[name_m]Ran[/name_m] across this article and thought it was an interesting visual view of the top baby names for each state since 1960. It was especially striking to visually see [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] dominate for so many years and to note how there’s been a bit more baby naming variety state-to-state (at least with the #1 name) in recent years rather than one name (like [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] or [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]) claiming the top spot in nearly every state across the board.

There’s an app called Nametrix that has popularity maps for many names from 1960 to present. It also includes the popularity lists for each of those years (through 1000), a pie chart showing the distribution of political affiliations for people with that name, and a list of the professions most often chosen by people with that name. It combines pretty maps with tons of fun info!
