Some names I won’t get to use so someone should

[name_f]Allegra[/name_f]- Some people find this unusable because of the allergy medicine but once it’s on a person, I feel like that gets forgotten. I love that it has the trendier sounds like the [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Mila[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f], Ally’s of the world but has a fresher feel. To me it has the perfect combination of spunk and grace. Fits well at any age. It means joyous so another plus there.
Ex. [name_f]Allegra[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u], [name_f]Allegra[/name_f] [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], [name_f]Allegra[/name_f] [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] / [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] [name_f]Allegra[/name_f], [name_u]Florence[/name_u] [name_f]Allegra[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Allegra[/name_f]

[name_f]Colette[/name_f]- Refreshing play on names and sounds people are using right now. Nicknames [name_u]Coco[/name_u] and [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] are very in. [name_m]Cole[/name_m] could be a cute gender neutral nickname. It’s familiar but not common. [name_m]Ties[/name_m] to Nicholas/Nicole for honoring options. It means victory of the people.
Ex. [name_f]Colette[/name_f] [name_f]Wildflower[/name_f], [name_f]Colette[/name_f] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], [name_f]Colette[/name_f] [name_u]Arden[/name_u] / [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f], [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f], [name_f]Zara[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f]

[name_f]Calista[/name_f] – People are sleeping on this one and [name_f]Colette[/name_f] in my mind. Familiar sounds. It feels very put together but artsy to me. Polished but not stuffy. Nickname [name_u]Cali[/name_u] is cute and trendy. It means most beautiful. I think it works well at all ages while being cute for a baby. The sounds aren’t harsh so pairing it with other names can often have a nice flow.
Ex. [name_f]Calista[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Calista[/name_f] [name_f]Odette[/name_f], [name_f]Calista[/name_f] [name_u]Sterling[/name_u] / [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Calista[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Calista[/name_f], [name_u]Peyton[/name_u] [name_f]Calista[/name_f]

A few ideas that I’m loving at the moment:

[name_f]Tanith[/name_f] - I love -ith ending names and this is one I don’t see around too often. It’s sharp but sweet, intriguing to say, a little rugged and mystical. [name_f]Tanith[/name_f] [name_f]Emily[/name_f] is my current combo

[name_f]Tesni[/name_f] - for me, this is such a sunny and bright sounding name - full of life, outdoorsy and sweet. It’s a fun way to the more popular [name_f]Tess[/name_f] too  [name_f]Tesni[/name_f] [name_u]Florence[/name_u] is my combo at the moment

[name_f]Embla[/name_f] - warm, earthy and bold in a quiet way. It has the familiar [name_f]Em[/name_f]- start but the end makes it so much more interesting. It has a cheerful strength! [name_f]Embla[/name_f] [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Embla[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] are some I’m considering.

[name_f]Jilly[/name_f] - this definitely won’t be for everyone, but I love the light, bright, cheerful feel of [name_f]Jilly[/name_f]. It’s sweet but I can see it on a teen or adult too. [name_f]Jilly[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is simple but sweet and is my current combo

Victoria

I know it leans more on the classic side, but it is so overlooked by both name nerds and non-name nerds. It gives me a regal, elegant and strong vibe. A librarian I had the pleasure of meeting told me that ‘someone who rises against all odds is a Victoria’. I have fallen in love with this name ever since.

Louise

Louise is similar to Victoria in many ways, mainly that they connote strength to me. Louisa is popular on Nameberry, but I seldom see Louise as a FN or even a MN. This is in the running for if I ever decide to have a middle name for my children. It’s also on my list as Athena Louise.

Song: mad woman by Taylor Swift

Athena

I have loved Athena ever since I became a name-nerd. Something about it is alluring and strong, it’s so magnificent. The goddess association is also golden. I have no words  It was also on my list for names I’d actually use for a kid.

Song: cardigan by Taylor Swift
Aesthetic/Quote:

Viatrix

Ultimate GP! I like Beatrix, Beatrice and Bellatrix, but Viatrix takes it on another level. I also like Aviatrix, but moreso Viatrix. I think this comes in my Top 20 of ‘names I’d actually use’ list. Sadly, I have no combos of this name.

