Top Ten Girl Names

Hello! This is a game called top ten girl names! How it works is one person (I’ll start) will share their top ten favorite girl names. The next person to reply will share their opinion (in a kind way) on each of the top ten names the person before shared. Once that person shares their opinion, they will then share their top ten favorite girl names, and so on. I’ll start:

  1. Victoria
  2. Violet
  3. Seraphina
  4. Sylvia
  5. Ophelia
  6. Hazel
  7. Esther
  8. Cora
  9. Charlotte
  10. Amelia

Victoria - Pretty, regal name. Has negative associations for me but it is a nice name
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] - One of my favorites! Beautiful
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] - Another lovely name. Its not too unique to be unpronounceable but also not too common
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] - A little bit dated for me but I prefer it to [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] - Pretty name, but not my personal favorite
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] - Another one of my favorites!
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] - I used to dislike this name but its started to grow on me
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] - LOVE THIS!
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] - Probably my least favorite out of this list purely because of how popular it is
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] - Simple yet beautiful

My current favorites (in no particular order):

Holly
[name_u]Vesper[/name_u]
[name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Vienna[/name_f]
[name_f]Paige[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_u]Presley[/name_u]
[name_f]Pandora[/name_f]
[name_f]Maren[/name_f]
[name_f]Noelle[/name_f]

[name_u]Holly[/name_u] - good and sweet name with a great meaning but as for me it is a little bit dated for a little girl. I mostly imagine a 80s child when hear it through it is not a problem at all

[name_u]Vesper[/name_u] - unique and interesting choice with fantasy associations. I think about pseudonym of miss [name_m]Bat[/name_m] in new The Worst With series

[name_f]Diana[/name_f] - classy and international names with good possibilities for nicknames. [name_u]Love[/name_u] it!

[name_f]Vienna[/name_f] - not definitely what I would choose but it sounds acceptable and not common

[name_f]Paige[/name_f] - sounds so spunky! One of my favorites out of your list

[name_f]Claire[/name_f] - will be very good and unbeaten in FNs spot. Reminds me of some nice, clever and trustworthy young woman or girl. Has some aristocratic vibes

[name_u]Presley[/name_u] - I really like this name but I’m really not sure how it will suit a grown up person. A little bit too childish for my tastes.

[name_f]Pandora[/name_f] - it was one of my top-10 for such a long time. Intriguing yet not too outlandish and just gorgeous!

[name_f]Maren[/name_f] - remind of [name_f]Maureen[/name_f] but looks refreshing. Like it

[name_f]Noelle[/name_f] - the same like [name_f]Pandora[/name_f]! Really pretty and soft but in the same time suitable for person of any age. Would love to meet a [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] one day

[name_f]Anna[/name_f]
[name_f]Ilaria[/name_m]
[name_f]Renee[/name_f]
[name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f]Viveca[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_f]Dominica[/name_f]
[name_f]Muse[/name_f]

Anna ~ sweet simple classic really translatable and timeless
[name_m]Ilara[/name_m] ~ looks visually attractive but not sure on pronunciation
[name_f]Renee[/name_f] ~ relatively simple choice that feels unexpected in first name slot
[name_f]Opal[/name_f] ~ great gem name with a vintage glam vibe I think it’s cool
[name_f]Viveca[/name_f] ~ unusual twist on the usual [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] but I do prefer [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]/Vivienne or even [name_f]Viva[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] ~ this is a sweet botanical choice!
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] ~ such a strong classic really elegant range of great nicknames I think [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is fab
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] ~ it’s a glamorous name I like it
[name_f]Dominica[/name_f] ~ not a favourite of mine but I can see the appeal
[name_f]Muse[/name_f] ~ interesting middle name potentially to daring as a first name

  1. Alice— this is a favorite of mine as well! Timeless and classic, and I’m a huge Alice in Wonderland fan so that helps me like it even more  and this one’s also on my list actually, so obviously it’s my favorite here too

