Alright, though I am feeling very good about my number one name choice, I also know that anything can happen when I see my lil’ one’s pretty face. So I would love some opinions on my top 10!
Middle name will be [name_f]Venezia[/name_f]. I am set on this, as it is to honor someone. Pronounced Veh-NETZ-ee-uh. Yes, this makes many names sound very frilly but still lovely I think. Last name is double barreled and very similar to [name_m]Allan[/name_m] [name_m]Wagner[/name_m].
[name_f]Aminta[/name_f] [name_f]Venezia[/name_f]
[name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Venezia[/name_f] – okay, with this part of her initials would also spell [name_f]Ava[/name_f], which tickled my mom but left me feeling a little cheesy.
[name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_f]Venezia[/name_f]
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Venezia[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliette[/name_f] [name_f]Venezia[/name_f]
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_f]Venezia[/name_f]
[name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Venezia[/name_f]
[name_f]Oona[/name_f] [name_f]Venezia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sula[/name_f] [name_f]Venezia[/name_f]
[name_f]Thais[/name_f] [name_f]Venezia[/name_f] – tah-EES. Torn between Thaisa and [name_f]Thais[/name_f].
All thoughts are welcome. Would love critique, rating, likes & dislikes, potential problems, etc. Thank you!
I think I’d say my favourite is [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_f]Venezia[/name_f]. It’s very cute and pretty but not overly frilly. I also like [name_f]Ava[/name_f], although it’s right up there on the popularity scale which puts me off.
I agree with @carysmarie. [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_f]Venezia[/name_f] sounds beautiful. I also really like [name_f]Ava[/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] third choice would be [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]
Some really wonderful choices! [name_f]Ava[/name_f] is not as exciting to me as your other choices. [name_f]Aminta[/name_f] is one of my all-time favorites, and the [name_f]AVA[/name_f] initials mean you could still use the NN [name_f]Ava[/name_f] if she seemed like one. A 2 for 1!
Other than that [name_f]Oona[/name_f] really grabs me. I knew a little [name_f]Oona[/name_f] years ago who is probably a teenager now. [name_m]Just[/name_m] lovely. It manages to be both warm and friendly, but mysterious too.
[name_f]Thais[/name_f] is neat, too! [name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are [name_f]Aminta[/name_f], [name_f]Oona[/name_f], [name_f]Sula[/name_f], [name_f]Thais[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. But, [name_f]Calla[/name_f], [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] and [name_f]Luella[/name_f] are really great as well.
[name_f]Ava[/name_f] is a name I have loved for a long time, before the amazing popularity – that I actually didn’t know about till I started looking at names for my own baby. I’m not put off by the popularity of it personally.
Thanks for the feedback! This list was twice as along, and I feel like all are strong contenders – which is a good and bad thing. Still am thinking that I might try to get it down to a top 5, but who knows. It gets harder and harder. Would love to hear cons of any of the names!
I like [name_f]Calla[/name_f], but if your last name is like [name_m]Allan[/name_m], I wouldn’t use it. [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_m]Allan[/name_m] doesn’t work for me.
I’m really liking [name_f]Luella[/name_f]. It sounds fun and playful, but the middle and last names keep it grounded and even sophisticated. The flow isn’t ideal, but not a dealbreaker for me.
I really like [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_f]Venezia[/name_f] and [name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Venezia[/name_f]!
Also, [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Venezia[/name_f] is cute, but if the initials spell [name_f]Ava[/name_f] too, than it’s too much… Why not [name_f]Eva[/name_f]?
I like [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], [name_f]Luella[/name_f] and [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_f]Venezia[/name_f] (but I agree with another poster about [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_m]Allan[/name_m] being an odd flow).
[name_f]Luella[/name_f] and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] are on my list but I hardly ever see anyone considering [name_f]Luella[/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_f]Venezia[/name_f] and [name_f]Thais[/name_f] [name_f]Venezia[/name_f]. I’d say [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], but I’m not sure it sounds well paired with [name_f]Venezia[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] + [name_f]Venezia[/name_f] + double-barreled surname is way too long.