Song: Call It What You Want by Taylor Swift
Quote: Littera scripta manet (The written letter lasts)

Maeve

Obviously, NB introduced me to this name. I think it is quite perfect. In the past few months, it has moved up a few spots up on the list I have aforementioned. ‘she who intoxicates’ is such a beautiful meaning.

Song: Love Again by Dua Lipa
Quote: If you live to be a hundred, then I want to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you - A. A Milne in Winnie the Pooh

There are other names as well. I will add them whenever I get the time. This was fun.

[name_f]My[/name_f] current favorite girl name is [name_f]Rosanna[/name_f]. I have always loved [name_f]Rose[/name_f] names, but [name_f]Rosanna[/name_f] is a true hidden gem to me. It’s timeless, feminine, international, easy to spell and pronounce, familiar, but somehow not popular at all! Everyone knows the name, but no one is using it, and that’s really exciting to me. I just love it.

Unfortunately, I can’t convince my husband or daughters. [name_m]Ah[/name_m] well. It’s okay. Someone else could use it!

[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]- strong starry name, less common but easy to say and spell
[name_f]Brigid[/name_f]- strong Irish name but different the popular Maeve/Finn etc
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]- a little vintage, lovely flow
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f]- love the sound, classic Irish name, most [name_f]English[/name_f] speakers are familiar with it, femme but not frilly
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]- neutral, fresh, smells like evergreens
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]- vintage botanical name, great for little girls “Rosie” through Grandma [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]- Classy, elegant, and has strong sounds
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]- lovely flow, cute nickname [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]

only one name just now- [name_f]Cosetta[/name_f]! she’s so pretty and graceful, reminds me of ballerinas and white marbled walls. She reminds me of the song je l’aime, j l’aime j l’aime by barbara pravi.

I tend to like pretty common names, especially on Nameberry standard — so it’s hard to think of favorites that are under appreciated. But! I have a few.

[name_u]Ciel[/name_u] (SEE-el)— I adore [name_u]Ciel[/name_u]. It has the soft, elegant sound of names like [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] and [name_m]Eliel[/name_m], with a handsome sharpness to start… It’s such a perfect name. Yes, yes, I love everything about it. It’s a [name_u]French[/name_u] word name meaning sky.

[name_m]Vireo[/name_m] — ok, it’s not as dated and well worn as most of my favorite names. But it’s a sharp, cool sound and a nature name to boot.

[name_m]Elton[/name_m] — Many people think it’s too tied to [name_m]Sir[/name_m] [name_u]John[/name_u], but I think that’d be an association quickly outgrown when you actually know an [name_m]Elton[/name_m]. I like the sound, the softness, the look, the vintage feel, everything is very cool.

[name_f]Marilla[/name_f] — A lesser-used from the Victorian era, full of sweet and soft sounds. It means shining sea, and it also has literary connections to [name_u]Anne[/name_u] of [name_u]Green[/name_u] Gables!

[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] (b) — Fine on a girl, sure, but it’s always seemed better suited to a boy for me. And we get nickname [name_f]Gem[/name_f] from it!

[name_m]Levon[/name_m] — Similar to lovely [name_m]Leon[/name_m], [name_u]Leander[/name_u], and [name_u]Leo[/name_u], but just…more.

[name_m]Alford[/name_m] — All the appeal of sweet old [name_u]Henry[/name_u], less tripping than [name_m]Alfred[/name_m].

[name_f]Josabet[/name_f] — [name_f]Lilibet[/name_f] is cute. It hurts my tongue to say. [name_f]Josabet[/name_f], the child of [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilibet[/name_f], however, doesn’t! Did I mention the cute nickname [name_u]Josie[/name_u]?

[name_f]Milagros[/name_f]! I can see it paired with any of the emojis you used, and I’d love to see someone use it in a combo.