  2. Ida— though it’s not my personal taste, I appreciate it as a fresh vintage alternative to Ada.

  3. Magdalena— this is a beauty, a very regal name.

  4. Isola— this is a new one to me, and I’m wondering how you pronounce it! A fun, fresh alternative to Isla.

  5. Abilene— a nice alternative to Abigail, gives me nautical vibes for an unknown reason, which I like.

  6. Leah— though very popular, it is so for a reason. Hard to go wrong with this one, it’s a classic!

  7. Eliza— Very pretty name, strong and classic and one of those nickname names that stands on its own.

  8. Evangeline— such a pretty name! Both soft and strong which is a hard balance to strike.

  9. Mary— this is a name I have great affection for, and a family name for me. Despite it being so popular by numbers, I run into few young Mary’s these days and would love to see it make a comeback.

  10. Dinah— Fun and spunky!

Alice - Pretty name! I always think of [name_f]Alice[/name_f] in Wonderland but I like that movie so it’s not a bad association.
[name_f]Ida[/name_f] - short and sweet! I actually kind of like it.
[name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] - Pretty name but not one I would use. I feel like it might be hard for others to pronounce and/or spell.
[name_f]Isola[/name_f] - Not a fan. Kind of reminds me of [name_f]Isla[/name_f] but harder to say and spell.
[name_u]Abilene[/name_u] - Again, not a fan. I’m not sure how to say it but it reminds me of [name_f]Abigail[/name_f].
[name_f]Leah[/name_f] - pretty and classic! I surprisingly don’t know many Leahs so I think it would be a good name to use!
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] - I associate with [name_m]Hamilton[/name_m] now! Pretty name though.
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] this name! It’s so pretty and elegant. Some great nickname options too.
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] - I only ever think of grandmas for this name. It feels outdated to me.
[name_f]Dinah[/name_f] - Not a fan, just not my style.

  3. Fleur
  4. Rosanna
  5. Hattie
  6. Sky

  8. Clover

Bonnie— underrated name for sure! Always makes me think of [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] [name_m]Wright[/name_m]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] it.

My list:

  • Guinevere “[name_u]Guin[/name_u]”
  • Gwen
  • Athena
  • Marlowe
  • Ingrid
  • Thalia
  • Saoirse
  • Rian
  • Alice
  • Rowena/Rowan

@itsjustjack

Guinevere “[name_u]Guin[/name_u]” - elegant and regal-sounding, and the nickname [name_u]Guin[/name_u] is cute

Gwen - a classic Welsh name that I don’t hear a lot and would love it to see on more people!

Athena - a powerful name that any girl would be proud to bear (I would think)

Marlowe - although not really my style, it sounds really sweet

Ingrid - it’s not really my style but it has a sort of vintage vibe to it which I like

Thalia - one of my favourite names and I don’t think it’s appreciated enough by many people

Saoirse - whenever I try to pronounce it, it doesn’t quite sound right, but when I hear it said with an Irish accent, it sounds so lovely

Rian - I’m assuming I’m pronouncing it correctly (ree-an?) and it sounds so sweet, and the spelling makes it seem like a fresh and modern alternative to [name_f]Rhiain[/name_f]/Rhian

Alice - classic and sweet

Rowena/Rowan - I prefer [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] for a boy but [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] reminds me of the character in Supernatural, who’s one of the best characters in my opinion, and I think it would be amazing to have that namesake

My list:

