I love both - I like that [name]Zevi[/name] is a nod to our Jewish heritage and it is uncommon and different, but I like how [name]Asa[/name] softens our last name a bit. [name]Asa[/name]'s growing popularity concerns me, though, and is probably the main reason I don’t just go with that name.
I have to agree with you regarding the fact that [name]Asa[/name] does soften your surname up. [name]Zevi[/name] is ok but I don’t like the repetitive v’s in [name]Zevi[/name] [name]Everett[/name].
I don’t know why you’re concerned about [name]Asa[/name]. It was only No# 554 most popular name in the US last year (that’s only 456 boys in the whole country). Unless there are a number of Asas running around in your neck of the woods, I don’t think you should worry too much.
I think it is the steep projectory it’s on that makes me wonder if it will be a top 100 in a few years. I’m sure at one point [name]Aidan[/name] was in the 500s and now look at it! Appellation Mountain did a post on it that also wondered if it was on the cusp of exploding popularity, which got me thinking (probably over-thinking!)
I love [name]Asa[/name]. I honestly see it maybe creeping into the top 200, but not much higher, and even then I don’t see it happening for quite a while. I think it’s one of those names that people will generally like but wouldn’t use themselves leaving it perpetually out of the top 100. Despite increasing popularity, it’s by no means a trendy name.
