Top five combos -- advice and opinions needed!!

I have had to modify some of my favorite names and cut others to compromise with my husband (also [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] are being used by friends as middles for their babies being born this year- so they were cut from my list)

Top combos as of now for our baby girl due in [name_f]April[/name_f]:

[name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] / [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] / [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Maribel[/name_f] / [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]

[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] (nn: [name_u]Romy[/name_u])

[name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] / [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] / [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] [name_u]Lou[/name_u] (nn: [name_f]Miri[/name_f])

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] (nn: [name_f]Lux[/name_f])

[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] lvy

I have tried to incorporate [name_f]Anne[/name_f] or [name_f]Marie[/name_f] in most names in some way as an honor to family members. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] and [name_f]Mae[/name_f] are also honor names.

I’m unsure which spelling of [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f]/ [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] I prefer in these combos.

[name_f]Clover[/name_f] is my absolute favorite name (next to [name_f]Violet[/name_f]) and I’ve always pictured my second daughter being named this (I love the idea of sisters [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Clover[/name_f]) but I can’t seem to find a middle name that I love with it. I also know it’s not as well liked by others (including my daughter).

[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] are borderline too popular in our area, so I’m on the fence about using either as a first name.

Please help- opinions/ suggestions/ advice greatly appreciated!!

I really like [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] and [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]!! Next to those, my favorite is [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]. They have such a lovely springtime feeling. [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f] might make a good alternative to [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f], if you feel the latter is too popular as a first name.

I love [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f]/[name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f]! I go back and forth about which spelling I prefer… I think [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] fits slightly better with [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. My favorite combo would be [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f].
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is second for me, it’s beautiful but [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] is definitely more distinctive.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] are lovely and they go well as sister names to [name_f]Violet[/name_f], but I’m just not as excited about them, they feel a bit more old-fashioned and quiet.
[name_f]Clover[/name_f] is the only one out of your options that I dislike… in spite of the natural connection it has always sounded harsh to me, and it seems hard to wear. If you really love it perhaps you could also incorporate it as a (second) middle name?

I think you should use [name_f]Clover[/name_f] seeing as you love it so much and it’s a nice mix of sweet and strong.
I like the sound of [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] the best but I imagine you will probably want to use an honour name so [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is my recommendation

I also love [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] as a first name

I dislike [name_f]Clover[/name_f], mainly because all it brings to my mind is an image of a rabbit eating clovers… I also can’t quite imagine a girl named [name_f]Clover[/name_f] will still love her name when she’s in her thirties or forties.

That being said, I like [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] the best. It flows beautifully!

I am loving [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]! I think it is fantastic.

Of the [name_f]Clover[/name_f] combos, my favorite is probably [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f], but since you also like [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] as a first name, I would probably go with one of the others instead. My second choice would be [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].

I’m not a fan of [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f], mainly because [name_f]May[/name_f] is sometimes used as a nickname for [name_f]Mary[/name_f], so it seems redundant. (And also kind of stutter-y.)

[name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] is my favorite of the [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] combos.

My overall favorites, though, are [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f].

I’m torn about whether or not [name_f]Clover[/name_f] is usable. On the one hand, it feels similar to names like [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] or [name_f]Luna[/name_f] which once felt offbeat but now feel like entirely mainstream options. On the other, it does feel a little out-there to me. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Clover[/name_f] sound pretty together, but both have sort of a botanical theme and you might be limiting yourself in terms of future names.

My personal favorite off of your list is [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f]. It’s beautiful, classic, and rare. I agree that [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] look slightly better paired with each other than [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f], since with the extra -le [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] is so much longer. [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] is also beautiful, but if you’re concerned about popularity, I’d choose [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] instead. From the middle names you have listed, I like [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f], but if you’re not going to use [name_f]Clover[/name_f] as a first name and you really love it, maybe [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] [name_f]Clover[/name_f]/[name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Clover[/name_f] would be a good compromise?

I agree with this. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] though!

This will be our fourth child (2 boys/ 2 girls) and probably our last, so future names aren’t really a concern. If we did have another girl in the future I wouldn’t mind keeping the botanical/ flower theme going.

[name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] [name_f]Clover[/name_f] is a great option or possibly [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Clover[/name_f].

Thank you

[name_f]Clover[/name_f]: it is definitely bold but I think it’s useable when people are using [name_f]Olive[/name_f] and [name_f]Saffron[/name_f]. My favorite of your combos is [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]. [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] could also be nice. I guess [name_f]Clover[/name_f] & [name_f]Violet[/name_f] are a little plant-y.

[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]: love it. [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] is nice, might depend on your surname whether the flow works. I would also like [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f].

[name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f]: I’m not a fan of this name as it sounds very frilly to me, but sounds like others like it.

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]: love this too, but not seeing where [name_f]Lux[/name_f] comes from and it is too modern for me.

[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]: also very cute.

I wouldn’t let others using [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] as middles stop you from using them as firsts. My impression is that both are very popular as middles, so it’s not like you would be “copying” a unique name. And if friends are using them in the middle the kids will not be called the same thing.

[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] is a nice suggestion! Thank you.

I previously had [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] on my list, but they weren’t my favorite anyway.