  1. Lily
  2. Jasmine
  3. Chloe
  4. Ivy
  5. Freya
  6. Kacey
  7. Ria
  8. Leah
  9. Jade
  10. Grace

[name_f]Lily[/name_f] - Sweet name, I always see it more as a nickname but I like it a lot.
[name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] - Beautiful romantic name!
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f] - I don’t dislike it but I don’t like it either, I prefer it to [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] tho.
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] - I love this name a lot, it’s really beautiful!
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] - Again, such a beautiful name, it is also my favorite spelling.
[name_u]Kacey[/name_u] - I know a [name_u]Kacey[/name_u] so I identify it to her and she is really sweet but also this is too much of an “american” name for me. This is the spelling I prefer for this name, easier to know how to pronounce it and more appealing to the eye for some reasons.
[name_f]Ria[/name_f] - Reminds me of [name_u]Rio[/name_u] which I like as well, it’s quite unusual and I think would be a great alternative to [name_f]Mia[/name_f].
[name_f]Leah[/name_f] - I assume you pronounce it “[name_u]Lee[/name_u]-uh”, and for this name I’d prefer the spelling [name_f]Lia[/name_f] but I like how this name sounds!
[name_f]Jade[/name_f] - [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] gem name, not my favorite but it’s a classic and pretty name.
[name_f]Grace[/name_f] - It’s a lovely name but it’s too basic to me.

[name_f]My[/name_f] list:

  • [name_f]Delia[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Mila[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
  • [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]
  • [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Emma[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Blanche[/name_f]

Delia - not quite my style, but I do have a soft spot for almost anything that ends with [name_f]Lia[/name_f] solely for that nickname
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] - love it! beautiful, elegant name with plenty of nickname options
[name_f]Mila[/name_f] - cute name that’s not too popular, however I can’t not think of [name_f]Mila[/name_f] Kunis
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] - don’t prefer this name at all… it makes me think of a cow’s name
[name_f]Claire[/name_f] - very simple and cute. I would prefer to use it as a middle name, but it can still be a nice first name, and it ages up well
[name_u]Meredith[/name_u] - too old fashioned for me, and also makes me think of The Office
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] - same as above, except this time it’s Friends :joy:
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] - love it! again sweet and simple.
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] - I don’t know that I would ever use this, but I do like it a lot, and again, the [name_f]Lia[/name_f] nickname is top notch
[name_f]Blanche[/name_f] - not my style at all. very old-fashioned. also I think of blanching vegetables

@drvc
[name_f]Savanna[/name_f]- I’m neutral on this name. I knew a [name_f]Savanna[/name_f] and she kinda ruined this name for me. Unbiased 6/10

[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]- I think it’s cute! I think of [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] from the [name_u]Arrow[/name_u] and she’s a great character.

[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]- It’s nice. I don’t love it buts that’s just personal style. It’s definitely a nice name though.

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]- This is so sweet! It’s so cute and frilly but not overly frilly.

[name_f]Delilah[/name_f]- I think this name is really nice! It makes me think of the cool girl at school. It does however remind of the biblical [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and she’s not exactly a very good namesake.

[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]- Same as [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] really! It makes me think of the cool girl at school and [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] Johansson.

[name_f]Aria[/name_f]- Its so cute and frilly!

[name_f]Lily[/name_f]- [name_f]My[/name_f] best friend is [name_f]Lily[/name_f] so I’m a littlest biased but it’s so sweet!

  • Delilah – It has a pretty sound, but I always think of [name_m]Samson[/name_m] & [name_f]Delilah[/name_f].
  • Scarlett – Another name I want to like. I love it in books, but just not in real life.
  • Aria – It’s growing on me, but not there yet.
  • Lily – Sweet and pretty, although not something I’d use.

[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]- I’m pretty neutral on this. I think it sounds better in the middle but it definitely is a nice name!

[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]- This is cute! It makes me think of [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] from the [name_u]Arrow[/name_u] which is a great character!

[name_f]Gillian[/name_f]- This is ok. I prefer it spelled [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] because I always end up pronouncing it with a hard G.

[name_f]Gwen[/name_f]- [name_m]Just[/name_m] the same as [name_f]Alice[/name_f]! It’s so cute and vintage!

[name_f]Hadassah[/name_f]- I love this! I love biblical names and this one has such a harsh sound while still somehow still sounding so gentle! Also the nn [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] is great for this.