[name_f]My[/name_f] picks are [name_f]Aminta[/name_f] (love [name_f]Aminta[/name_f]!), or [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]. While I love unusual names, “[name_f]Oona[/name_f]” is pretty out there–to me it looks more like an exclamation than a name. “[name_f]Sula[/name_f]” makes me think of [name_f]Toni[/name_f] [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] and/or the word “surly.” And [name_f]Luella[/name_f] is a touch over-the-top frilly when paired with [name_f]Venezia[/name_f]–since [name_f]Venezia[/name_f] is already ornate (in a good way), I feel like the first name should be a bit more grounded, if that makes any sense. [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is a great name, but it doesn’t go with [name_f]Venezia[/name_f] at all (and it’s long). [name_f]Ava[/name_f] is pretty but way too popular right now. And if you name her “[name_f]Thais[/name_f]”, she will have to explain the pronunciation to everyone for her whole life. I agree with the above poster that [name_f]Calla[/name_f] won’t sound good with the “[name_m]Allan[/name_m]” part of your last name. So I would go with [name_f]Aminta[/name_f] or [name_f]Fiona[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Venezia[/name_f] also sounds kind of awesome. Double V! And then [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_m]Allan[/name_m] [name_m]Wagner[/name_m] sounds great, too. [name_m]Just[/name_m] throwing that out there!
Oh gosh. So [name_m]Allan[/name_m] is not the actual last name. I was trying to think of a two syllable last name that started with an A and ending with an N without actually saying the last name, haha. So Actually there wouldn’t be the “L” conflict there. Probably should have thought it through a bit more considering a lot of the names I love have a strong “L” presence.
There is a good chance she will mostly go by, for example, [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_m]Wagner[/name_m], for simplicity purposes until she’s old enough to decide for herself if she wants to use one or the other or both.
Steampunkie – If I went for [name_f]Eva[/name_f], I’d want [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], which was on my long list and was vetoed because the daddy has Evangelical family and well, I didn’t want them getting any ideas!
[name_f]Polina[/name_f] – I agree with you about [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], I’m just not quite ready to give up on it, but I think it will have to go if I manage to shorten my list further because of the length.
Lanev – I have wondered this about [name_f]Sula[/name_f], and actually made a thread about it. The name is so lovely but the connection to [name_f]Toni[/name_f] [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] – while a very talented writer – puts me off. With [name_f]Thais[/name_f] I don’t mind correcting people (it’s something I’ve dealt with quite a bit personally) but it’s obviously a consideration with the name, whereas the others are more straightforward.
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] is a darling name, but not for me.
Thanks for all the feedback everyone! It’s really neat to see what names you love are getting appreciation, and which ones aren’t so much.
I’m going to choose the first name I think are the more usable and flow best with the surname ([name_m]Allan[/name_m] [name_m]Wagner[/name_m]) rather than how they flow with the mn. You wanted a top five so here are mine.
[name_f]Aminta[/name_f] [name_f]Venezia[/name_f]
[name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_f]Venezia[/name_f]
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Venezia[/name_f] - if the first surname begins with “A”, I think [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] would be the best choice.
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_f]Venezia[/name_f]
[name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Venezia[/name_f]
[name_f]Ellie[/name_f] – I do like [name_f]Iona[/name_f], especially since [name_f]Io[/name_f] is a guilty pleasure of mine, however I can’t get past the “I own a ___” deal.
[name_f]Aoife[/name_f] is great, but between pronunciation and spelling mishaps I don’t think I can quite saddle my girl with the name. I do think names that aren’t as straightforward for the english speaker will become more acceptable though and that makes me quite happy.
[name_u]Mischa[/name_u] – thanks for the top 5. I do think [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Venezia[/name_f] may be a touch long, even though she won’t be going by her full name all the time.
I wonder if [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] is going to become the next [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]?? It’s not a huge problem for me, more just a curiosity. It has quite a few current pop culture connections as well…
[name_f]My[/name_f] first choice would be [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] [name_f]Venezia[/name_f], but, if you’re set on [name_f]Aminta[/name_f], then I’d choose [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_f]Venezia[/name_f].
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_f]Venezia[/name_f] stood out for me. And no, I don’t think [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] will become megapopular like [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabella[/name_f].