I really like [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] (prefer this spelling as more streamlined and understated for a classy name) and [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. I’m not keen on [name_f]Maribel[/name_f] and with [name_f]Clover[/name_f] both names just make me think of a cow, sorry. I like [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] but not so much with [name_f]Clover[/name_f]. The classic [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] or [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] just give [name_f]Clover[/name_f] a strength and stability I like.

I love nn [name_u]Romy[/name_u], and [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] is a good combo. [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] does nothing for me. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is a gorgeous combo of 2 great names and nn [name_f]Lux[/name_f] is great. [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is another gorgeous combo of 2 great names.

So, I would cross off [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f]. Any of the others are good. If your heart says [name_f]Clover[/name_f] go for it!

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Clover[/name_f]! It gives me the sweetest image of a beautiful green grassy field in a warm spring day and a super femenine but also sassy and spuky girl. My favourite combo is [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], followed by [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]. I also like the idea of [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f] as a compromise between the two. I’m not keen on the flow in [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] or [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f].

I really like [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]. I has lovely vintage, maybe even southern?, feel to it and I really like nn [name_u]Romy[/name_u]. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] sound perfect together too

I never liked [name_f]Mirabel/name_f at all. It sounds stuffy and too romantic for me. I prefer [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] because I don’t like the repeating sounds in the other too, but I don’t necessarily like it all that much either (sorry!)

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is very pretty, but it doesn’t wow me as much as the others. [name_f]Lux[/name_f] is a bit of a stretch as a nn but I’ve always thought a nickname can be anything you like.

[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is beautiful. I love the flow and the botany connection it has with [name_f]Violet[/name_f], more subtle than with [name_f]Clover[/name_f]. I don’t like [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Clover[/name_f] (I think someone else suggested it), but I feel [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Clover[/name_f] is a good option.

To round up, my faves are:

  1. [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
  2. [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
  3. [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]
With [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f]/[name_f]Annabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Clover[/name_f] being a suggestion for the first two

[name_f]Clover[/name_f] is kind of a guilty pleasure name for me. I think its really precious. But. I also think for every woman that could totally pull off the name [name_f]Clover[/name_f], there are 5 more women who totally could not!
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] nn [name_u]Romy[/name_u] is ADORABLE and beautiful!
[name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] (my preferred spelling) is my favorite!! I love it. I like it paired with [name_f]Mae[/name_f] best but [name_f]Joy[/name_f] sounds great too. I don’t like how [name_u]Lou[/name_u] and [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] flow into each other.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] is another really sweet choice and I’ve never thought of [name_f]Lux[/name_f] as a nickname for it. Great option.
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] is a name that I used to really like but now it seems kind of meh… overdone a bit.
Good luck. You have great options and I’m sure whatever you pick it’ll be perfect.

[name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] is by far my favourite, followed by [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]! I think you have a lovely list!

I like [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]! [name_f]Clover[/name_f] is awesome for a fourth child! And there are lots of perfectly fine nns if she doesn’t for some reason love [name_f]Clover[/name_f] - cleo, [name_f]Lola[/name_f], Vee, etc… There’s a woman on IG who has a daughter named [name_f]Clover[/name_f] and she loves her name!
If I could choose any middle name it would be [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], because then her nn could be [name_u]Lucky[/name_u] Duck! (at this the wanna-be children’s book illustrator inside of me swoons!). [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] sounds literary and lovely and grounded and energetic all at once - I love it!

[name_f]Clover[/name_f] is NMS; the only [name_f]Clover[/name_f] I’ve heard of is a book character in a children’s book from the 1960s. But as it’s your favorite, then I think you ought to keep it as your top choice. If you’re getting pushback from your family about the name, perhaps you could think about why you like the name (meaning? sound? a memory?) & see if there’s something similar that you still really like but is more palatable to others.

As someone else mentioned, just because friends are using [name_f]Rose[/name_f] & [name_f]Jane[/name_f] as MNs shouldn’t bar you from using them as well, at least [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. Following along from that & the people who have suggested [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f], I don’t know if you’d like Rosabeth as an option. It’s uncommon but easily spelled/pronounced & continues the flower/nature theme.

I agree w/others who have said the the flow of [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] seems off; maybe [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Maya[/name_f]/[name_f]Maia[/name_f] instead? Or even Rosabeth [name_f]May[/name_f]? I love the NN [name_u]Romy[/name_u]!

Because you like flower/nature names & you have [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] as a MN option, I wondered if you had considered [name_f]Cicely[/name_f]. Sweet cicely is a pretty wildflower w/a smell & taste of anise, & can be used in drinks & medicines. [name_f]Cicely[/name_f] [name_f]Clover[/name_f]? I also wondered that if you were concerned that [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] is borderline too popular in your area as a first name whether you’d consider reversing [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] to be [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f].

Good luck!

[name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is precious. Either spelling is great but I usually prefer [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f].

I don’t know, I think [name_f]Clover[/name_f] is kinda sweet and if it’s your fave name, then go for it! I honestly think people will change their minds once they meet her. I like [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]!

I adore [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] from your list, they’re gorgeous! My next favourite would be [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] though I also like [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f].
[name_f]Clover[/name_f] is the only one that I’m not too fond of, it just doesn’t sound much like a name to me, especially next to such an established word name such as [name_f]Violet[/name_f] it’s a little too wordy for me.
