’re posting again!!
I always enjoy reading through your beautiful lists.

Constantine [name_u]Jules[/name_u] - so handsome and strong! I love [name_u]Jules[/name_u] for you for the meaning behind it. I also absolutely love nn [name_u]Kostya[/name_u]! So sweet and underappreciated, and it fits in nicely with big brothers.
[name_m]Endymion[/name_m] [name_u]Jules[/name_u] - this one is so lovely!!! I love how magical [name_m]Endymion[/name_m] feels, and how perfectly it fits in with brothers names (love that hidden io!!). Again, [name_u]Jules[/name_u] is a lovely honor, and it flows so nicely with [name_m]Endymion[/name_m]. I don’t think many people will know the mythological history of it, which seems to be an issue for you!
[name_m]Endymion[/name_m] [name_u]Jem[/name_u] - okay, this one is definitely my favorite! Everything I said about [name_m]Endymion[/name_m] in my previous comment, adding that [name_u]Jem[/name_u] brings out the soft, gentle nature of [name_m]Endymion[/name_m]. I absolutely love all of the meaning behind this combo as well! It has the most beautiful imagery, and just seems so very you.
[name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m] [name_u]Jules[/name_u] - I’ve always been so happy to see you considering [name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m]. It’s such a warm, cozy name. It also feels like a perfect brother to H & A. I agree with you that the combo feels adventurous and charming.
[name_m]Ozymandias[/name_m] [name_u]Jem[/name_u] - oh, it’s so nice to know [name_m]Ozymandias[/name_m] is still on your list! I remember you talking about how special it was. It isn’t my absolute favorite for you, but it is lovely!!
[name_u]Taliesin[/name_u] [name_m]Artair[/name_m] [name_u]Milo[/name_u] - oh my  I don’t remember this combo!!! It’s absolutely incredible, it made my heart skip a beat. It’s magical and star filled, and just so beautiful! I love the meaning behind it too. This may be my new favorite???
[name_u]Taliesin[/name_u] [name_m]Malachite[/name_m] - a nice enough name, but doesn’t seem as special as your other combos!
[name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] [name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m] - [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] is a new crush of mine! There’s a movie that came out recently, Flora & [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m], that made me appreciate the name more. Though, the [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] in question was an animal, not a person  as always, [name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m] is one of my favorites for you, even in the middle.
[name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] [name_u]Jem[/name_u] - while [name_u]Jem[/name_u] is usually one of my favorites, I think [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] [name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m] feels more special and unexpected than this combo.
[name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] - I’m not a huge fan of [name_m]Solomon[/name_m], sorry.
[name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] [name_u]Taliesin[/name_u] - this is magical, too! I can’t tell if I like this one or [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] [name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m] more! They’re both so beautiful. I think I need to think about them longer!

Constantine [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] - again, [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] isn’t a favorite of mine. I like that you love the meaning though!
[name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m] [name_m]Scipio[/name_m] - it does have a lovely meaning! I think [name_m]Scipio[/name_m] is very cool.
Rubeus [name_u]Constantine[/name_u] - strong, charming, unexpected.
Rubeus [name_u]Oberon[/name_u] - I love [name_u]Oberon[/name_u] so, so much! I think it fits in nicely with your boys names too. This is a handsome combo!
Rubeus [name_u]Taliesin[/name_u] - magical and charming.

Your list, as always, is so wonderful!!!

My absolute favorites from it are [name_u]Taliesin[/name_u] [name_m]Artair[/name_m] [name_u]Milo[/name_u] (as of right now, I think this is my new favorite! Which feels weird, as [name_m]Endymion[/name_m] [name_u]Jem[/name_u] has been my favorite since the beginning!), [name_m]Endymion[/name_m] [name_u]Jem[/name_u] (this one might still be my favorite, I am struggling to choose ), [name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m] [name_u]Jules[/name_u], [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] [name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m], Rubeus [name_u]Oberon[/name_u], and [name_u]Constantine[/name_u] [name_u]Jules[/name_u]!

Wow! So much love for [name_u]Constantine[/name_u] [name_u]Jules[/name_u]. I know he has been mentioned quite a few times when I’ve posted before but I don’t think I paid much attention to the chorus singing his praises until now.

@floatinthesky, I think that [name_u]Taliesin[/name_u] [name_m]Artair[/name_m] would just be a touch too lacking knowing I should have put the M in there to get to TAM. I can’t see myself using it alone although [name_u]Taliesin[/name_u] [name_m]Artair[/name_m] alone IS my favorite [name_m]Artair[/name_m] combo of all time.

Yes to the [name_f]Gem[/name_f]/Jem homophone! It’s one of the things I love most about [name_u]Jem[/name_u].

I had not noticed that I had nothing to say about any cons for [name_u]Constantine[/name_u]…

Nope it’s an oldie but a goodie! I think it’s such an appealing sound for THIS YEAR for some reason… I’ve loved the name for a long time but it seems more timely somehow?

@regionlatbest, I didn’t know they made a [name_f]Flora[/name_f] & [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] movie! I read a couple chapters of the book a few years back while babysitting and it seemed cute.

Yeah… so it seems like [name_u]Constantine[/name_u] [name_u]Jules[/name_u] and [name_u]Taliesin[/name_u] [name_m]Artair[/name_m] [name_u]Milo[/name_u] are by far the fan-favorites. I’ll have to let that sink in a bit…

Rubeus [name_u]Constantine[/name_u] and [name_u]Constantine[/name_u] [name_u]Jules[/name_u] are my picks!

yes, they did! It was incredible!! I loved the entire thing, it was absolutely adorable and so funny. It had humor for all age groups too, which was great! and wonderful messages were included too, about very important topics!
Plus, it had the most adorable [name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] possible  if you’re into family movies like that, I definitely recommend it!

[name_f]My[/name_f] absolute favorite combo is [name_m]Endymion[/name_m] [name_u]Jules[/name_u]. It sounds so grand and handsome. I also love the way it sounds with Hor@t!o and An@stas!o. [name_f]My[/name_f] other favorite combos are [name_m]Ozymandias[/name_m] [name_u]Jem[/name_u] (Wow, such an awesome name!), Rubeus [name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m], [name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m] [name_m]Scipio[/name_m], [name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m] [name_u]Jules[/name_u], and [name_u]Constantine[/name_u] [name_u]Jules[/name_u]. Amazing combos! I’ve added a few of them to my list

Some things that don’t sit right with me are the repeating sounds in [name_m]Endymion[/name_m] [name_u]Jem[/name_u], [name_u]Taliesin[/name_u] [name_m]Malachite[/name_m], and [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] [name_m]Solomon[/name_m]. I find [name_m]Endymion[/name_m] [name_u]Jem[/name_u] a bit hard to say because “Dym” and [name_u]Jem[/name_u] sound similar. The “Tal” and “Mal” in [name_m]Taliesin[/name_m] [name_m]Malachite[/name_m] stands out to me because they rhyme. Also, the S sound in [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] runs into the start of [name_m]Solomon[/name_m], making a hard S sound when I say it.

Sorry if any of that came off as rude. Good luck!
