We are all out of girl name ideas (3rd girl!). W:arrow:e have been considering [name_u]Spruce[/name_u] as a name?
Thoughts?
[name_f]My[/name_f] great Aunt’s name was [name_m]Birch[/name_m], and we like that too. But, for some reason, that made us think of [name_u]Spruce[/name_u], which we are currently thinking might work. What do you think?
To me, [name_u]Spruce[/name_u] is more workable for a boy - kinda in the same category as [name_u]Cedar[/name_u]. It just feels mannish. Maybe because it brings [name_m]Bruce[/name_m] to mind. I much prefer [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] as I think that one works for either.
First I was like ‘‘uhg what?’’ but I actually sort of like it - it does make me think of [name_m]Bruce[/name_m] a bit, but I don’t think it’s overly masculine. It has a similar feel to [name_f]Blanche[/name_f] to me, only more earthy and less dated. I think of pine forests and cold, clean air, [name_u]Spruce[/name_u] has some quite lovely connotations.
That being said, I’m not sure if I can imagine having [name_u]Spruce[/name_u] as my own name and really loving it. [name_f]Briar[/name_f] is on and off my own list and I have similar issues with it (I’ve also worried it’s too masculine or too much like [name_m]Brian[/name_m]) which is why I’d probably only use it in the middle spot.
I also love [name_u]Cedar[/name_u] as mentioned above. There’s also [name_u]Elm[/name_u], [name_f]Asha[/name_f] (as in [name_u]Ash[/name_u]), [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], [name_u]Linden[/name_u], [name_f]Laurel[/name_f], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u].