Cydi: It’s said like: Side-ee, I love this name, it’s from a country song of the same name, so I love that aspect but also the fun spelling. It’s usual but not unapproachable and I think it would suit a spunky, down to earth girl. Thought it could even be a nickname for [name_u]Cypress[/name_u] at a pinch…

Oh and I’m crushing extremely hard on [name_u]Florian[/name_u] right now. I never realized how unfortunately unpopular he is — he hasn’t seen the top 1000 in the USA since before 1900, according to the social security administration. :exploding_head:

Sure to change, soon! He’s thought of highly here, so that’s good.

my favourite criminally underrated name:

emmadine

i love this name because it is a more fresh twist on emily, emmeline, emilia etc. it looks beautiful written out and sounds nice, too (emma-deen). i think it could really fit in with the other popular names, as it has a familiar feel about it, despite being rare. it would age well on any child. it makes the name incredibly versatile to me and could fit a variety of aesthetics. i love emmadine because it feels timeless and sweet.

emojis that give me ‘emmadine’ vibes: :sunflower::honey_pot::herb::love_letter::sparkles::wilted_flower:

I love all those names they deserve more attention!

[name_u]Ceylon[/name_u] - a starkly girlish name yet not frilly like most girls names are. pronounced (SAY-lon) it is technically the old name of the country Sri Lanka, given to it by the Portuguese. while that history may make it off putting to some I personally think that since among my age group at least this fact is so little known that [name_u]Ceylon[/name_u] can be safely used.

[name_f]Imogen[/name_f] - [name_m]Classic[/name_m], elegant, but still has a certain edge to it imo. nn [name_f]Mimi[/name_f] is sweet!

[name_u]Sage[/name_u] - such a good middle name and would go well with a lot of different ways. Either [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] or [name_f]Anora[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] or a nature name of some kind!

[name_f]Faye[/name_f] - super underrated and more people should use it! It is fun, bright but still classy and it is just beautiful. I think it’s almost perfect!

[name_f]My[/name_f] top 5 at the moment!

[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]- Elegant, but not frilly. Has several nickname options. Not common, but not unheard of. Literary name.

[name_f]Norah[/name_f]- Old fashioned, but not stuffy. Ends in “A.” Short, sweet and easy to spell.

[name_u]Eden[/name_u]- Great meaning (Delight), short and sweet.

[name_f]Stella[/name_f]- Same as [name_u]Eden[/name_u], short and sweet with a great meaning (Star).

[name_f]Noelle[/name_f]- I see this used as a middle name all the time, but it’s so underused as a first!

Not sure if i can explain why i like them but heres my list

[name_u]Bixby[/name_u]
[name_u]Blake[/name_u]
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f]
[name_u]Britain[/name_u]
[name_u]Emerson[/name_u]
[name_u]Ever[/name_u]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_u]Lake[/name_u]
[name_u]Lane[/name_u]
[name_u]Lennox[/name_u]
[name_f]Ravenna[/name_f]
[name_u]Sterling[/name_u]
[name_u]True[/name_u]

[name_f]Esmeray[/name_f]- I just love how magical it sounds, and shortens to [name_f]Esme[/name_f].

[name_f]Lumi[/name_f]- I love that it means snow, and I love the sound of it. It’s short and sweet to me.

[name_u]Phaedra[/name_u]- This one sounds strong to me, and im not sure why its not more popular. I like the sounds and that it shortens to fay.

[name_f]Toula[/name_f]- Short and sweet to me, i could actually see myself using it one day.

This is a fun idea!

First one I would recommend is my favourite [name_f]Apolline[/name_f]. It has the fashionable -line ending of [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] and comes with the adorable nickname of [name_f]Apple[/name_f]!

Another one creeping up my list is [name_f]Valerie[/name_f]. I think it’s so cute and wearable and has a nice vintage vibe to it.

I’d also recommend [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] for the same reasons as [name_f]Valerie[/name_f]! It is also one of my favourites and works among the girls names of today.

Another name that I think would stand out but work is [name_f]Noemi[/name_f]. I think it’s a gorgeous and unique alternative to [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] and personally I love it.

[name_f]My[/name_f] final recommendation is [name_u]Garnet[/name_u]. I think as the jewel names continue to climb [name_u]Garnet[/name_u] could become more fashionable and rightly so.
